Tesla is not going out of business and is actually likely to become the world's largest car maker in a few years... once they release full autonomous driving cars they will corner the market. I bought a new Tesla, for cash, last year--totaled it three days (and, yes it was mainly the battery replacement cost). I got every penny back from the insurance company including taxes and all fees, plus I received the $7,500 tax credit. One of the best investments I made that year! Loved the car, buying again when the new Model Y comes out. Oh yeah, small tip: put the car in "chill" mode before you ever take it out of the lot. It can really move!.

DON'T EVER TRY TO REBUILD A TOTALLED CAR NO MATTER WHAT! My husband was broadsided by someone and the insurance automatically totalled it. It is a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. We chose to have it rebuilt because it was the only car we had at the time. The frame wasn't bent so we thought that's good and come to find out that after it was rebuilt, we couldn't get it insured too easily. We finally found an insurance company that would insure it. Anyway, it isn't worth even the blue book value. WE WON'T DO THAT AGAIN! The Cobalt runs good still.
I have developed a safe, low cost, high current battery but will not let it out. I'm terrfied for my life.
Scott, you're almost right about Oakland.
I know of one junction that's switched to stop signs and it's not because people are stealing the copper wires. If that were the case, they'd just switch out the wires to aluminum. The issue was that the homeless encampments are tapping into the consoles for it's electricity. It often messes up the circuits and the light's systems fall back to blinking red on all sides.
The city repaired it several times then just got sick of it and stuck up stop signs.
So as usually the media lied to make it seem like it may not be the homeless people.
Well at least it's more energy efficient........which California is all about right? 😁
How many homes have these Tesla's burned down again?? & The fire department I'm told cannot extinguish an EV on fire out due to that wonderful battery. There is no upside to owning any electric vehicle.
Gas cars are 30 TIMES more likely to catch fire than Teslas! Get over it.
Toyota is one of the few companies out there that you can trust. They said from the beginning that the world is not ready for EVs and we need a transition period which is hybrid vehicles. Looks like they were right.
Pacifica hybrid is an amazing car
Different parts of the world are more ready than others. Look at Norway or even China. The US is being left in the dust and "needs" a transition period because of all of the resistance to rapidly upgrading our infrastructure. Toyota loves the US because we are moving like snails. And that's also why many in the US are convinced that hybrid tech from 27 years ago is so compelling.
Uber and lyft should’ve left anyway just on principle
Ez to say if you don’t live in MN
Tesla has 30 billion in the bank and nearly no debt. They will be fine. Vehicles sales are extremely interest rate dependent. Tesla is also one of the only companies that make money on the cars.

Depends on the car but a Model Y can be replaced for 15k if not covered under warranty
Base RWD older model 3 battery replacement goes from $7k to $9k
Hi there, thank you for sharing.
I yes bought a tesla Y, impulsive purchase. Very comfy car, drove like a dream. However
there was no charging station except for 15 miles away (I moved). It got a max of 320 miles per chrage, but only if you drive that much in a day. To save the battery they tell you to only charge it
to a max of 80%, thats about 260. I was driving back and forth to the charger 30 miles RT.
The glass roof got hot as heck in the Florida sun, which makes the interior very very hot. So, after

Here is something I have been wondering. If Tesla goes down what happens to the cars? The rely so much on the servers to just operate. Will the cars be locked in valet mode? Will they even allow you to drive? Will the car simply not recognize ownership changes?

Good Lord Scotty are you paid by the oil companies. My 2013 Tesla Model S has its original battery. I’m on 181,000 miles and it’s been zero maintenance except tires over 11 years.
There are three Teslas in our family and have been for years. No expense. No breakdowns. Never go to service station. They fill up with energy in the garage overnight. And they plan to buy new ones in the future.

All this EV bashing in the comments is just a bunch of copycats piling on and parroting each other. It's mostly unfounded. EV's are fun and generally cost effective (if you buy something like a Chevy Bolt or a Nissan Leaf, not a Tesla). The instant torque and acceleration make them a joy to drive, the quietness of the ride gives even cheap EV's a luxury feel to them, and charging at home is so convenient and so cost-effective. No messy oil changes, typically no maintenance other than tire rotations, replacing wipers, stuff like that. No fumes in the garage, no stains on my driveway. There's actually a lot to like about EV's, Tesla dramas notwithstanding.
You can't judge EV's in general just by critiquing Tesla. That would give a false impression that EV's are inherently unreliable or of poor build quality, when that's not actually the case.
I just bought two cars with one week. One was a sweet 1972 Chevy C-20 3/4 ton truck. The other car was a Full Self Drive Tesla model Y. The two cars could not be more different. I guarantee you I’ll put 20X more miles on the Tesla and I’ll be spending 10X of keeping the truck running. Neither car needs smog checks and that is a nice thing.
Why on gods earth do we need to smog are cars so often. In reality 99% of cars will always pass the smog test and the DMV knows very well which cars have and chance of failing smog tests. I think it’s a scam with the testing centers lobbying for the need to test again and again.
If demand was "surging" prices would rise, not fall.

You lose credibility when you exaggerate. Yes, you can spend up to $20,000 on a new battery for a Tesla. But that applies to a Model S and there aren't that many of them on the roads. For a Model 3 the price is around $14,000. For a Model Y the cost is only around $5,500.

For some reason my very smart friend is buying up Tesla stock and says I should too. I don’t think they will go out of business. Even though I don’t like EV’s necessarily.
The reason for your friend’s recommendation:
1. If you believe that robotaxi will become mainstream in 5 years
2. If you believe that humanoid robots will become mainstream in 10 years
3. If you believe that Tesla will participate in robotaxi and humanoid robot market
4. Half the country that dislikes Elon’s politics may be blind to future Tesla valuation
5. The other half of the country that still are not sold on the idea of EVs aren’t buying stock either
6. Ergo, Tesla stock could probably be depressed compared to what it could be worth in the future
I do not have an EV. I am an electrical engineer, not a financial person. I purchased a lot of Tesla stock for the above reasons and sitting on it for at least 10 years. I may be wrong, but perhaps you can ask your friend if he shares my reasons.
