I’ve read Too Busy Not To Pray, I agree with your assessment! It has a lot of practical application that is really helpful! Christmas at Thompson Hall was SO FUNNY and I am excited to try a more hefty Trollope now that I’ve read that one. I think I might enjoy him Aww David Copperfield! One of my favorite Dickens I’ve read so far. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
I hope you have better luck with Trollope’s novels than I have so far! They haven’t been bad for me … they just haven’t lived up to the hype 😂 I’m now hopeful I’ll find one I’ll enjoy! David Copperfield is a treasure 🥹 I think you were someone who recommended Too Busy Not to Pray to me and I’m glad I finally read it!
Thank-you Tiffany - I added several of the books you mentioned to my list of books to read. December was a good reading month for me. I read Bleak House for the first time - and I liked it so much. I also read a non-fiction book "The Serviceberry" by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It was so good - the premise she visits is the idea of moving to a "gift economy" in our world. I loved that premise. Have a good week!
My favorite book for December also made it to my top books of 2024 - Illuminae. I love Cranford and am glad you liked it. Every Christmas I reread A Christmas Carol. I think it is definitely my favorite Dickens novel. I am glad you ended the year well too.
Oh, how cool that you had a favorite at the end of the year! It doesn’t always work out that way 😁 I’ve heard great things about Illuminae. I still need to give it a try.
I enjoyed The Last Murder at the End of the World and since SciFi is never my genre I was surprised that I liked it so much. I did not see coming, the revelation about the villagers! I need to read Cranford.
Mas’r Davy/Trot 💜 I still have a fair amount of unread Dickens, but I adore Copperfield. Thanks for the re-read (even though I fell off the wagon for a bit). So it wasn’t just me on Stu’s book. I’m just not a sci-fi girl and thought maybe it was just me missing stuff. Still a decent read, but Evelyn was better for me.
You had very good reason to fall off the wagon! I just can’t believe I finished a book before you 😂 I’m usually the pokey one. It was an absolute delight to relive Mas’r Davy with you 🤗 No, there were parts of Last Murder that had me so puzzled 🤨 I shouldn’t type them out here, because they’re super spoilery, but they just absolutely didn’t make any sense and I’m not sure what message he was even trying to convey 😂
I’m very excited to reread David Copperfield later this year (+ more Dickens)! KL 💔(definitely the December favorite) I also enjoyed Humiliated & Insulted.
I hope to read Humiliated and Insulted soon! Especially since someone really sweet sent me a copy 🥹 I’m so thankful I got to read Kristin with you, dear friend!
I appreciate you reading and reviewing Mr Dickens and His Carol. It was on my TBR in December but after what you said I returned it. Definitely not wasting my time.
I really liked David Copperfield. My favorite characters were Peggotty and Aunt Betsey. It did not top Great Expectations for me but still great. My reread of Little Women and a nonfiction Raising Amazing by Monica Swanson were my top books of the month. Also read 85% of The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson in December and finished in January. Spoiler it was so good, easy 5 star!
Great Expectations was my favorite Dickens when I was younger! It’s still up near the top for me! It’s interesting to compare David Copperfield and Great Expectations, as they have a lot of similarities but are very different as well! Little Women is the best 🥹 And Way of Kings is amazing too!
Love the new opening!!❤🎉
Me too!
Thank you 😊 it’s been a few years since I updated, so it felt like it was time!

The Serviceberry sounds fascinating! I’m glad you had such a good reading month in December 😊

A very old but good book on prayer you might enjoy from the 1930s (something to look for on one your used book treasure hunts)😂😂😂
Prayer by O.Hallesby
I’ll definitely keep my eyes peeled for that one! (And ask my husband if it’s lurking on his office shelves somewhere 😜)
I'm DEFINITELY checking out Small Things Like These 🔥🔥🔥
I think you’ll love it! Everyone I’ve talked to has liked Foster better, but I haven’t read that one yet.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't really enjoy romantic books😅
You are not alone! Isn’t it great to have that solidarity when you feel like the only one? 😂

I need to read Cranford.
There were some great things about The Last Murder at the End of the World, for sure! It just kinda fell apart in the last half for me.
That was a great reading month! Now I’m questioning whether I picked the right Dickens for this year. 😂
I’m curious which one you chose!
Great wrap up 🫶🏻
Thank you! It was a (mostly) good reading month!

I’m glad to save you the frustration it caused me 😂
@ thanks for taking one for the team.😂
I really enjoyed Let it Glow.
It was so cute! I got it from the library after I saw your review!
