My name is Darrell and i'm from Canada . I have a 2004 Mazda B4000 4x4 that i bought real cheap, and it needs almost nothing to safety. But like all the rest of them my passenger back door at the bottom wont release . But after watching your video i fixed that little problem real fast .... So i would like to say Thank-you very much for all your help , and HAPPY TRUCKIN ,,, Darrell.

Similar situation on mine except it’s not rusted the cable came off so pulling does nothing I will try your technique thanks. Where you able to restore the door without replacing it

I did nothing more with the door as it worked fine after that fix for as long as I had the truck.

What I don’t understand is what you pushed

I was able to wedge a screwdriver in and with a hammer loosen and push the actual locking mechanism back to the open position. If you look at when I turn the whole licking component over at 2:11 you can see it on the bottom.

@@y23803 I think I follow you. This is so key right now. Finally got the panel mostly off enough to give me access, after 3 years of getting frustrated and saying screw it.Tried the PB Blaster for the 3rd time today. It will fail. All this time I thought it was the cable in addition to being stuck. Cable works, but it's just rusted stuck. Hopefully the hammer and screw driver pushes me over the finish line.

Have this same issue. Thought it would be the cable end issue, but the lower latch seems completely jammed with rust and non-functional. Thanks for the tip on prying, hopefully I'll have luck with that.

Same on my 2003 Ranger, rusted tight. Kicked the door open and the latch will not lock now. screws are rusted tight. Have to drill them out to remove the latch. Sigh!

I’ve got an 02 ranger as well and the door seals are terrible. Any hard rain and my doors fill with water

    thanks for the video !
one question - how did you get the door panel off without 1st opening the door?
some areas of the panel seem too tightly wedged against the frame (while the door's shut)

Hi... sorry I just noticed your question. It's been a while but I don't recall having any problem getting that door panel off. I may not have been able to get it completely off due to it being latched at the top but I think I just propped it up out of the way.
