    Appreciate the review, my wife and I will be shopping soon for a replacement vehicle for our aging SUV. Our oldest son is non-mobile, amongst other issues, and requires a wheelchair (Ki Mobility Focus CR). It's great to hear from someone who is not a salesman or spokesperson and I do love the HUD display feature.
    Love your channel and its content.

    I love the magnetic ride control ! 1st developed for the Vette. Huge handling difference in sport mode on my 2018 Denali 1500 pickup. Replacement cost for shocks is the downside...

    Great review, enjoyed watching until the end. I purchased a 2021 and was curious to see what changes were made for 2023. I got to tell you, I think I got lucky with my 2021 and the options it came with. These shortages are rough and hitting everyone's pocketbooks. They have less standard and available options and cost significantly more. Your opinion on the breaks was good and on point. That was my exact reaction when I first got in. Although, my comparison was a 2011 and 2003 Yukon. The brakes on the AT4 and SLT are still good, huge upgrade from previous years. I tow quote often with ours, and this pulls and stops exceptionally well compared to my previous models. I flew 1500 miles to pick up my 2021 and drove it home. Never had any issues with the comfort. I have always found great comfort in GM SUVs and trucks.

      My GMC Yukon AT4 is great, the only thing I hate it the infotainment package. With car seats it's a pain and I can't get anything to work with a thumb drive. I don't want to install a DVD player on the floor.

    Seats would be an issue for me since I do several long trips/year (4 - 11 hours). I would also think that you milage should improve as you accumulate more miles. I like adaptive cruise control although I have friends who hate it and turn it off. The start stop also bothered the heck out of me as well. Otherwise great looking vehicle, Thanks for the great review.

      They become more comfortable as time goes on. The first few rides with my 2022 Sierra 3500 AT4 I thought I was sitting on a brick and made a huge mistake buying it without test driving it (had to get what I could find available and bought it over the phone), but after almost 9 months and 9,000 miles the seats are very comfortable.

    I totally agree about the brakes. I purchased the Brembo big brake kit. Brake feel, confidence and distance improved however it affected my ride quality somewhat. The rotors for the kit is very heavy and you can feel that weight when driving.

    Had a 2003 yukon xl Denali then got a used 2016 Denali XL. 6.0L vs 6.2L vvt. Night and day. Nice adaptive cruise and my wife's Highlander does. Ouch GM!

  • @jordanvraptor
    @jordanvraptor ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a 2018 Tahoe Premiere with the adaptive cruise control. The reason your AT4 doesn’t have it is because they put the radar and electronics for it in the frame rail where your left front tow hook attaches to the truck. Yes, they could reposition it, but thats where it is on mine so I had to put a single tow hook on the right side for emergencies.

    Really great filming and shots! Awesome review tbh. Seats becoming uncomfy after 2 hours is a big L for a long cruise vehicle. The Adaptive cruise missing is also a huge issue. GM Should do something. Appreciate the video! it's cool to see a Fighter Pilot do a review actually.

      @jliefer2484 blown valve springs, "Chevy shake" transition issues, passenger tail light that works once in a while (GM had a recall for it but by the time it started with the problem, the milage they set for the issue, my car was already over), just to make a few. Don't get me wrong, I love our Yukon

    This is a really detailed review of your personal impressions of this vehicle, and absolutely worth the watch. Thumbs up! A question: You said after about 2 hours the seats became very uncomfortable. This has concerned me because the leather padding does look firm and thin, on the AT4 and frankly the Denali too. Do you have any experience or opinion on whether the seats are the same and would have the same uncomfortable feel after 2 hours or so on the Denali? How the driving comfort of the AT4 and Denali might compare on long drives? (Not necessarily the new highest end 2023 Denali Ultimate for that apparently has higher quality leather, though not sure if it has any more padding, but at least the Denali's other than the new Ultimate. I don't really like the brown leather interior of the Ultimate anyway, I prefer the all black leather of the Denali or the black with tan accents of the AT4 after that. There are multiple reasons I want an suv, but among them are my need for comfort on many long highway drives, not just an hour or two to get to a ski area, but 5 or 6 hour drives for a weekend, or long multi-8 hour day regional drives. Apparently the Escalade would be more comfortable on long drives, but it doesn't appear to have some of the driving capability and versatility of the AT4 and Denali)

    • @nickr8829
      @nickr8829 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The seats get better with time, or at least the ones on my 2022 Sierra 3500 AT4 have. I'm at almost 9 months and 9,000 miles and they're a lot better than the brick they started out as.

