Arrowhead hunting TN - My nicest adena found, civil war era bullet, and even a key to a safe!

  • This video consists of my finds from the end of March through early April. It starts off with an impressively well made knife that's long, thin, and somewhat uniface. what's your thoughts? There are a couple nice blades in this video, one of which was standing straight up against some washed out tree roots. It blended in so well it looked just like another root. I found 2 keys laying next to each other. The key ring must have rusted away some time ago and left the keys laying together. One of which was a safe key made by H.H.M. Safe Co., founded in 1896. Not sure how someone would lose that, but I bet they weren't happy! The minie ball found was of an unusually large caliber. Not sure what size it is, but as you'll see its huge! There is a double find in this video. 2 artifacts laying next each other, 1 being a hoe, and the other being either a hoe or adze. The adena at the end was a totally random find. I was walking an area that's never produced as much as a flake for me before. I was just passing through and happened to see this beauty laying there before me! Its one of my nicest, if not my nicest adena ever found. Ive been back a few more times since then with no more luck. I guess it really was just a random find! Thanks for watching! Please 👍🏼, subscribe, and comment!

    What defines the ages of mankind, some say it’s what’s left behind to learn from, others say did we not learn anything, and maybe our spirit struggles wars we fight and the peace we seek.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If what defines our current age is by what we leave behind, I can only hope that they are understanding.
      As far as finding peace… I find that quite often as I’m trudging through fresh mud, with the warm light of a sunrise surrounding me, as the sound of birds starting their day with all their chatter fill the air. Simple peace!

    Very nice surface finds, old man river surely likes where your head is at, thus produces very well for your interest. the 2 larger tools in particular are very interesting and talk much story to me. You are one of the very few collectors on TH-cam that does not appear to dig or disturb and bulldoze the earth for your finds. Much respect to you. No hooting no shouting and carrying on talking when you find something, Just natural silence and sounds of the river with the exposure.. Again, much appreciation for your way of discovery & sharing while respecting our past.

      Thank you very much man. I appreciate the kind words. But when it comes to finding artifacts, I do like to wait for them to reveal themselves to me. It is a little disheartening when I come upon a place and see that it has basically been plundered by those less patient, and with less respect for anything it looks like. But thank you again for your appreciation of the simplicity of just artifacts, and the sounds of nature!

    I don't know if you are a religious/spiritual man, nor is it any of my business. But, it seems to me, you are truly blessed. I have a tiny idea of what it takes to hunt for hours, then edit and post a video. It is, indeed, work. For that, I say thank you for all the hard work you put in to each and every video. It hasn't gone unnoticed.

    • @artifacthunter1472

      You are blessed when you’re reproached for the name of Jesus preaching truth, not for finding Artifacts! God blesses you with long life and fertility! God works all things after the council of his own will from ancient times to everything not yet done! I get zero credit for anything that I find all credit goes to God! I preach the truth daily and people crap in my face that’s when I know I’m truly blessed! God does not bless you with physical items he adds them to you after you search for him first seek the kingdom of God first and everything will be added to you! I appreciate the Artifacts I find and know that God ordained me to find them but I do not worship them I worship God alone! The more I study the Bible the less anything physical has any meaning to me!

    • @westho7314
      @westho7314 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In spirit, what is found of the surface, along the shores or brought to the surface in the fields by the plow is one thing, digging, sifting in sacred ground, is a completely different scenerio. Especially when excavating & exposing the roots of sacred old trees thus weakening their foundations and possibly killing the tree as a result for a mere artifact. All ground should be considered sacred. When watching diggers excitement when they find something as they shovel ever deeper, their greed grows ever stronger, much like the destructive nature of gold fever. I think the only exception are those digging the modern trash dumps for relics cast off by their own elders and ancestors. Leave the spirits below ground where they are with respect.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you once again buddy, I always appreciate your comments. Being out there for hours is the easy part! Being out taking in and being surrounded by the natural beauty alone is worth the trip every time. Having the chance to lay my eyes on a relic of the distant past is just a bonus! Being where others once stood, thinking of the last person to handle each piece, and wondering the story each piece could tell. It’s surreal when you think about it hard enough. Now only if I could find a way to make creating and editing videos as enjoyable! Haha But really, making these videos to share with everyone has its own way of being rewarding. I’m glad to be able to do it. I’m glad that the artifacts I find are found by someone that respects them, and not someone out hunting for all the wrong reasons. This hobby is unfortunately full of those type. As always, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!

    Absolutely stunning artifacts!! Tomorrow I’m going to do some JetSki maintenance and do some collecting this weekend! Your video makes it look easy but I’m a fellow hard-core collector and know the time you have to put in to produce this type of collection! I had a dream once that I stuck my hands in the mud and pulled out an incredible Artifact near a bush, I thought I recognized the spot in my dream and when I went there I knew exactly where it was, I stuck both my hands in the sandy mud and felt something sharp and when I put my hands back in there I pulled out the most incredible 6” spear point! I spent the rest of the day sticking my hands in the mud everywhere I can find in the area to no avail I found nothing! It’s hard to believe this is random unless you believe in God and know it’s not! This has happened five times in the last 20 years A completely different way every time it’s quite the incredible experience! The Clovis made out of agate that’s pictured in my profile is one of these artifacts! I was not going to go where I went to find this and God whispered to me to look under the shore bank underneath the tree roots in the most impossible unlikely spot and there it was, my first double fluted Clovis made from translucent agate! It’s hard to believe that some of my best points found me I didn’t find them! One of my most incredible fossils was found in the same manner I went to a spot I had no idea existed and did not know why I was there, I found a oval concretion just like the ones I used to collect in coal city Illinois as a child mostly filled with jellyfish and inside was fossilized fabric it’s the only one in the world that is known to exist! Two weaves up and two weaves down in solid stone! Extensive pictures were taken and sent to the Smithsonian they said yes this is fabric but why it’s in a fossil we cannot tell you, ha ha they don’t believe in God!

