    I have raised a few pups. I always keep them in crates until they are house broken. I have found the best training for biting is to yelp when they bite. They quickly catch on and are very gentle after that.

    Great videos. Those puppies are way calmer than my 15 week old standard poodle puppy. He fights the leash aggressively, bites everything and everyone and is totally wild when not sleeping , all the time. Trying with positive training and these tips but there are very few, if any, moments to reward.

    The crate was a lifesaver for my puppies nipping. He was overstimulated a bunch so he'd get 15 minutes of fun and then got a nap. Eliminated at least 90% of the nipping.

    Couple problems i have with this:
    1: My puppy hates the collar and while wearing it, she is preoccupied with scratching it for the most part. My family already doesn't want to heed the advice i give them and this makes them keep taking off the collar.
    2: my puppy is not interested in food and even if she does eat, she doesn't seek more... and this while she eats less than the daily recommended amount.

    I am so glad you make these videos! We got two puppies, yes TWO, 3 weeks ago and I started watching your videos before we got them to get prepared. I've been able to teach them a bunch of tricks (most in the first week of having them!) and they have been crate trained since the first week. Only the first few nights were iffy, but by the end of the week they were fine. Now at week 3 they know "in" and go right on in! You've made my life easier!! Haha. Right now I am struggling with biting and some potty training issues, so going through your videos on that and looks like I need to tighten up and fine tune in some areas of their training. Thank you so much again, for making these videos!!! Next will be leash manners/pulling and rushing the door 🥴

    I have a 12 week old puppy rotti and he is a land shark too. He wouldn’t stop nipping me so I put his collar on and took him outside for a moment. He sat on the grass next to me and didn’t nip me once, then I took him back inside and then put him in his crate. I snuggled him, gave him a kiss and a treat for listening and he laid right down after a few sad looks. Now he’s asleep.

    When they get wild, the witching hour, lol. We call it the zoomies. Y’all know what I’m talking about. Starts doing laps around the kitchen, toy to toy, trying to nip you while flying around. She’s right, lock that nipping down. And not even people, curtains, tables, etc. Nah, nah, nah. Especially when the nieces and nephews come over. Then it scares them away. Not having that. Going through it right now. I’ve had three Rottweilers and other pups, and as puppies, I had to learn this myself. The hard, sometimes the bleeding way because their teeth are like little razors. But this is a great vid. Learn from this lady. She knows. 100% agree with her.
    *with the exception of my 5 year old niece. I taught her and she actually knows to do this. She has no fear. Bless her soul.

    My 4-month-old Australian Cattle Dog is very aggressive and sometimes lunges at me and tries to grab/bite my hands or arms. She is constantly nipping at my feet and toes. I have watched most of your videos on biting and have gained lots of tricks but she still will go from calm and settled to a lunging, out-of-control dog in a split second. She is slowly getting better but I have dozens of bits and scratches on both arms and more on my hands. I use the house line and grab ner collar but that just provokes her even more. at times she is so out of control I must give her a timeout just to settle her down. Later I get her out of her crate and she is sweet as pie and calm and then listens to me. She is very food motivated and sits and obeys when I give her treats, but ten minutes after she is jumping and wanting to bite me. Help, What can I do for the jumping, biting, and lunging at me?

    This is a puppy.....his mom goes away a whole day and put him in a crate /bench a whole day.....????? And then wonder why the pup is overexcited and does some nipping. Don't get a pup if you work all day and don't have the time to watch after him. To have the pup take a nap and relax and don't let him overwhelmed by new expressions in the crate is fine. They still needs to get a lot of sleep. A little biting in a not over exciting or hyperactive way is part of being a pup exploring the world. The more you give attention to the biting or react, the more your pup will do it. Because they want your attention. So reaction, and constantly focusing on not biting, is attention.

    one big problem i have is while playing with my 4 month old English Bulldog with her toys , she wants to go for my hands and arms specificaly instead of the toy i am holding. how do i help prevent that?

    Can you talk about training with a harness vs a collar? Our dogs are Houdini’s and can slip out of it too easily even if it’s tighter, the harness is the way we trained them when they were puppies and I just got a new puppy that I want to properly train

    I have a Goldendoodle and she seems untrainable….. the only success so far is potty training. But she bites sooooo hard even when I’m trying to get her to use her brain by training her…… she barely nips my husband. When she bites me I don’t pet her hoping she would learn to not bite. I have a leash on her except when she’s sleeping. I give her toys to bite instead of me so she grabs the toy, bites it for about 10 seconds then bites me again…. yes she has a crate that she loves and runs to often
    I’ve been training her the minute she got home (8 weeks, she’s now 11 weeks) i feel like giving up and paying money for a trainer, she’s so crazy, 90% of the time she doesn’t sit when I tell her either. Should I give it a couple more weeks and try to exercise her more? I was hoping she might be alittle easier to train once she’s 12 weeks, when she’s able to burn energy with other dogs

      Did it improve? Currently have a golden doodle who’s crazy and even with potty training it’s been rough as he peed if he’s outside of the crate literally mid training him etc even after having taking him out to potty. Hopefully it got better for you

      My labradoodle puppy is 9 months old & 60 pounds. He is nipping at me frequently, even when I try to take his collar sometimes. I do lots of praising, he gets plenty of exercise. I am at a loss. Should I try this method of treat at his nose & holding his collar?

We have been trying to work in this for 2 weeks and he keeps making poor choices ughhh

      @katuwasa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spatrk6634 I’ve only had him a few weeks so we’re still getting used to each other. He’s friendly and very energetic but he’s really strong which makes his biting a little intense. He doesn’t bite down or chomp or anything like that. It’s really gentle. But because of his strength, and him getting jumpy when he plays, his head gets very fluid and his nibbles feel a little stronger. I have a 2yo dachshund that sometimes plays the same way but he’s only 13lbs so it’s not a big deal. But my pitsky is also a little stubborn so it’s been difficult to get him to redirect.

    Hello, i hope someone answers my question. I have a 8 week old female lab and she aint got her final vaccine yet so she cannot go outside. i have a crate (she loves it) and a fence that i put together so it kinda makes her home and "back yard". Inside the fence i put her "litter box" where she goes potty. Now i see a lot of people use crate and lock the door at night, but i dont lock it. My pup goes 1912412 times a night to the toilet. So basically i want to ask is it ok if the crate door is open and she can wonder around the crate and her backyard freely ?

    My puppy will cry in the crate for hours at a time. Do you have any help with that? The second I close the door the whining starts.

    • @srslybri
      @srslybri 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve done the broom trick. you put the crate beside your bed (and move it further out each day) but everytime they cry hit the crate with your hand or broom and it startles them and once they’re quiet then say “good boy!/good girl!” and they will associate quietness with being a good dog. after 3 hits of the crate the crying went away! along with a blanket over the top too

    One issue I 've had while doing this exercise with my 9 week old Pup is that as soon as he knows where the food is coming from he goes for that food whether it is in a bowl, or pouch. He goes crazy trying to get at the food and doesn't focus on the food in my hand because the payoff is where the most food is. How do you overcome that?

    • @brucegrover8658
      @brucegrover8658 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Feed him in his crate. So he knows you are the one that feeds him. Also helps him be comfortable with his crate. I put the water in the crate too after the food is gone because I want him to learn to relax shortly after he heats so his stomach won’t turn.
      I try not be too reliant on food/treats and use more positive reinforcement but it is tough. My 9 week bernadoodle is either high energy or knocked out. Never a calm. I just want to pet him and he is trying nip or chew on his leash or me while in the house. I get tired of telling him 50x times a day. Just trying to find a better way to communicate with him.
