Same situation here in Australia. Everyone (& their Grandma 😂) are doing home reno jobs, or landscaping jobs in their yard. We've done the same. Terry painted the house when we were in lockdown and he couldn't work.... and we've since started a garden reno job... + now planning a mini reno in the house. 😊 It's all looking great.. You guys are doing a fantastic job !!
Thanks Guys ..... Yet another Great vidclip ..... Lovely to watch All the Progress .... Living your life Vicariously from New Zealand .... very Best to All .... Keep well, Cheers ...
Concrete , concrete ! Cement comes in a tanker , Concrete comes in a Ready Mix truck (or bag :) Sorry I spent 37 years in the Concrete Business, Done it all Poured it , Delivered it with a mixer Batched it (as a Dispatcher). as well as managed a ready mix plant .Wall looks great !
Nice to see the progress. Like your new truck too. Just the right size. We look forward to seeing all your videos. Wishing Sarah the best at FHU. We have a friend who works in one of the offices there. God bless you all.
Practice makes for better results obviously what with this builds outcome this time around. Good job guys. You will appreciate that gravel around the place. Less mud to deal with. Progress is a good thing. Keep at it and keep your eyes on the goal. Don't forget to enjoy the journey, it isn't all about the "destination". Cheers!
Don't forget about your brakes on that truck. If you had to do an emergency stop on the freeway doing 60mph that would be a dangerous situation with the truck overloaded like that. Its a LOT of extra weight to stop and a high center of gravity. Stay safe we want more vids from you! 😁
One of the nicest things about using real lumber for forms is the cool wood-grain and plank finish you get on the concrete! Dark brown masonry paint on top and you have a faux timber stem wall 😂
I would like to get out of Connecticut and Massachusetts. I was thinking about moving to Florida or Texas. I'm use to the cold so moving Idaho might be the way to go. My uncle was a Mason until the day he died. I worked for him for a few years. He would be proud of your work.
Nice formwork and foundation. I am so glad you used anchor bolts, and the special anchor bolts at the garage door opening, plus you are considering shear walls now. These items are so critical for home building. The Portal Frame with Holdown (PFH) method is a nice one in the code book for residential garage openeings. In third world countries, 25,000 people drop dead just like that in an Earthquake. It is because they have no anchor bolts or shear walls. I am not one for a lot of red tape, but there are some areas of the Building Code that I admire so greatly, like shear walls and anchor bolts. A house next to yours without adhering to shear wall building can crumble right to the ground in an Earthquake. The Wood Structural Panel (WSP, sheathing) is like a diaphram working to rock the house as a unit so that the swaying is uniform, and likely saving the house. No anchor bolts? Well a house will roll right off the foundation. Keep up the good work! This pour has less buldges. 😁😁😁

It's Saturday morning here in Australia Aussies are like waaayyy ahead of you guys. Orrite, just messin' with you. Srsly, You mentioned your take on what's going on in your State, Idaho sounds like a great place to live. My view is it comes down to individuals, and just how optimistic they feel about the future.
The whole country is having that trouble getting lumber. I live WV and I travel to VA, NC, TN, KY, OH,PA, MD, to get building material. Metal roofing is the hardest to get.
Im wonder wich idiots don't like this video it's been awesome to see you guys grow and build all these thing love it wish you guys all the best lots of love from south africa
I always hesitate to ask but do you give shout out's for starting TH-cam channels?? I know one channel put it on the community page. People get pretty worked up about this sometime. Never hurts to ask. Thanks for a great channel! God bless!!
Love Love Love! I enjoy watching your videos, I just subbed :) We too have a channel and have just finished building our homestead. We built a barndominum thats Red Iron and we are getting use to living out in the woods. We have a lot of goats and do a lot of gardening and hunting. Keep up the good work!
Before you fill in the floor of the garage you might consider a small cellar for storage of canning and food storage which needs a cool dark place. Wouldn't take much more work to add one. Just an Idea.
I built a deck 2 months ago. was going to use 2x6s could not find any. had the build with 2x8s and 5/4 and had to go to 3 different stores to get 5/4 and still had to wait a few weeks to finish waiting on boards.
Just some info for you to consider. Water averages about 8 lbs. per gallon. You should find out how many gallons the tank holds . 8x(tank gals)= weight Nice show, thanks
Looks like the battery terminals need a little attention. There are two things that would help improve the life and quality of the battery. One, making sure that there are felt washers installed under the power connection. Two, make sure the terminals are sprayed with the purple stuff (anti corrosion spray.). Also I learned you can make windshield washer fluid the same as the store stuff. Basically 1 cup non-amonia windex and 1 gallon of water. Something tells me this will become the Sethmobile.....
@@That1ufo I'm not a "know it all", but I have carted water in a few different sorts of containers, (tanks) from big water trucks, with baffles inside the tank, to smaller rural fire fighting trucks , with a 200 gallon tank on the back, and they had 3 chambers to them, and I feel that a 1,000 Litre pod, like old Mate Martin was using is prolly best filled to the brim, cause there's no baffles in it. Like the last thing that you need is a ton of water sloshing about, it's like having a really bad pillion passenger on the back of your motor bike.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving - Wow! Quick turnaround. Your families are going to be so grateful to have a warm dry place to stay when they come visit. I'm rooting for y'all!!
Great Job, I wanted to know if you should have put drain lines in and pipes for maybe under ground electric service. The reason for the short supply of lumber is due to forest fires, hurricanes, tornadoes and people building because they have been off due to Covid-19 and doing some remodeling. Water weights about 8 3/4 pounds per gallon. What do you think you have tied up money wise in the garage so far ? What is the total cost of the garage.

looks great. that is a LOT of rock. will you wait 28 day for concrete to fully cure?
10 days is usually enough for most things, And apparently it doesn't really 'fully cure' it keeps going for years.
Not bad at all

Hi from Western 🇦🇺
I was told concrete takes 21 days to get to it's hardest, and some 200 yrs before it starts breaking down if mixed properly