      Thanks buddy! I find that dover all over the place. It’s crazy how much, and how far they traded that stuff. It must have been some prized material. There is a site near dover where they clearly manufactured chunks for trade or something. There are flakes of dover literally everywhere. Inches deep in places, for well over 100’. Never find anything there. It’s literally just 1000’s and 1000’s of flakes. It’s an incredible sight to see.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha man, that knife at the beginning is like a legit butter knife! Speaking of which, I watched that vid you posted the day you shared it with me. Sorry I never got back to you on that! But first off… that display table is awesome! Sand would be the ultimate as far as holding artifacts in place, and they always lay flat! I also noticed you constantly rubbing your fingers together to get the sand off.. I guess sand is a way of life down there! Did you go to the beach and borrow some kids plastic shovel to fill the pockets of your jeans up to take home and make that table?! Haha But seriously, that mailbox piece as I call it… what a beast! Etley I believe it was. It’s just crazy how that thing was found! Those pieces you put handles on look awesome though. I started cracking up when you were talking about how people start stabbing the air when they hold them! My buddy does the exact same thing! Haha I dream of finding a meg tooth.. I know the chances are slim on finding one of those bad boys, but I’ve spent many hours looking for teeth. I have around 30 big and small… mostly small. The prized ones are a 1.75” great white tooth I believe.. looks like it just fell out of his mouth, except black of course. And I have this mako shark tooth that is a reddish color. That may be a normal color for fossilized teeth? But all the ones I’ve ever found were black.

    • @MOEMUGGY
      @MOEMUGGY 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Points365 it all depends on the mineral deposits they fossilized in. Supposedly, the black ones are mildly Radioactive. So you may not want you wear it as a necklace for long.
      And yeah, I'm pretty proud of that BF etley. I put a handle on it once.. It didn't look real. It was like a small sword. It would need its own case.
      And the table idea is cool, but I have outgrown it.. not enough room for all the Meg's and a samurai sword.. haha!
      I'm sure my modest little collection is meager compared to yours.
      And sorry for the slow response. Google isn't giving me notifications anymore for some reason. I literally have to come back to a comment to check for reply's. Dunno, I guess I'm getting treated like spam?

    I’ve talked to a few historians in my area and showed them my collection of mini balls and revolutionary musket balls and smaller pistol balls all found surface collecting, I’ve heard stories of Civil War soldiers reusing 71 to 76 caliber revolutionary war muskets and shooting 71 to 76 caliper mini balls out of them that might be what you found! I only have 2-76 and 1-71 caliber mini and round balls that are solid white because of the patina and age! If you can use a Digital or dial caliper and measure it and let me know the width! Those are extremely rare! We have a valley here that has seen action in both the revolutionary war and the Civil War and an added bonus stuffed with Artifacts the Indians had everything they needed in this valley And have lived there continually for over 3500 years!

    Awesome, I've been out 4 or 5 times and found a hammer stone ! Maybe ?

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! Yeah those hammer stones are sometimes hard to positively id if they don’t have the obvious signs of use on them. It’s cool finding the tools they used too. It’s not always about the sharp pointy stuff! Haha

      It's mostly what I find, hard stone tools, I have some very unique ones! Thanks for the reply!

      Always a pleasure! It may take me a while sometimes because I try and go back to read / respond to everyone from oldest to newest, with an actual response! Very time consuming, but I slowly chip away at them!

    man, you find some great stuff. wish you put commentary with your stuff.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks buddy! I have my reasons for the lack of commentary.. but mainly I like to keep my privacy and I feel as if my commentary would take away from the video. I just don’t feel like I have the knowledge to add anything helpful to the video. Thanks for the input and for checking out the finds!

      Thanks Spence! This one came out the gate like a raging bull.. it’s slowing down to a more normal pace now. I’ve noticed that when it’s really cold or crappy weather, the vids get way more views. Guess when it’s nice weather l, they’re all out instead of sitting around watching videos! Thanks for watching my numbers like a hawk…😂

    Do you post any artifact cases? Would love to see how some of these look together in a case.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As of yet I never have posted a collection video. It’s something I’ve thought of doing though. My problem is I have more artifacts than room to display them… the logistics of pulling out and shuffling around cases and artifacts would probably take a weekend to accomplish! Haha I leave a lot of the newer finds seen in these videos out of cases for a while. For the first few months I have to handle them look them over real good every time I walk by… it just makes it easier if they aren’t in a case! Haha

    Although you seem to be on a woodland site, have you found signs of the elusive Cumberland points?

    • @Points365
      @Points365  ปีที่แล้ว

      A number of sites I visit definitely have the potential. I’ve found 2 broken Cumberland bases so far, A whole beaver lake, which is basically an unfluted Cumberland, and a number of other paleo era finds. But ultimately the Cumberland remains elusive! Along with a slew of other points I can only seem to find broken pieces of! Haha

    Where are you, what lake or river in TN? Amazing finds!

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You name it… I’m there! I literally go all over the mid state hunting any lake, field, stream, river, or creek I can. No to be vague, but each video usually consists of finds from various locations across the mid state. I appreciate you checking out the new finds!

    Is it ok to hunt the riverbanks in Tn? I had heard that TVA would fine you if they caught you hunting artifacts.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve heard that as well… I never actually knew anyone that was fined either. I also know that some of the best artifact collections I’ve seen have been people that work/worked for tva and twra. Coincidence… I think not!
