    I have the Freckled Whimsy skeins in my closet waiting for 12/1! Trying to get a pair of socks off my needles so I can knit up the cuffs with the contrast color and be ready to start my stripes in a few days.

    Loved this mini-sode! Great pattern round-up. I reined in my advent yarn purchases this year, so I will only be working on KirbyWirby’s 24 stripe Friends Advent and living vicariously through all of you vlogcasters. I still haven’t done anything with my 2021 Wool & Vinyl countdown, but I’m considering Anna Daku’s Garti Cardi pattern.

      I’m so glad you liked it! That Garti Cardi is amazing…maybe I need to do that instead 🤣. I always have so many ‘squirrel’ moments while trying to decide on a pattern.

    This was so fun, I love hearing people's project plans. I also got a 24 mini set from the destash page, and was also thinking of doing the anthology throw! AND I did the creabea swap but, to be honest I already opened the whole thing! I had wanted to do something with it all together, so I opened it to project plan, but then it was yarn of all different weights, fibers, totally different colors and amounts...I am keeping several minis for striped socks and probably going to re-home the rest some way.

      @thebotanicalknitter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I’m sorry to hear the swap wasn’t quite what you expected. I think the different fibers and weights could make for a really cool blanket, though! And, it’s taking all my willpower to not open mine up early 🤣.

    I think the anthology throw will be perfect for the scrappy swap! I did the 24x10 g swap too and I think I’m going to do a sunburst throw with it! First big crochet project!

    Ahh so fun to see a close to me knitter!!! (I’m about 2 hours south of you in WI) No fiber friends or yarn shops close and I’m just so sad! I need fiber friends!!! Awesome video and fun to see what you’re doing with your advents! I’m torn on mine too! Few more days to decide 😂

    Hi from the UK, I really can’t wait for advent. I’ve got a bit carried away this year and ended up with a full 24 days that which I’m going to do the coastline shawl with a swap which I do every year which will be scrappy socks and a 12 day beautiful bright one which I decided to start opening early as a little bit of a countdown and I’m making the striped party cowl with that. I’ll have a loads left over so I think the Venetian shawl might be beautiful as well. Definitely won’t get it all finished in December but I just have a lot of the ideas.

      Thanks for watching, Jenny! Sounds like you have fun knitting projects ahead! I’m also not expecting to finish my advent projects in December. Hope you have a warm and happy holiday season! 💚

    Really nice "mini" eposode Emily! I have only had one stripey-sock advent and one I made for myself from Row-One yarns. It was great to get some other ideas for what I will make with my swap advent. The Litmus Cowl was my first thought; but I also like the anthology throw; will see what the yarn and colors inspire me to make. Take care and Happy Making ~ Lori~

    I'm also knitting the freckled whimsy advent socks. I do two at a time toe up, heel flap and gusset, I did get the mini with it - which I use for toe, heels and cuffs. I also traded via the Crea Bea (sp) and I also trade every year with friends from Seattle. Love your advent knitting ideas. Also a Mpls knitter, I love the alley reference, it's so midwest :)

      Hello, Minneapolis friend! Are you enjoying the Freckled Whimsy so far?

    • @celestedouville2529

      @@thebotanicalknitter Absolutely. the base is so, so soft - I am just outside of the realm of looking at the cakes of yarn and seeing what it'll stripe like, so it's a complete surprise to me each stripe. 5 rows is a great size stripe for me, so I am thrilled with it all! And in my (limited) experience I'll get at least two pairs out of the skein, so I'm excited. I usually send the second pair to my mom. The only other time I've bought an advent skein I got three pairs out of it! (I kept two of them). Ever since I discovered contrast toes, heels and cuffs it's been my standard. And I discovered the perfect length to wear with my Blundstones, so I can easily get three pairs, even when I knit 24 stripes for the first pair (which my mom will get, because she likes long socks, and has a much smaller foot). Blessings.

    I JUST saw someone knit an anthology throw with 10 gram minis, and they added 10 grams of white/neutral between each mini. It was beautiful! Just an idea if you want to go bigger. It was Knitting Kniche on TH-cam, I think?!

    So fun to watch your "what to do with my advent" video!! A fun vanilla knitting for your 24 - 10 gram advent or 12 - 20 gram advent is the Advent Cowl Wolop 2019 by Lieneke Bosman. Very squishy and warm! Enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday!

    I'm about to embark on my first Advent calendar project. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm scared... not of the knitting, but it is a 'mystery' knitting project and I'm afraid I'll hate the design. I'll knit to my birthday on the 18th and if I hate the project I'm going to frog it and knit a project from one of the many projects I liked on Ravelry. Your thoughts?

    • @thebotanicalknitter
      @thebotanicalknitter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Mystery knitting projects are always tricky! My first advent year, I opened it up every day but waited to pick a project until I knew what all the skeins looked like. I think being open to frogging the project is a good way to approach it! I’d go with whatever keeps it fun and avoids stress. Hope that helps. 💚
