I loved having teenagers. Challenging and prayerful time for me, but also so much laughter & discovery & friendship (with me) deepening. (I loved every stage really🤭)
I’m really enjoying the deep conversations I’m having with British literature class teaching to the high schoolers at my homeschool group, so I can only imagine how much more I’ll love having those deep conversations with my own daughter 😊
I really hope you enjoy The Aeronaut's Windlass! And there is definitely a talking cat--he's one of my favorite characters! Ooh, I love the Oscar Wilde puzzle! I haven't seen puzzles like that until this year, just pictures, but I may need to buy one or two 😊
I thought I remembered you mentioning a talking cat! Thank you again for sending it … and the tea ❤️ Chantel got a Sherlock Holmes puzzle that’s just like my Oscar Wilde one!
I thought there was a play with Lady Windermere’s name in the title! I haven’t read it yet, but it’s in the same collection that I have that also contains Earnest.
I have Aeronaut’s Windlass on the shelf! I’ve never picked it up because I couldn’t take his wizard detective series. But I’ve held onto this one in hopes that maybe I’ll like this one better. 😅 If you want a buddy when you get around to it, let me know!
Love the Oscar Wilde puzzle--that's one I haven't seen yet. I have other puzzles in that same series: The World of Jane Austen, The World of the Brontes, The World of Shakespeare and The World of Charles Dickens. The puzzles have scenes from the author's books and the enclosed poster is really good, too. I've purchased them from Barnes & Noble.
I’m pretty sure that my friend purchased this one at Barnes and Noble also! I’ll have to go check out their selection, because it’s such a cool puzzle!
I love the bookmarks Judi got for you 💜. I didn’t even realize Lillies of the Field was a book. I love the old Sidney Poitier movie. My only bookish gift was my Kindle Paperwhite. I purchased all of Mr. Dickens’ work for $1.99 which I am super pumped about, as well as the first four Stormlight books. I also downloaded some stuff from Project Gutenberg. I’m excited for all the free reading in my future, even though I’m conflicted about not having physical copies. Those that are favorites will end up being purchased in physical format, but it will be nice to save some $ (and space) for once. Haha
I’ve never heard of the movie, but you’re the third person to mention it in the comments! Yay, welcome to the kindle world! It makes bedtime reading so comfy and easy 😊
Mom said the same thing about bedtime reading…but I lay on my stomach with my book propped up in front of me so it’ll be the same. Lol Watch the movie. So good. I’m surprised you’ve never seen it as we watched it when I was a teen (I’ve seen it plenty of times since). Although you were young you may not have remembered it.
My mom bought me Valley of Dragons (the last book in the Secrets of Ormdale series) and Winter Heart by H. D. Foxe (which is on my 25 books in 2025 list). I also received a book shop puzzle. It was so fun to put together during a snow day!
Those Pushkin Press editions are adorable! I may have to get a couple (I have some Amazon credits for things I’ve returned - might as well be books I get instead 😅)
I read Paul David Tripp's books Parenting and What Did You Expect (a marriage book my husband and I went through for premarital counseling) and loved them both. Hope you enjoy his writing!
I had a couple of books for Christmas. One I chose myself 'Mrs Adams in Winter' by Michael O'Brien, as recommended on Jenna's channel. I broke my no book buying yesterday as Harper Collins had fifty percent off their books, so I purchased the start of a cosy crime series, a couple of painted edition classics and Agatha Christies's winter stories. By on the wagon with the no book buying!
People used to tell me "just wait til they are teens" in such a negative way. Don't believe it. I've got three and I love the teen years! Also, I really want to read Patriot as well. Might have to splurge for that one.
I’m glad to hear more love for the teen years 🥹 I want to soak them up, because I know I’ll blink and she’ll be moving out! I splurged on Patriot by buying it new, but it feels so worth it!
Thank you Second Sale for sending me a second copy of H&I when the first was lost - only to have the first show up months later! And I do mean months!😂 Can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
What a beautiful ornament! Elantris sounds so interesting, but I have heard both good and not so good things about it, so I'm a bit hesitant to read it.
John ‘Mirror’ ? I remember Alexei from the horrible poisoning when someone tried to kill him (I’m thinking V.P.) This and subsequent events illustrated to me how little influence Amnesty International really has. I think I need to buy his book. Bookmark holder! Love it ❤ That book club ornament is the bomb!
Someone else said “mewr” for Muir pronunciation. I think I was somewhere between those pronunciations 😂 close enough, I guess! Patriot sound so good! I hadn’t heard of Navalny until Christy read his book. I’m not the best at keeping up with current events.
I ordered books I’ve been waiting for also 😂 I may just go ahead because it’s getting so late in the month and two places shipments still haven’t arrived. (That sounds so grandiose but it’s only 5 books🤭)
This was really fun to watch.😊 I saw the movie Lillies Of The Field umpteen yrs. ago with Sidney Poitier as the man who helps the nuns. Love John Muir's writings. Birch Browsing is an old favorite of mine. ("muur, mewr" pronunciation). Would like to read Patriot. Have to get that Spurgeon bk. as he is my absolute FAVORITE theologian. Last time didn't think the other 2 girls went very deep w/ his book. Learning about C.S. Lewis now. Read the book Once Upon A Wardrobe by Patti Callahan which told tons of his life (true). That bk. impacted me in many ways. Just might be my favorite book of 2025! Can't stop thinking about it. Did you get your hair cut?
I didn’t know Lilies of the Field was a movie! Sounds like I wasn’t too far off with my Muir pronunciation 😂 Thank you! Spurgeon is my favorite too! I haven’t gotten a haircut recently, but sometimes the curls are tighter and it looks shorter
You will love the film based in Lillies of the Field with Sidney Poitier!
I didn’t realize it was a movie!
I loved having teenagers. Challenging and prayerful time for me, but also so much laughter & discovery & friendship (with me) deepening. (I loved every stage really🤭)
Honestly, every stage has its blessings and difficulties. I refuse to live in dread of the next stage or wish years away!
I am an Elantris lover and find it quite timely.
I’ve heard so many people say they love it!
What a great haul 😍 Deea with the bangers! The cats in Aeronaut's Windlass and just so so fun
Deea always gives the best gifts! She’s so thoughtful!
Having teens is fun, especially with homeschooling. I love the philosophical discussions because they come up with such great ideas.
I’m really enjoying the deep conversations I’m having with British literature class teaching to the high schoolers at my homeschool group, so I can only imagine how much more I’ll love having those deep conversations with my own daughter 😊
♥️♥️ Elantris ♥️♥️
I knew that was one you loved! I probably need one I love after Wind and Truth 😂
@@beautifulminutiae 🤭😵💫
The odds of you randomly selecting a book from your wishlist!! Winning
I know! It was meant to be!
That ornament ❤️❤️❤️so cool!
You have a crafty friend😊😊😊
Yes, she’s incredible!
I really hope you enjoy The Aeronaut's Windlass! And there is definitely a talking cat--he's one of my favorite characters!

