    This is insanely helpful even after awakening, the shift in identify from thought to the presence was very clear but I didn't know what this "substance" is. When it happened, I was unable to say the word "I" even to myself for 3 days. The "I am" became "to be", broken grammar. When others said "you", referring to me, I'd be stunned or start laughing. This is Nisargadatta's "I am".. thank you for this video 🙏🏻

    Also, you might appreciate the work and TH-cam channel of Dr James Cooke, if you’re not already aware of him. He’s an English neuroscientist studying consciousness.

    Angelo, the description you provide of consciousness is precious. It provides in a way a 360 view of what is always known to be happening. The reason behind why the thumb on the scale stirs things up is very useful. Stirring the pot makes the pot further stirred, making us more present, creating more noise and friction - a self fulfilling prophecy. Also reminds me - there's a visual model of mental health of coils going in two directions. As difficulties arise and it triggers more trauma and we react to that trauma and cause more difficulties, mental health continues to decline and more difficult conditions arise. The other direction is the opposite, as positive events occur and we have more mental space and are able to digest traumas and difficulties, life improves and we build on the improvement and mental health improves as we have openness to digest more and more. It's just a useful model, not true. Anyhow, long story short, practice recently is just sitting until always difficult content comes up and then digesting the content. Practice may have always been this way, I just imagined it as something different.

    Interesting to hear you say "thoughts push and pull within consciousness", or something to that effect. Once upon a time, I was offered to try dmt, and it was nothing like how I'd heard it described. Several months later, I learned about 5meo-dmt and realized THAT is what I had experienced. An after effect was that I saw threads of light connecting all the people in the room, and I could see how my thoughts and words and intentions pushed and pulled at the strings, affecting those around me. It was very disconcerting to see how utterly responsible I am for what appears to be happening around me. It seems of the utmost importance to get back to a state of love and trust, and to forgive, for we truly do not know what we are doing.

    Thanks, in order to stop polarity mind suppose to be non reactive?

    • @nat998
      @nat998 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi 😀, I think the mind will always seek to react - seems intrinsic to its function. What you ARE already, NOT the mind model of you, already knows. Life, as it goes, is perfectly fine...Within You and Without You 🌞🎶

    • @SimplyAlwaysAwake
      @SimplyAlwaysAwake  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      At some point the practitioner can take up an investigation into the reactive self (typically some time after awakening). When this is clarified (equanimity) the reactivity can go essentially to zero. Seems impossible but it does happen with good practice.
      The fifth oxherding picture actually points this out clearly:
      5. Taming the Bull
      The whip and rope are necessary, Else he might stray off down some dusty road. Being well trained, he becomes naturally gentle. Then, unfettered, he obeys his master.
      Comment: When one thought arises, another thought follows. When the first thought springs from enlightenment, all subsequent thoughts are true. Through delusion, one makes everything untrue. Delusion is not caused by objectivity; it is the result of subjectivity. Hold the nose-ring tight and do not allow even a doubt.
      The term “unfettered” is well placed here as well, as to realize equanimity is to break the 4th and 5th fetter (desire and aversion).
      😃

    @rulamazigi5839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That’s what I was (perhaps poorly) trying to say in another comment. A Knowing space is here, regardless of whether or not an object is here to know. Knowing in and of itself also IS. Being/Knowing are identical - present, boundless (unmoving), transparent, shining…the explorations you suggested are deepening the realization. Sometimes fear of annihilation becomes intense and the mind, in that moment, takes over. It feels as though someone is struggling to stay alive and localized in a knowing/unlocalized spaceless space. This spaceless space isn’t anywhere but also everywhere, and within it the apparent dimensional space appears. This sounds crazy but this much is obvious and more real than real 🙏🏼 Sorry for so many words. Am I crazy? Am I fooling myself? That’s obviously the mind again 🤦🏻‍♀️

  • @KK-qd6ro

    Thank you for the word equanimity. I never had a word for it . I know i don't need a word for it. In the world of people i am autistic. My childhood was confusing, I didn't understand why people couldn't see how it really was. I struggled for many years to learn this world, the way people said it/I should be. I do like words they are symbols that can each mean multiple things . It is a little disturbing to see how much power people give up to words. The way you have arranged words could help many people. I shall view more of your videos.

    • @SimplyAlwaysAwake
      @SimplyAlwaysAwake  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Welcome! Yes equanimity, once it is clarified (meaning experienced clearly as “just the way this is” without overlays of processing and reactivity), I find that the practitioner realized that this relieves the vast majority of personal suffering, struggle, confusion, avoidance, and contraction.

      @@SimplyAlwaysAwake Hey Angelo, could you elaborate further on this? I’ve also found that it’s equanimity rather than awakening that relieves the majority of suffering… But I don’t know how to situate this fact within my understanding of the wisdom traditions as none of them seem have equanimity as the final goal.

    • @SimplyAlwaysAwake

    “Kappa,” said the Master, “for the sake of those people
    stuck in the middle of the river of being, overwhelmed by
    death and decay, I will tell you where to find solid ground.
    “There is an island, an island which you cannot go beyond.
    It is a place of nothingness, a place of non-possession and of
    non-attachment. It is the total end of death and decay, and this
    is why I call it Nibbana [the extinguished, the cool].
