- Monster High has been putting out some of the best G3 core dolls this year with Venus, Catty, and now Spectra!
I have been wanting Spectra for soooo long but I could not for the life of me find a decent looking doll.
This gorgeous ghoul has been out for some time now but she has rough quality control which led to me being picky and waiting to find the best one I could. I did eventually find one that spoke to me and oh boy, she did not disappoint.
Not to be annoying but I have very few critiques for this doll. She feels super consistent across the board and she is a welcome addition to Monster High G3!
I also do a quick and simple hair restyle towards the end if you would like to see that as well.

I have 3 Spectra's. 2 in box and 1 out of box. My OOB def has a bigger left eye I think that's just something about these. However amazon sent me one with absolutely HUGE bug eyes that I was going to return but FB group members convinced me to keep her because she's so funny.
Half my newer Barbies have a bigger left eye too, lol. Wonder if it’s a Mattel thing…

i don’t have spectra yet but i plan to buy her at some point. tbh i wasn’t super thrilled with her new design at first but the more reviews i see the more i’m sold. plus she looks MUCH prettier in person. 😍 i do want to give her some real chain accessories when i do add her to my collection, the plastic chains never seem to sit quite the way i want.

I was thinking to add some real chains too and might explore that idea in the future! And I agree that she definitely stuns even more in person, her face sculpt is especially captivating.

I think what you did with I think twayla and ghoulia where you cut their sleeves to make leg warmers would be great on her
To me her top half is very tiring to my eyes there's just too much of the same purple going on I think leaving her arms blank would just give that little break to your eyes to look at
I think it would like really help with the busy top empty bottom half situation

I feel like Spectra has a similar design obstacle like Frankie and Lagoona where because they have unique legs the designs typically want to highlight that feature.
I wanted to keep her cool translucent legs on full display for now but I definitely hope she has some different fashion in the future that isn’t too limited by her legs.
With the box hair comentary, im so conflicted seeing new collectors complain like "ew my doll's hair is gross hate this doll blablabla" like girl it was in a box for god knows how much time you just need to brush it or something, like actually take care of the dolls? I will never understand why people collect something that they don't wana dealt with, when we were in the trenches washing gel and treating glue head let alone recrearte hairstyles, and i get not waiting to do all that but brushing your doll??? Srsly i don't get why people seems to think that a little boxhair is the worst problem in a doll
Yeah I have come to accept that the doll collecting community is so vast and some people treat dolls almost like funko pops or action figures where how they come out of the box is how they display them, which is a totally valid way to collect!
The thing is for me, not every doll out of the box is created equally. Some are totally display ready with perfectly soft and styled hair, and then some are in need for a spa day.
I enjoy the creative aspect of doll collecting where you can restyle the fashion, wash and restyle hair, reroot the hair, face ups etc. but I know not everyone cares about that side of things.
NOW, I think some people do care but maybe feel inept skill wise and try to fix their dolls but then fail or mess up which deters them from trying again. That’s why I like to try and encourage playing with and fixing dolls on my channel bc it really is more accessible then people realize, and it makes this hobby so much more fun and fulfilling! Ok rant over :)
Honestly this is the realist comment I’ve read in this community like there’s plenty of more things that we can focus on other than bad box here like Quality Control for instance

I’m so stoked, she’s the doll I have been looking forward to the most. I love the G1 ghost ghouls and purple is my favorite color…then they made her literally the MOST gorgeous doll ever!!! That MUG! I’m deceased!
Ferrets are not great pets and they STINK so bad! They are adorable but not as pets.
Yesss her mug is perfection!! Some of her screenings are a little messy but when you find the perfect face she is unmatched!
And ok good to know, I’ll stay away from ferrets for now lol
As far as the Mason jar thing goes I kinda think Spektra is supposed to be a bit out of date because it reflects when she died. She wore a handkerchief skirt in g3 when those weren't popular for years at that point.
13:38 Doll collecting and whether to leave it as is, or embellish it? This is so very similar to motorcycling! Some folks will buy it stock, ride it, enjoy it, maybe add some accessories or some pinstriping. Then you've got motorcyclists, where it's almost a spiritual thing and you get the bike, bond with the bike, and make it your own. 🥰
And PS! She's very, very similar to Midnight Runway Spectra, quite gorgeous. 🙂👍

Dolls like Spectra is proof that G1 stans are delusional. I'm sorry but G3 is blowing them out the water not only with diversity but design wise too.
I feel like G1 and G3 both have their fair share of amazing dolls with some flops here and there, but lately G3 has been super consistent and yes, Spectra is def a testament to that!
You probably weren’t even old enough to participate in the heyday back then also if you want to settle with the doll that comes with polypropylene hair and no stand by all means rave away

I have 2 ferrets, Minerva and Diana. They can definitely get smelly, they have scent glands, but I've never had an issue with animal smells so it doesn't bother me too much.
I feel like I would probably be fine too then, I don’t have smell issues typically either!