I’m so happy you picked up Lilies!! It’s not long but it’s got an endearing quality that gets me right in the feels!😂🥰
You made it sound so lovely, I just had to pick up a copy!
The puzzle looks so fun! I just love Oscar Wilde more and more. The play is Lady Windermere’s fan. I enjoyed it. I have a Dover edition of the book.
I thought there was a play with Lady Windermere’s name in the title! I haven’t read it yet, but it’s in the same collection that I have that also contains Earnest.

I don’t have a specific time in mind to read it yet, but I’ll let you know!
I have Alexei’s book on my list after listening to Christy’s top list too! I think my library has purchased it, after I requested it🤭❣️
Yay for libraries that buy books you request! 🎉🎉🎉
Awww! The book ornament!!!
Isn’t it beautiful? Such a sweet gift!
Such a cute ornament!! And bookmarks.
Nice haul.
The ornament was so beautiful! I was amazed that she made it!
I loveeeee the 'book' snowman on your shelf!
Isn’t he adorable? 😍 My sister gave him to me for Christmas a couple of years ago.

Elantris is my favorite so far of the Brando Sando I’ve read! 🥰
You’re not the only person I’ve heard say that!
My mom bought me Valley of Dragons (the last book in the Secrets of Ormdale series) and Winter Heart by H. D. Foxe (which is on my 25 books in 2025 list). I also received a book shop puzzle. It was so fun to put together during a snow day!
A bookshop puzzle sounds so cozy! Those books sound great too!
Lots of fun books! I hope you enjoy Elantris (I think you will!)
I’m sure I will! Thanks again for sending it to me 🤗❤️
Oooo I’ve not heard of this Spurgeon either! Off to look it up!!🧐🤓
I hadn’t either! I’m not sure how Peter stumbled across it.
Those Pushkin Press editions are adorable! I may have to get a couple (I have some Amazon credits for things I’ve returned - might as well be books I get instead 😅)
This only the second one I have! I also have A Bad Business and I love that one too 😍
Wow that Spurgeon book sounds so good!!
Doesn’t it? I don’t know how my husband heard of it, but I can’t wait to read it!
I read Paul David Tripp's books Parenting and What Did You Expect (a marriage book my husband and I went through for premarital counseling) and loved them both. Hope you enjoy his writing!
I’ve heard nothing but good things about him so far! 😊
I use to make those corner bookmarks they are so cute!
They really are adorable!

Yes! The one time a mess up is actually a blessing in disguise lol
I love my teens! ❤
You had a great haul!
I know you do! You’re one of those people that encouraged me that the teen years could be a joy and I’m very grateful for that ❤️
❤
What a beautiful ornament!
Elantris sounds so interesting, but I have heard both good and not so good things about it, so I'm a bit hesitant to read it.
Yeah, I’ve heard mostly positive things, but tempered with the expectation that this was his first book and he’s grown as a writer 😂
John ‘Mirror’ ?
I remember Alexei from the horrible poisoning when someone tried to kill him (I’m thinking V.P.) This and subsequent events illustrated to me how little influence Amnesty International really has. I think I need to buy his book.

@ okay my hiking buddy and a John M fan says “mewr” is the one.
Love Muir’s 1000 Mile walk to the Gulf book and I think I’ve read some “meditations” (thoughts) by him as well.
I can’t wait to read something by him!
I ordered books I’ve been waiting for also 😂 I may just go ahead because it’s getting so late in the month and two places shipments still haven’t arrived. (That sounds so grandiose but it’s only 5 books🤭)
I almost just did pictures of the covers, but I figured I could be patient and wait 😂

"Lilies of the Field"? I like a good nun story! Have you tried Rumer Godden? (she wrote "Black Narcissus" and "In This House of Brede")🧡
I haven’t read any Rumer Godden yet! I’ll have to look those up.
Where to find those coffee cup and popsicle bookmarks? They are adorable!
My mother in law got them from Etsy, though I don’t know exactly what store.
