The umpire in Alcaraz/McDonald game is the same umpire who made the SAME mistake in Bopanna/Shapovalov game like a week ago.
Exactly, it was her. It was Bopanna/Shapovalov btw.
But this one was more difficult than with Shapo. Only seeing the replay will show it for this.

She talks to the players like robots too

Opelka: "We're not in the entertainment business"
Kyrgios: Hold my beer...
Of course the are in the entertainment business. They need to entertain the people who watch the games otherwise there would be no spectators and for sure no sponsors. Hard truth
Technically sport is an entertainment business, but I agree that the music is very annoying to play with
Opelka is dumb af for thinking that he is not an entertainer 😂😂
Actually he is in the entertainment business it’s funny he thinks otherwie
@@sophier1552 There’s no “technically,” tennis is clearly in the entertainment business. Same as any other sport.
If it was a double bounce, the ball would never go up like that. Clearly a good reach by McKenzie, I can't believe a professionnal umpire can make a mistake this up-close.
It was a bad call, but umpires are human. Changing the rules for more replay, using a challenge, seems like a good idea
Makes no fucking sense why there is no video review in tennis. What an infuriating call that was.
@@matthoward6130 Shes a fucking woman, why you people trying to think lmao
It was a robbery, Alcaraz paid that umpire
I don't mind the missed call. But not having replays available for judgement calls like that is a load of crap and such cranky old man energy from the tennis governing body.
Imagine paying tickets to see Paire live and he doesn’t make any drama 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
ATP gives your money back in this case
IKR what would be the point in going😅😅🤣😂
it happened to me this year in San Benedetto, he only made drama in 1 match out of 5
Kyrgios is out of his mind. Every tournament there's a blow up. He makes Putintseva look like a monk.
kyrgios has mental problems
When a fan is telling an umpire to shut up he’s probably a bad umpire

@@Tehrandom88 It was probably one of Kyrgios friends
I've never seen someone look less happy doing their job than Nick Kyrgios.
Because Nick Kyrgios is a damn jackass. He's a professional entertainer. He makes money playing tennis and entertaining people with the game, not his antics. He needs to shut his damn mouth and play. Thing is, with all the talent people talk about that he has, he still doesn't win shit, so he has to resort to all kinds of antics because in today's world, he wants to be "relevant". That's what Nick Kyrgios is about... being RELEVANT. bloodclaat eedyattt
Go to France
i love nick. but sometime he's going to far, he deserved a default at thos moment.
Tomic?
Paire?
Damn, Mackenzie never complains and the ball had backspin (like a slice) so he def got to it.
That sucks because losing serve to Alcaraz is a tough hole to get out of.
That point was lost anyway, if Mackenzie had any play on the next shot I am sure Alcaraz would be happy to replay the point
@@cepibanikovec this is true but it’s about the PRINCIPLE haha.
Btw, it looked like Alcaraz lowkey missed the put away…
@@cepibanikovec That's not really the point. The call interrupted the play, so we don't know what could have happened. Alcaraz could have missed the easy shot or McDonald could have come up with a reflex volley.

