    Hi guys! So just to clarify... the formula to find the back hip and front hip measurement is found in 0:20 of the video.
    Example: Hip 44
    Front hip = (hip/4) -0.25”
    Back hip= (hip/4) +0.25”
    Front hip is 10.75 while the Back hip is 11.25
    Front crotch extension ( a quarter of front hip measurement ) see minute 5:14 of video
    Back crotch extension ( half of back hip measurement) see minute 5:06 of video.
    I hope this helps ❤️❤️🙏🏾
    WATCH THIS to see how I sew the trousers, they came out perfect! th-cam.com/video/9zaxZwo8W4o/w-d-xo.html

      So if I understand 44" is the circumference around the hips. So you would only use that formula if you didn't measure from center front to side seam to get your back hip arc and your front hip arc. So I took my measurements differently because I'm using a book and your videos (which are super helpful) and I measured from center front to side seam. So my (side seam) front hip arc and my back hip arc are already measured exactly where they need to be therefore all I would need to do is add ease to both. Does this sound right?
      If I measured the circumference of the hips and divided by 4 all four sides would be exactly equal (and our bodies aren't equal, the front and back are different) that's why you would need to do the subtracting part to the front of the pants. Right? ರ_ರ I hope I'm understanding this right hehe.

      I'm sorry , when you say half of back hip measurement going by Hip of 44" for instance. Will be 11 25 divided by 2? Will that not be too long?

      @@nkemamanambu5404 again; you’ll need to pay attention. In the beginning I shared the formula to get back hip & front hip from full hip measurements. It’s also in the pinned comments.

    It would be less confusing if the lines were actually labeled “waist, hip, crotch” etc instead of by letters. Other than that, it’s a great method.

      Thank you for you suggesting however in pattern drafting letters/ numbers help because you have so many lines and some don’t have names as they’re just guidelines. Nonetheless I hope you were able to understand 😊

    • @SewUnique_ng
      @SewUnique_ng  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much; I’m glad you enjoyed it. For fitted pants, you’ll need to make it fitted using those measurements you mentioned and the centre line as a reference point. To make jumpsuits, rompers etc; you’ll need to make a bodice, combine both so the darts meet. I hope this makes sense?

    Is it compulsory to make the dart 1"?. Can't the total dart be 1" making it 0.5" on both sides instead of 1"?

    Can you explain how I can calculate the front and back cross extensions. The hip measurement I am using is 44 inches. Thanks

    • @SewUnique_ng
      @SewUnique_ng  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nadine. I’ve put all the calculations and formulas in the video. Kindly watch it again & pay attention.
      Example: Hip 44
      0:20 in video shows the calculations for:
      Front hip = (hip/4) -0.25”
      Back hip= (hip/4) +0.25”
      Back hip is 11.25
      Front crotch extension ( a quarter of front hip measurement) see minute 5:14 of video
      Back crotch extension ( half of back hip measurement) see minute 5:06 of video.
      I hope this helps

      Yes!! I have watched several tutorials and don't understand any of them when it comes to this point. When you go from O to the mark just before A. I take my waist measurement and then add two and a half inches. It's past the a mark

    Excuse maam !!
    May i know what is the measurment of your hip and waist
    Cause im copying your toturial but
    I just cant follow it.
    Like when im connecting the mark O to the waistline
    My waistline is 7.75 then you said +2.25=10
    But my hipline is 9.5 why is the waistline so big and the hipline is so small do i not get right the measurement of the body..
    Plss can you answer me because its my project😔

      Umm i have a last question if you mark out the front hip measurement +0.25 for ease do it has to be + or -
      Cause the formula is Hip/4)-0.25
      And the back is already +.25 on the hip
      Do the front will also +.25 or -.25
      Sorry for asking😅

    • @SewUnique_ng
      @SewUnique_ng  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, you don’t calculate it, just like hips, waist & trouser length, the measurement should be taken.
      The only issue might be ensuring it’s taken properly. I hope this helps ❤️

      @@victorynemi7369 yes they are… the same way brands develop their size charts based off a series of test, you develop your size chart including the crotch depth after a series of test. I find that my Uk size 10-12 uses a similar crotch depth (high waisted pants) of 11”
