I'm in the exact same situation... the chest is locked and I haven't seen the key since I got the chest as a kid. I'd like to get in without damaging the chest. What would you suggest??
Hey! I have a hope chest with this exact lock on it. My grandfather gave it to me years ago, and I have no idea where the key is. Somehow, over Christmas, it became locked, and it has been locked tight ever since. I've tried paperclips, random keys, anything, but still no luck. Any ideas how to unlock it without damaging it? I don't have a lot of extra money, so I've been trying for the past few months to open it on my own. Any suggestion you may have would be greatly appreciated!
So I have a hope chest that I've never had problem with, then one day when i was rearranging my room it became locked. My problem is that the key turns clockwise continuously but only turns around once counter-clockwise. I have tried every way I can think of and can't get it open. Any suggestions?

Looking for national lock co. 129 L-7 for a chest and can't find it anywhere
The lock has been removed from my Mother's Lane Cedar Chest, therefore, we are able to flip the top open. However, we are unable to pull open the adjacent door the the cabinet. It sound like it is locked, however, there are no key holds on the door and I remember just pulling to open the door. Help, please.

Our trunk latch is old and it wont latch or catch to latch. I can push on it and turn key but its locked and not catching to turn. I wonder if its stripped out. I just wanna get it open to store personal items. Help me ? What can I do? There is no way in this chest except through latch.