Bernades hit the nail on the head. "You talk too much"
Ahhahahhahahhha GOAT umpire
fr, i dont understand nick kyrgios fans defending his every breath... like haha he smashed a water bottle...
Bernades is easily one of the worst umpires to me. Plus they all love coding players incessantly. After making a bad mistake. You code. Like no empathy
I can imagine when Kyrgios is on the list of Bernardes' games to referee. He thinks: "Oh...not again..."
Well, Fergus Murphy probably also thinks that, specially if he has to wear a hat :)
Hahhahhahhahhahhah Klowngios always fuckinh himself it's amazing
@@alancosta4760 Brazillian crying? Awh how cute, enjoy your slums.
now imagine Bernades's reaction when he sees kyrgios on that list.
It's too much for Opelka to continuously blame the umpire. Literally the umpire can do nothing about the music except notify his supervisor, which he did.
Quite liked his responses though - "no need for sarcasm Reilly."
Let's see how is going to play the US Open. You can hear loud music in almost every court.
Agreed, although it's also true that too many tournaments have really bad taste and play music at breaks or in neighbouring areas and put restaurants courtside. It's cheap and sad.
I’m actually surprised how easy Paire took the double bounce error by Lahyani lol
because even he reached the ball, Henri would have won the point with an easy volley anyway
because it was Lahyani
same feeling
Because it's Mohammed, the most respected umpire.
exactly same lol
Carlos Bernardes showing great restraint there. I would have defaulted Nick there. disgrace of a player
True..
It should have been a default..
Man this episode is fire! 🔥
Just like Novak Djokovic! 😉
MacDonald was right in that. It didn’t bounce twice. And he did get it. I’m not sure what the umpire is seeing.
The umpire Andrei did the same thing to Shapavolav in a doubles match. She’s blind
I would have stopped playing right away and she would have had to explain herself with the replay to the supervisor
Players tend to forget that there is no game, no tournament if they don’t play
They have the power but never use it because of the fines.. but there would be no fine if the referee is interrogated and seen wrong
@@ThaPuzzle8888 incorrect, there are still fine for the codes, even if you were right about a judgment call. And refusing to play can get you DQed
@@matthoward6130 Better to tell the ref to fk off and walk off! That will really get the fire started!
In some very tiny moments, i liked the idea of Kyrgios as this rebel force that coukd take the stiff system down, but at this point i am nothing but grossed out with his behaviour. Also i don´t know if he really loses it and just gets caught up in stupidty, or if is a mind game that he know too well and try his best to get on the opponents head to disrupt their games.
The only game he seems to disrupt is his own. I genuinely feel like its some sort of self-sabotage so he has an excuse when he loses.
He self sabotages every time he does this? Do you watch the videos?
He’s not fit enough to compete so he throws tantrums to slow the game down and give himself excuses for his poor play
When I started actively watching tennis in 2019/2020, Kyrgios didn't show up at all. Now that he's back, I'm beginning to hate him with passion.
The stadiums are packed when he is playing though
@@peterdanyi4207 I guess a lot of people like to see dickheads throwing tantrums. That's guaranteed when you have tickets for one of his matches lol
Kyrgios trying to rile up the crowd and when they do he complains lol.
Usually Kyrgios's antics make me laugh, but this time actually made me mad. Dude should've been defaulted 100%. No idea how/why Carlos didn't.
absolutely. what he did was worthy of about 6 code violations.
@@reactions4u438 Yeah but take notice that walkie talkie incident can never happen again.
@@alvarogarrido5334 I agree, a top atp tournament and that happens, it’s not good enough. However, doesn’t excuse the relentless bombardment from kyrgios to Carlos. He needs to stfu
Defaulted? Should of been kicked out the tournament and possible future ban and given a fine that would find him seriously out of pocket. Disgraceful antics.
for what? hes done way worse, carlos took away a point from him because he told someone in his box that they could do a better job than him, then poor carlos' feelings were hurt and he took away a point, then a game. u guys r snowflakes, the sport needs entertainment, not everything has to be like wimbledon lmfao
Nick basically complained for a set about nothing.
Right? It all started because he swore loudly the word "fucking" and got a code violation for audible obscenity, he basically spent the rest of the match fuming about that. And he had the nerve to call Bernandes a retard
Forget "Fedal," the new tennis rivalry has come: Carlos Bernardes vs Nick Kyrgios.
Also Fergus Murphy vs Nick Kyrgios

Yes, and apparently being annoyed is now a medical disease. I’m sure someone will be happy to sell you a pill for that, Mr. Snowflake.
That was not even close to a double. Sucks for McDonald
Neither was it for Paire. It clearly touched the racket.
It was really close and he would have lost the point instantly anyway. Alcaraz was ready to hit that ball at point blank.
I think it happened twice that match. Again for Alcarez to get match point.
He would've lost the point anyway, Carlos would've just put away the easy overhead without the call. But it was definitely a bad call.
Uh, that’s literally as close as you can get. What is wrong with you?
Well done to Sinner. He handled himself incredibly well in a very tough. Very young man showing his class and respect of the game, just getting the job done.
And that's why Kyrios has done fuck all with his natural God given talent. As Novak says, tennis is 20% physical and 80% mental, with 100% of players start default mode, being set to 'super fit' before they even step on the court.

Exactly..He's a clown
Half of the time I couldn’t hear music in the Opelka match but he was complaining hmm. Maybe on court you could hear it but it wasn’t loud at all. I’ve heard soooooo much worse and players never complained. Sometimes they hear the nearby court noises better than their own court. Let alone courts like in Rome where they play side by side two matches but they can do it there. Players are very selective when they complain about noises, it’s when it gets to their head because they’re not playing that well
Let's see how is going to play the US Open. You can hear loud music in almost every court.
"It's affecting my mental health." I like watching Opelka play and the music in the first clip was admittedly a bit loud, but the man is softer than a baby's bowel movement.

