Silver Air, and your left seater should be commended and thanked for allowing this to be recorded and published. It demonstrates how well trained, professional, and proficient their crew is. Bravo! And fun to watch!
Extreme degree of professionalism all over, special mention for the incredibly fluid, clear yet very polite communication both on FD and with ATC, Bravo !
This is amazing. My 4 year old gets excited when the “pink plane” flys over our house going into KMCO. He calls it “My mommy’s plane” which she has flown from KMCO to KEWY and loved it.
This is very eye-opening! Your commentary alongside the full CRM flow absolutely crushes anything else I've come across. Definitely looking forward to more.
This video made me really happy. It reminded me of your video when you've just been furloughed. Things seemed dark at that time. I know you're back flying for the airline for some time now, bit still. I'm really happy to see you back in those planes! Have a wonderful time flying!
Yea that was a difficult time. I was a little lost and had to deal with feelings I’d never had to experience in my professional career. But being on the other side it’s an amazing feeling. Thank you so much for your support!
I absolutely love these videos! Ask the crew if you can do any show and tell tour around the HQ down in Ft Laud! I was gonna be there yesterday at DnJ with you guys but my wife went into what she thought was early labor and we had to rush to Celebration hospital. Nothing came of it but we were in the hospital 8 hours or something. Thanks for making this video and maybe you can have a subscriber ride along one day where we all get to purchase tickets and get to do an over night somewhere as a fun get together. Keep these coming!
You dont need me to tell you but what an example of excellent airmanship and great CRM, you both seemed to have a professional and positive dynamic. Great service to the industry!
Great video brother! Thanks to you and Silver for giving us a peek at what it's like to fly the ATR! You're an inspiration to me bro, your fun filled videos help me stay balanced and remember to have fun while flying as well as learning! Safe flying bro!
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Flying to KLAL from CYRO (Ottawa Canada) for Sun N Fun. Two pilots in a PA28-180. Will be operating with full CRM because videos like this make it obvious as to the risk reduction that it brings. Love to see your professionalism (very different Lewdix from when you're instructing - adaptable persona, kudos).
What a great video!!!! Even at 51 I would love to get my commercial to fly for a small airline someday!! Thx to the Captain and Silver Air for allowing these to be made!!!!! I fly out of TPA all the time
Ah man that was so nice to watch! I’m currently at the start of my ATPL theory and I’m struggling like hell, but watching this reminds me what it’s all for!
Thanks for all of this mate, it's such good content. I love how you get this super nice vids about your current career while still bringing us the good old CFI/CFII content with the always appreciated banter :).
Fantastic video @LewDixAviation. I haven’t yet got my MCC (in fact, I’m only about 3/4 of the way through my PPL) but yourself and the Captain’s teamwork and resource management was a thing to behold. In complete control, managing time, resource, communication and external conditions superbly the whole time. Props to Silver Airways for allowing this recording to happen and be published online as well.
There are very few videos that capture the cockpit view and a decent view out of the windows at the same time. This is one of them. You really can see that crosswind landing and how you guys deal with it. Many thanks!
Just passed my commercial 2 weeks ago and now completing my MEIR. This video made me so giddy and excited for my future as a pilot, what a ridiculously cool job.
Thank you for sharing this flight. It's great to observe a crew environment. I wish other carriers would do this. I think it's helpful for pilots who are new to the crew environment (like me).
Great video @LewDix Aviation. Watching these videos reminds me of how on the ball we have to be as airline pilots, and more importantly how lucky we are to do what we do! Wouldn’t change it for anything in the world! ✈️
What an excellent video Lewis! Fantastic Display of CRM between you and your left seat. Has been a pleasure following your journey since your flight instructing days. Excellent briefings! You're going to make a great captain. Now something I was curious about, I noticed during your takeoff roll you looked at Np and Torque and then confirmed T/O is set and the PNF confirmed with 'Check'. Is this typical with the ATR or Silver? We typically have the PNF confirm when both engines mx thrust (N1 in our case) has been set and the PF Confirms this with 'check'
Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to showing you more cool videos as I progress and of course do more instructing. During the takeoff roll the captain has controls until 70 knots (if he is the non flying pilot that leg) and so the FO has those call-outs to make to check takeoff power has been set. Once we hit 70 knots and transfer controls we assume the PF & PM roles.
Haven't watched your videos since Covid and your transition into bigboy aviation. Still as watchable. I'm sure these videos will become very popular with MSFS releasing the ATR in April.
Great video! Great landing in the ATR. Now about that Cherokee landing…. /a From a fellow CFI, I really enjoy your content. When you’re next in DFW, the pints are on my tab.
Great vid, keep these coming! Your CFI vids motivated me to get my PPL last year, trying to get motivated to finish my IFR rating and who knows maybe fly commercially one day.. Thanks Silver Airways for letting him Vid!
Armchair pilot with question here. Empty plane, why taking off with full (Ramp) power, and not Gate (Reduced)? Great and informative video, right on time for my MSFS ATR simflights LoL..
@@LewDixAviation Let me put it this way. On the 600, you have auto speed. On the 500, YOU are the auto speed. Flying the 500 has actually made me understand what the 600 was doing, such as the change of speeds every time you change a flap setting. The toughest transition you’d face is going from the glass cockpit to an EFIS cockpit. I also flew the Dash 8-300 before going on to the ATR, so it was pretty much a refresher moving on to the 500. But all that said, it’s just like the 42-600, just a small downgrade.
Going through Sim training right now at Silver here in Miami, this pumps me up so much to fly, thanks for the insight! Had a blast following along with the procedures!
👏🏾👏🏾Bro, you’re awesome. Thank you for the video and thanks to Silver as well for making it possible. Once again you continue to be a phenomenal brand ambassador for Silver. I see an ATR in my flying future 🤞🏾
The idle gate stops you bringing the power levers below flight idle in flight. On landing when one of the landing gear absorbers is depressed, the gate opens so you can move the PL’s to ground idle. When you land very smoothly though, it sometimes doesn’t open automatically, so you have to “pull the gate” manually. It’s the ATR’s way of telling you that the landing was smooth haha
Men! This is beautiful! It has been me almost 10 years since I started this journey to becoming an airline pilot. There have been a lot of downs, but I've been claiming to the little ups through my journey. Glory be to God for where I am now! Thanks so much, men, for uploading this particular video! I see the light at the end of the tunnel ✨️ !
I nearly had the opportunity to fly silver in a couple of weeks. I'm going from the FLL area to Tampa, but silver was only offering one flight that day and it was an an inconvenient time, as much as I wanted the chance to fly with Lewis. Plus, it wouldn't take my LEWDIX code for 10% off to give me better prices
Congratulations, I have followed your journey over the years and this looks like a great little airline. Good range of destinations, never too far from home, and even international.
What a small world! Always see silver airways flying in an out of KPNS, possibly could have been one of your flights. I work at the ST Engineering hangers off of taxi way E1. Currently an A&P mechanic hoping to get into the flying side of aviation soon.
Many thanks to you, your crew member, and the airline for this view inside the cockpit. Extremely professional work. Looking forward to more of the same.

What does “pull the gate”do? I see that you did that right after touchdown before you put it into reverse.
