4 blades climb better than 6 blades ! I’m flying both in Brazil and I can say that because both atr’s with the same weight, PW 124 climbs much better than PW 127! 6 blades improve a better take off and landing performance. 4 blades are old school ! 👍🏻
The 4-bladed props definitely have a lower tone that remind me a little of monks chanting, whereas the 6-bladed props have a higher tone that remind me of a box fan for some reason.
I love 6 blades due to the iconic sound they make. I hear everytime im at the airport when Norra's ATR 72-500s taxi around. I dont say i hate the -200, its cool too but -500/600 6 blades sound more satisfying to me.
4 blades put out a chuggier, more grunt sound that i always love. But I'd be a liar if i said those 6 bladers don't sound like they want to go fast! My only issue is how hilariously high pitch they sound at flight idle @ cruise. From the ground, they sound like an RC plane. Indignifying if you ask me. 4 blades win in my book.
You're not wrong haha, tell you what if you've ever heard a Piaggio cruise over you'd think wtf was that??? The 'backward' facing props make a completely different and unique sound! Thanks for watching mate!
@@SOUTHENDAVIATION if you're referring to the P-180, i have indeed seen one fly over at about 12,000 feet. (Benefits of living on Cape Cod. Every buisness plane in the world has flown to or through that airspace at least once.) They sound so humorously high pitched. And the faster they-re going, the funnier xD The Beechcraft Starship (4 of them still fly today thank God) passes through this airspace once in a great while. But not nearly as often as P180s.
@@SOUTHENDAVIATION I didn't either untill i saw the following video a few months ago. Biggest smile I've so far had in 2020. Then by sheer luck, one flew to Nantucket Island about 2 weeks later. Since I'm not an ATR fan, it does not matter. Use which one better utilizes the engine power. The original P47's had a three blade prop but was soon changed to four when it became obvious the four blades made better use of the hp.

I prefer the sound of the old 4-Bladed ones
I am in love with 6-bladed propellers. I really love the ATR. It sounds incredible on short final.

4 Blades all the way!

4 blades all day everyday
4 blades sound better to me because the takeoff sounds like a loud prop roar, and more classy than 6 blades!

I had no idea the Starship still flew! I thought they were all grounded, so that's good to hear! Very sleek looking plane if you ask me 👌

The smaller 4 blades have a higher sound to sound like a piston 3 blade
6 blades
Can someone tell me why the sound changes in 3:58
Its the change in the blade pitch
it sounds due to change in the prop pitch when you bring back the throttle to ground idle detent
4 blades is atr 72 200 6 blades atr 72 600

Both have great sound but I prefer a dash 8-300 over anything!