I know Carlos Bernardes is known for maybe sometimes mot making the best decision. And another thing is to have a selfish unpolite and rude bastard shouting at you 'You're reatrded, leave this job, change the staff or interfering in his decisions. No wonder noone watches him play. Tennis is a fun sport to play and to watch. But with these idiots around it becomes sometimes disgusting. Like an argument of a mother with his son. TIRING
I feel so helpless for McDonald. The umpire is completely wrong and fails to see her mistake. Can any of the more experienced people on here share what the consequences are for umpires? Will they be reviewed by someone? Like if an umpire makes too many or too obvious mistakes, will there be any bad consequences for them?
Player input is directly involved with umpires being promoted to bigger matches thru their chip system
If umpires get enough legitimate complaints they won’t be promoted beyond their station and can be demoted or black listed entirely
@@balmorrablue3130 thank you, that's good to know. Another thing I hate is the phrase "for you it was X, for me it was Y", "I saw it as X" - it's like they blindly recite from a handbook like a robot. And then to threaten him that she will start the clock and he will get a warning if he doesn't play - WTF??? "We have to continue play" - No, Miss Führer, we don't have to do anything and I can discuss this with you all I want! Jesus...
She's done "2 bounces" so many times I've lost count lmao. "Fail to see her mistake" is true women moment
@@henrik1743 I agree, she specifically has made the same mistake WAY too many times, it’s absolutely maddening to watch and should have some effect on her career or promotion if it doesn’t already. Or maybe a re-visitation to the policies of the replay system rules on that double-bounce call? It’s unlikely but just throwing it out there.
However, if you’re saying her failing to see her mistakes is due to her being a woman that doesn’t have anything to do with it, dude. Plenty of guys have big egos and refuse to admit when they’re wrong as well. If that’s not what you meant then please ignore this and I apologise, haha

Bernardes missing a let, and then coding rublev was one of the most incompetent things I’ve ever seen. It’s Angel Hernandez level of bad umpiring.
Opelka: "We're not in the entertainment business". Uhhh "Sports and Entertainment?" ? It's literally a tennis match with a live audience. It's entertainment by definition.
yeah that was wrong but still anyone who plays competitive tennis knows how distracting that is
Opelka getting furious and grumpy has to be on of the most entertaining acts on the tour. 😅
I can’t understand why some people like Kyrgios, the guy is clearly disturbed and has no notion of fair play. He wanted to play while the ball girl was still walking, come on! And if he wants to talk about mistakes: how many times these guys were wrong when asking for a hawk eye? He was just playing badly against a very good player and got frustrated, period.
These videos are an excellent guide on which players not to root for. What awful sportsmanship.
ATP should set a new rule: the childish player who breaks his racket and throws it onto the court like an angry 3 years old should be the one picking it up
Poor McKenzie, I knew right away when I was over there to watch the Alcaraz match that I know this controversy from McDonald was gonna be posted here, knew it and that chair umpire should have been fired
Not the biggest fan of Opelka, he moaned and moaned and moaned, showed zero respect for Mannarino.

I am sick of you people who always behave like no words have to be utter higher than others, we are human beings with feelings.
Stop refraining this side of you, that’s why we are who we are and do what we are able to do, we are not just instinct like animals.
We are talking about arrogance, egocentrism and incompetency from the referee and these guys are athlete not leisure tennis players.
They afford their way of living with tennis. Imagine a new manager in your job who fires you when ha actually saw the wrong thing?
And talking about embarrassment is nonsensical, they pay to see him.
And more, he would have acted the same way if there was no public and just one guy yelling during the point
Don’t transfer embarrassment on people when you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about and most of all because you surely must be someone who is embarrassed easily so you think everybody think and feel the same way as you in this kind of situation.
And you talk about his girlfriend’s embarrassment, man... I am so sad about this sentence. You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.
Do you know what love is? Through thick and thin, against all odds? Does it ring a bell?
If I am fighting for my honor, for my work and I see my girlfriend being embarrassed then she is not the one because I will always stand by her if she feels the need to defend herself.

I think the ATP needs to do something about Kyrgios, like ban him for a year, or something equally or more serious. He's an entitled brat who is way more incompetent at his job (playing tennis) than any of the umpires on the tour.
That Kyrgios match actually made me mad ngl.
Funny how they cut the end of the nick kyrgios controversy short.

Imagine Umpiring a Puntintseva/Kyrgios match 🤣🤣
If slow motion replay was required to visually clarify a potential double bounce, then the chair umpire erred by stopping play. Chair umpires must always default to "allow play to continue" unless they can clearly and confidently determine that it was a double-bounce.

With todays technology, there is no excuse for not having a replay.

Shame on Vesely for not offering to replay the point after the let serve. He too stopped for a moment, so he knew full well that it should have been called a let. If he had lost the point, he would have complained just as vigorously as Rublev.
