How will re-focussing in literacy and numeracy help NZ kids? Genuine question from Chloe Swarbrick. Wow. She obviously thinks that learning about gender idealogy is more important than learning to read.
Treasury said wage growth would be 4% over the next year. If the Fair Pay Act is repealed, what effect will this have Treasuries projections?
It'll probably be lower than 4% then. Anything National passes regarding wages is for the purpose of lowering them.
Last I heard on the radio was that wages were expected to grow more slowly than the cost of living, and wage earners are being told "they expect too much".
The people have spoken Chloe.
Chloe and the Greens,Labour and Maori Party doesnt understand that concept.
Hi Brooke, come here and listen to Comrade Chloe rant... Some balance please
From the River to the Sea, no one voted for Chloe.
Doesn’t matter your green position, you are stuck in opposition 😂😂😂
Really, did she get elected to parliament with zero votes? Here was me thinking the Greens were the third-largest party in Parliament and that Chloe got more votes than Brooke.
Poor Chloe. She no longer has any relevance 😔😂 Brooke seems like an intelligent, classy woman.

Yes, I agree, the nation needs weaning from the govt tit.
It's their job to listen to the people and represent us, we can make then do what we want
That's why the best places to live are places with no functioning government, like Somalia. You can be a pirate!
get her Chloe.. they have thick teeth to lie through.
Congrats, Brooke 🙌 you have my full support.
Will repealing the fair pay law increase employees incomes? As the PM said the goverment is there for all people.
Exactly. If they care so much about workers, why are they removing something that guaranteed hospitality and retail workers are protected?
Increasing low paid work through 'fair pay' laws leads to some unskilled workers with jobs getting paid more. It also means it now costs more to employ low skilled people, so employers are less likely to create new jobs. This leads to more unskilled people not having jobs and a life of welfare dependency.
@@chrish5184 - unemployment is low right now. The new government intend to drive up unemployment to reduce inflation.
Official unemployment is low but the not in work number is high. The unemployed are now counted on other lists such as long term sick. In the UK more than 50% of the 2.3 million long term sick have either anxiety, nerves or depression as their diagnosis. I don't know if the numbers for NZ are available.
Either way it doesn't matter. If the cost of employing goes up there will be less employing behaviour. The only way this could work would be if NZ employers are making huge profits. Then increasing minimum wage would not lead to unemployment but would lead to a reallocation from fat cats to employers. But this is not the world we live in. If a company has massive profits other companies come in with lower prices and still make a profit. This is how competition works. Then employees can use their wages to but cheaper goods. i.e. they get richer despite not having a nominal pay rise. This is why the poor now have smart phones and access to the wntire world of knowledge via the internet. The poorest person in NZ today is, in many ways, richer than the Rockerfeller of 100 years ago. Of course, if you just look at pay rates this gets lost.@@AnthonyFlack
Repealing the FPA just won't help with cost of living but I'm glad it will help Foodstuffs underpay employees and make larger profits each day
Australia owns most of the banks in NZ, they cut deals with Countdown/Woolworths and somehow get goverment approval for things like the Gold card which they take advantage of. The banks send 1 billion dollars offshore. Almost none of the petrol stations are 100% NZ owned (there is only 1 NZ owned), either American or Australian owned.
Is it really any surprise that Foodstuffs have trouble keeping up when theyre against that barrage?
Yet, Foodstuffs is the issue. I dont think so personally, but yeah 😊

Yes. Voters did well. Much more reason for some positivity in NZ now with some sane voices and hopefully pragmatism.
Not out of the woods yet though given the endless bs propaganda by climate change catastrophists, and critical race theory protagonists, like Cloe..
I agree - New Zealand chose well. Good to see we're on common ground.
So true - what is it about uncles at Christmas and their hot takes?
All the uncles are going to be getting an earful this Christmas. I've had a gutsful of their hot takes.
❤ Brooke so professional
You mean blatantly lying?
And painful to listen to when nothing she says has any substance and every sentence she says contradicts the last
Genuinely feel sorry for you that you think that. She's a hollow, empty liar.
Now this ACT MP is in cabinet she think hard before she answers. She has to defend policies she personally disagrees with.
The priority of the government is to do what the people asked.
And only that.
It's called Democracy 🤨
I agree that's democracy, but if that's the case then whatever we have now is not democracy (maybe it's corporatism?), because the priority of the government is to do what their election campaign donors asked; in this case that's largely the real estate industry.
@silenthawkstudios9924 lol your conspiracy theories are cringe.
Gets a bit murky when you vote for policies they campaigned n, and then they change them after coming to power. But that's MMP for you.
Given that we will still be using fossil fuels for some time to come (even based on the Greens wildest forecasts), it is surely better that we extract them in NZ, refine them in NZ and use them in NZ rather than dragging them around the Pacific for our consumption. In addition, we gain the security of our energy supply and we can monitor the industry within NZ rather than accept however they are sourcing the fossil fuels overseas.
Also I note that due to our limited gas production, Huntly was forced to use Coal (imported from Indonesia) last year, it would surely be cleaner and greener to secure our gas supply from NZ than use the imported coal?
It seems we have a lot of positive initiatives coming our way, we just need a bit of positivity injected into our media and perhaps even the Green party and things could go well.
Why "given that we will be using fossil fuels". Why will we when wind and solar can produce the energy for EV or hybrid cars, truck and trains.
@@motherofcatsnz Assuming we install enough wind and solar to meet the demand, we will also need some short term (batteries) and possibly longer term (pumped hydro) energy storage to allow us to keep the lights on during those calm nights. The pumped hydro will take a while to install (see how Snowy River 2 project is going in Aus). So we will need fossil fuel for a while for our electricity. In addition, we will still need fossil fuel for our cars, trucks and tractors (looking at how many older vehicles are still on the road today), we still need to reduce our reliance on the current overseas fossil fuel. Perhaps we aim for 2050 zero fossil fuels??
This legislation is around exploration, not extraction. If you're exploring, you're looking at long time horizons, where we should be carbon neutral by 2050. So either they will be bad investments because we won't use what they explore... Or we do use it and climate change gets even worse than predicted.
@@grahamfowke Anything "we" would get from the fossil fuel exploration would be a tiny percentage of what's there. It's not us exploring the coastlines and ripping up reefs, it's the global fossil fuel corporations like shell and exxon who couldn't give a rat's ass about us. By the time we even get oil or gas we wouldn't even need it, it is atleast a decade away if not more
Correct.

Chloe is obsessed with the sexualization of children. These are conversations for parents and their children. i am glad to see an adult like Brooke in parliament.
Brooke doesn't have her leader's capacity to isolate what she disagrees with when it comes to gender ideology, so that's frustrating.
not sure how safe sex education in high schools is "sexualizing" anyone. You realize sexual abuse can happen in the home right?
No she's not. This is entirely a projection on your part. Seek therapy