    I bought a BMW R1250RT motorcycle late last year that was supposed to come with active cruise control but mine was built without it, due to "parts availability". BMW credited me about $1000 for its being missing. I never found out which part was the problem, but they started shipping ACC once again in early 2022. I've read this kind of system has been in short supply for many manufacturers which might explain why GMC isn't offering it yet.

    Great video. I just got a 2022 Z71 Tahoe, 6.2L. The brakes are not great, you have to press the brake pedal a ways before they engage. Also, I had a 2020 Yukon 5.3L and I love the 6.2L. I would have to downshift going up a steep hill in my Yukon. Not so with the 6.2L Tahoe.

    I don't understand why adaptive / super cruise isn't available. It should be a purchasable option. Could be technical reasons idk. But the paint blemish shouldn't happen. There are armies of people who's sole job is ensuring top notch quality, along with a ton of systems and procedures that are under constant scrutiny. Tons of investment. Painting is done robotically so that should be a correctable issue in manufacturing. I recommend complaining about it to your dealer. P.S. Great production on this video. You're getting really good at this.

    Excellent very fair review. I get customers that work at the Arlington Plant visiting me, and they tell me this chip shortage issue continues to haunt the production line options. I wonder if the reason they haven't yet standardized the adaptive cruise in the Mid-levels like yours is because of that.

My wife has a 2018 Terrain & I hate driving it because of all the different things it has. And agree 110% on the auto stop, I HATE it! Unfortunately on the 2018, you can’t turn it off. 16mpg is pretty decent considering the size & weight of the Yukon. My 2014 Sierra with the 5.3 & 6 speed auto gets about the same.

    Honestly that’s way too much $$$ for a part shortage build with barely adjustable seats which are uncomfortable at that and no adaptive cruise control as well as medieval mpg and an infotainment screen size from the year 2010… not worth $76k and won’t hold the value one bit. Maybe ok as a lease…

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The seats are a later retrofit. I agree on adaptive cruise. MPG is in line with everything else in the category. Infotainment screen - well, you're just wrong on that. Anything bigger would be a distraction, and it's certainly in line with everything else in its class. As for holding value, we'll see. Right now, they're worth more than I paid.

      It absolutely is making people lazy and creating a new generation of people who are no longer drivers, but merely appliance users. Especially the “safety” features like traction and stability control, ABS, etc., make people think they can drive much faster or more aggressively than conditions allow, thinking their gizmos will save them. Hence why every winter in the mountains I get passed by speed demons in the snow, only to come across at least a couple who are on their side in a ditch up ahead, because they were stupid. I’ve never once smashed up a car in the snow and I’ve been driving mostly pre-ABS cars my whole life.

    • @AlphaGatorDCS

      I've owned 6 Yukons, the last four were Denali's. They destroyed the performance when they switched to the 10-speed transition in 2018....absolutely zero low-end torque. I sold my 2018 Denali last year. The good thing about GMC's is they hold their value better than Chevy Tahoes.

    • @CWLemoine

      I like it better than the 8 speed 6.2L Denali I had. That transmission sucked.

    • @AlphaGatorDCS
      @AlphaGatorDCS ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CWLemoine Really? I had a 2016 Denali with the 6.2L 8-speed and it had WAY more low-end torque. I felt my 2018 10-speed lost a lot of acceleration. That being said, in the 50-80 MPH range, the 10 speed is nice.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe it's better with the new body style. I never drove the 10 speed in the previous generation. The 8 speed was a terrible transmission and the reason I got rid of my 2017.

    So when it comes to vehicles; I am far from normal. I am a auto tech by trade. I see usually when things go wrong and I have to fix it. Sorry C.W. but I am pretty sure your Sheriff SUV don't have Brembo brakes on it. It's too expensive. Law enforcement usually gets a higher level then factory stock but not anything extravagant like Brembo brake systems. They are usually just a upgraded rotor and a two pot caliper. What really does the stopping is the pads. As for your new ride; Looks good and has features that I myself would probably turn off and keep off. I do have two little kids so I do like the ability to keep them either warm in the winter or cool in the summer but I could do without the camera's. I have 3 mirrors and two eye balls. I can't stand start/stop myself. When I worked for the dealer I unfortunately had to make sure it worked when new Chrysler/Dodge/Jeeps came off the truck..it's purpose is supposed to save gas when at long stop lights. All it seems to do is annoy me. That MPG though...better then in past years but not by much. But my daily gets over 25 mpg and about 19 if I put my foot down. As for the cruise control; It's most likely a module and a software update to make it work. You already have all the sensors in place.

    For the past 4 decades GM has continually lost market share to overseas competitors year over year. I was hopeful at some point GM would learn that build quality is important to stop them from losing customers, but seems like all these years later GM still is out of touch with what is important to consumers and continues to trail behind other companies on build quality.
