I have learned so much while working in the ER! But this video highlights 5 topics that I want to pass along to other new grad nurses out there! This video is about 5 things I've learned while working in the ER!! I made this video to educate and inform future nurses and current nurses about certain topics in the ER that I feel are ESSENTIAL!! I want to share these lessons because I've been through it and hopefully you will not have to do the same thing I did when I was unaware! In this video, I give small examples of how I learned these 5 topics, however, this video is HIPAA compliant and does not disclose patient information. I really hope you like this video!

With your reglan the anxiety can become extreme in your patients with existing psych issues. You can dilute in a 50 cc bag if your facility allows.

Thank you for the wonderful video!!! I start in the ER in a month as a new grad. Super nervous since I never worked as a tech or have any type of prior hospital experience besides clinical. I am so super excited but I really do not know what to expect since I've only been exposed to med-surg in school. But, great video super helpful!!

I am so glad this video was helpful!! 😁😁 but i was the exact same way! i never had any experience or worked as a tech in the ER so i was soooo nervous! but i can tell you that you will learn SO MUCH and it will be so different from nursing school! lol and there’s so much teamwork so don’t be afraid! you will also get sooooo much practice with things that we didn’t get to practice very often because of COVID. so take advantage of those opportunities, practice makes perfect! 😄 you will get better and better everyday!! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! its so helpful for someone to guide newbies like me and to be REAL about what actually goes down and how to handle situations!!! thank you so much seriously! what advice do you have to help with prioritizing and critical thinking? I do not have any nursing experience, so I lack confidence when it comes to this. Thank you again for being authentic and transparent about being a nurse, especially a new nurse.
OMG THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! 🥹 I am so happy you liked the video!! 🤍 Girl let me tell you, I lacked confidence when I first started it wasn’t even funny! lol I didn’t think that I could do it and I felt like I didn’t belong. But honestly, it’s gotten so much better! I have much more confidence now and it’s only been a year! You will do amazing, I just know it! Before I started in the ER, I had no prior experience either so just going to work everyday is when I started putting all the puzzle pieces together! Everything just started making sense! You will learn so much just by being in the ER environment! It’s amazing! To help with critical thinking, start by asking “WHY” all the time. So for example, if a patient is getting blood work and CT scans for abdominal pain. I would think in my head “why are they ordering this type of scan and what will this blood work tell them about what’s going on in the stomach?” This is what helped me the most! Also, just studying the patient and their labs, results, etc. When i have really sick patients, I try to look at lab results and understand how it relates to their symptoms, etc etc. Also I always ask my fellow experienced nurses questions all the time! heyyy!! You are so welcome!!! 🥹🥹🥹💕💕💕☺️☺️☺️ and noooo definitely not! but working in the ER has showed me how to multitask!! We have 4 patients and I have gotten so much better with keeping up with all of them at the same time! It will come with time! How are you with multitasking?
