    A large part of deciding your party in the original Baldur's Gate trilogy was deciding who to put the Gauntlets of Dexterity on. That legacy continues.

    Gloves of Dex are great on barbarians or tavern brawler monks, allows you to get good AC while prioritizing strength and allows you to have range be a viable option even in the late game (titanstring bow anyone?)
    Also synergizes really well with armor of agility or yuan ti scale mail since you add your full dexterity modifier to those armors.

      Having fun with Yuan Ti armour and the gloves of dex on Laezel with max strength. Made her absolute lead fighter right now especially with gith crossbow that can be infused with arcane energy

    This is one of the best BG3 videos I've seen. I'm not much of a build player, but the way you broke down these gloves was great. In a game that can get complicated pertaining to exactly how items work, your video was very eye opening. Subscribed.

    They definitely are giga strong! For ranged, the only other gloves that I can think of that rival them would be Gloves of archery since those are a +2 to hit and dmg rolls, so +7 if you have 20 dex, but as you've pointed out, then you can't dump dex as a stat, and/or a different feat.

    • @CreativeExcusesGaming
      @CreativeExcusesGaming  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Archery gloves are only +2 to damage, not attack rolls! But those are definitely great gloves if the dex gloves are already taken!

    Markoheshkir is sick. If it had just Kereshka's favor, it would already be the best magic item, but it also has Arcane Battery, and the casting bonus... oh boy. But I agree that the Dex gloves are truly sick!! Cheers !

      @@CreativeExcusesGaming scrolls disappear after usage and if you don't cheese the economy with the backpack trick, why waste your time pick pocketing scrolls when you have an item with which you can cast it 3 times a day guaranteed? If I have to choose between a scroll of chain lightning and globe of invulnerability, I'll take the globe every time, because no item can generate the globe.

      @@marcduhamel-guitar1985 you dont have to cheese the economy when pickpocketing is as op as it is. Greater invis on a level 11 rogue lets you steal like 3-6 chain lightning scrolls a day, plus as many globes of invuln as you want. Its probably one of the strongest strategies in the game.

    I beg to differ on that alert feat being overkill argument because I've lost a few solo honor runs out of my several completed ones purely because I didn't go first. Now I try to cram in alert feat in just about any build with the exception of ones that use sentinel shield + a bow with initiative. I always build my characters with at minimum 16 dex "minus if using these gloves" + 14 constitution + 16 in my casting modifier and then run an asi, gwm, or sharpshooter with the alert feat being picked up by around act 2 when it starts to matter. By act 3 most enemies having 20-28 dex means that you wont hardly ever go first in a solo with just 16-18 dex.

    • @CreativeExcusesGaming
      @CreativeExcusesGaming  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Id probably say solo runs are the exception, not the rule. With a well built party, alert is overkill. When solo, you need every advantage you can get and going first is pretty essential to your action economy so its value is much higher.
      I didnt have solo play in mind for this video as Ive never done a solo run

    I simply refer to anything before Baldurs Gate as Part 1 and Baldurs Gate itself as Part 2. Parts don’t work the same as Acts so it’s easy to go with.

    • @CreativeExcusesGaming
      @CreativeExcusesGaming  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      See I think the Creche is Act 2 because it changes regions and forces the tiefling story forward regardless of how many long rests youve made, even zero. You can go all the way to the door to the shadowlands in the underdark without forcing the tiefling story forward, but if you go to the mountain pass, i think youre in act 2.

    I do agree the gloves being an amazing piece of gear for pretty much every character but calling the dex bonus a +4 to everything is a bit of an exageration, most characters can just afford 14 or 16 dexterity because they won't need much else on other stats so the bonus is not as dramatic as you make it out to be.
    I will give you thqt these open up builds like a str monk tavern brawler and the +1 to attack is really great but I find that by mid act 3 there are better pieces of gear for most casters and martials

    • @CreativeExcusesGaming
      @CreativeExcusesGaming  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Right, its only a +4 if you respec and dump dex or choose to dump dex to start and then power through act 1 without good initiative. If youre willing to respec and dump though, theyre incredible.

    • @Chonus
      @Chonus 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you might have missed his main point, being that they are really only getting full value on multi attribute dependent builds likes monks and paladins, whereas other builds can comfortably get 16 dex as a secondary stat and use more important synergistic pieces like the gloves of the belligerent sky. Don't get me wrong I still think they're one of the best gloves in act 1-2. @@CreativeExcusesGaming

    Does puzzle me all the hate Laezel gets. Must just because people deem her ugly. She one of the most interesting characters especially with her arc. I been having a lot of fun with her as my main fighter with these gloves and I ended up making Karlach heavy armoured fighter instead of barbarian and she beastly. Managed to get most of my party up to 20+ AC. Dex is really oversaturated stat tbh

      @Henbot OH im big dumb 😂 I think dex needs a nerf tbh, specifically I want initiative to be calculated like: 1d4 + dex mod/2 rounded down + int mod/2rounded up because dex is waaaaay oversaturated like you said, and int needs a huge buff to be even reasonable. We shouldnt be crushing the game while every character gets to be dumb as a box of rocks unless theyre a wizard.

    Nah. These gloves are good, don't get me wrong, but they rarely make the cut on most of my builds, losing out to gloves that are more specific and more beneficial to each build. I always take at least 14, usually 16 dex on most of my characters anyway, and I don't usually need the build points enough that I need to dump dex. In retrospect, I might've used these as opposed to the gloves of belligerent skies on my lightning mage, because that character really did need the build points, and reverberation wasn't needed when everything falls over dead anyway.

    • @CreativeExcusesGaming
      @CreativeExcusesGaming  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I definitely like them more on martial characters than on casters, but they can be very good if you want to multiclass like a charisma and wisdom class pairing and get decent casting stats for both.
      But they are a beautiful thing on dexbarians and rangers. I love them on both

    • @garyco766
      @garyco766 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CreativeExcusesGaming The problem on martials is that they compete with helldusk gloves, legacy of the masters, and/or the giant str gloves. Early on, for a ranged character, you're better off taking glovers of archery and building for dex. They are really good on Lae'zel early on, though.

    • @CreativeExcusesGaming
      @CreativeExcusesGaming  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @garyco766 Ahh but helldusk and the strength gauntlets are laaaaate act 3, and they dont free up as many (if any) feats like the dex gloves do. The dex gloves are also great on early ranged builds because you can immediately take sharpshooter and still have the equivalent of 20 dex for accuracy

    • @garyco766
      @garyco766 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CreativeExcusesGaming Sure, but you have lesser Helldusk and Gloves of the Automaton from the moment you reach Last Light, and Legacy from the moment you reach the lower city. I would argue that on a GWM build, Legacy is the clear winner since they need all the + to hit you can get, but until then Dex guantlets are in the running, but not clearly better than Lesser Hulldusk or Automaton. On a ranged build (or any dex based build) you're going to want 22 dex, and as long as you're building for dex you may as well use gloves of archery or lesser helldusk (though Legacy might be best for this build too in act 3).
