How to Draft Basic Ladies' Pants with Slant Pockets and Elastic Waistband

- Pattern Drafting is an important part of fashion designing and requires tremendous skills and practice. Pattern drafting is where pattern pieces are drawn on paper according to body measurement which becomes the base for designers to create garments. There are various techniques that professionals use, some of them are creating block pattern, tracing, and making final pattern.
Before starting to draft the pattern, arm yourself with the following:
1. Pattern paper/Manila paper
2. Long ruler (80 cm)/Short (30cm)
3. French curve
4. Pencil and eraser
5. Tape measure
6. Hip curve
Measurements Needed:
1. Waist
2. Hips
3. Knee circumference
4. Bottom Width
5. Pants length
Cutting the Final Patterns
Once you are done with the manipulation and allocation of allowances on the pattern, you may now cut the final pattern following the guidelines below:
1. Use appropriate cutting tool. It must be sharp enough to cut edges and curves smoothly. Never use fabric shears in cutting pattern.
2. Cut exactly on the seam allowances. Do not try to increase or decrease it so that problems will be prevented during garment construction. This also facilitates an easier and exact placement of patterns when planning for pattern layout.
3. To cut curved areas smoothly, like crotch, make a short cut using the tip of the scissors.
4. For patterns that need to be prepared in double like pockets, have a ready pattern to plan the layout easily. This is an advantage when the fabric is limited for specific project but be sure to make its identical pieces.

Hi! Pag nagdraft kasi ng back mag aadd ng 1/2" sa knee and bottom. Pag di nagbawas ng 1/2" hindi lalabas yung desired knee & bottom circumference madadagdagan ng 1" yung sukat. Hips may additional din pero ok lang yon kc elasticized nman ang waistline at pra comfortable gumalaw

Sa module po kasi namin ma'am may Waist-1(W-1), at Waist-2(W-2) hangang Waist 4 po, wala nakalagay sa module kung anong sukat nung W-1 hehe pero ayos na po ma'am nakapagpasa na po ako, Salamat po!

Hi! Sorry I missed your request. You can use 3" for the neck width and 4" for the neck depth if you are making house dress (daster). For ladies' blouse you can use the basic neckline 2 1/2" for the neck width and 3" for the neck depth. Thank you!

Most of the time my sleeves and armhole are not that good fit
Hi! When you get your desired armhole circumference. Draft the sleeve then reduced 1/2" on the cap portion of the sleeve. You
can stay stictch first the cap portion of the sleeve 1/8" from the seam allowance before attaching. Thanks

One of the most challenging part of dressmaking is the attaching of sleeves and collar. Make a single row of staystitch on the cap of the sleeve and if you think that the sleeve is bigger than the armhole pull the threads on the staystitch to make some easing without occuring wrinkles just to make it fit on the armhole.
