Arrowhead hunting TN - Ride along! A day with me from start to finish, and everything in between!

  • This video is a little different from my usual. I decided to make a video showing how a normal day hunting goes for me. From my morning routine, getting on the water, each and every spot I hunt, and every artifact broken or whole. It turned out being a way better than usual day for me, which makes for a better video anyways! Hope you enjoy the ride along and be sure to let me know if you'd like more videos like this. They may not be as action packed, but are full of finds none the less! Thanks for watching and please, like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to keep up with all of my upcoming finds and videos!

      Thanks buddy! I figured it was about time to change up the video format for a video to let people know it’s not just walking around picking up artifacts by the handful! Haha thanks as always for checking it out and commenting!

    Love this!! Because we usually just film when we are actually finding things, viewers don't often realize the HOURS of walking, scanning, flipping flint chips, and climbing over trees that goes into a typical hunt. This video shows just how time-consuming and labor intensive hunting for artifacts can be. Well done, sir!

    • @Points365
      @Points365  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man! I thought I would try and capture that somehow.. although as you know, it’s hard to condense a 13 hour day into a video! Haha But as I’m sure you’ve experienced with the groups you take out, people sometimes think it comes easy. Especially people who get their first taste of artifacts by watching videos like we share. When someone asks for advice on finding artifacts, I always start off with explaining “it ain’t easy”! Haha I appreciate you as always for taking the time to watch and comment. Good luck out there!

      Thanks for the note. I’ve surfaced hunted in Anderson County, Campbell County, and Fentress Counties in Tennessee. Raised in Anderson Co. (Lake City to be straight up) can’t say Rocky Top. I need to start hunting again along the French Broad in East Knox Co., that’s where I live now, via canoe.

    Well I guess all that walking was rewarding when you poked that absolutely killer killer Pine!!!! Wow is that a beautiful point!!!!! Congratulations on that save!!! That was a great look at what you actually do in a day!!! I thought from your previous videos the beaches were way easier to navigate but that’s not the case!!!! I was out yesterday doing the same thing, climbing over trees, slipping, climbing under trees, looking thru modern rock, trash, maple seeds.. We found some stuff but never like you do!!!! I’m you showed the amount of walking and moving from spot to spot so people know how hard you work for it!! Excellent production!!!

    Nice change up ,as always i enjoy your unique style in delivery of content, especially this popular medium of Indigenous/native artifacts. The hourglass find and freeing the stranded turtle was a highlight & quite symbolic in my mind. Your videos in lacking any dialogue or narrative & naming every piece, along with no constant selfie action in the viewers face talking up a storm hooping and hollering about every find they make. makes your content on this subject unique on TH-cam. No grave robbers shovels and rakes, no digging, no sifting screens just a great long walk along the river, enjoying your surroundings as well as the amazing gifts made by the ancestors.

When I go back and look at my past finds / videos, I enjoy not hearing myself! Ha But to each their own. The river walks are for sure a highlight.. stumbling upon an artifact is an added bonus! NICE! It is good to see all the relics found. I, for one, wouldn't mind this format every now and then. Normally, if you're shooting the ground, I know you have already found something. In this video, I was searching just as hard as you, I'm sure. That broken Adena, near the end of the video, is a real find. Even though it is broken, the workmanship is super. And you don't want to know how many times I said out loud, "DUDE, You're killing me! Thanks for the video and different format.

Quite a few of the finds in this video were found as I was walking with the cam recording, which is new for me. That was kind of fun for me to catch on video. • @Points365
      @Points365  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of artifacts I find look like they have fresh flakes on them… especially in the sandier areas I hunt. I found some turkey tails years back that looked like they were just made. If I hadn’t seen where they spilled out in a landslide I would’ve swore they were fake. I had them looked at and it was explained that if an artifact is buried deep enough when it’s still new, it retains the fresh chipped looks, and can even avoid getting stained sometimes. Maybe that was the case here?! Either way I appreciate you checking it out and for your input!

    The video turned out well, thanks. But, I was wondering what the culture of the thumbnail point is. I have one like that, without serrations, and I've not been able to type it! It looks like a boat is needed for river collecting.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much! The point in question is a pine tree, but yours could be a kirk corner notch. The pine trees and kirks are very similar but the pine trees tend to have the serrations. They are both artifacts from the archaic period, which would make yours roughly 9,000 years old. Mind bogglingly impressive to think about!
      A boat definitely helps, but isn’t necessary. I hunted to lakes and whatnot boat less for years with great success! Thanks for checking out the finds and for your input. Hopefully I was some help to you. Good luck on your future hunts!

    As long as there is no home in sight, I'm point hunting. No man owns gods land but I respect the land. I won't trash it or intrude on the land they're actually using. Never been in trouble. But I have also asked to look on properties that were smaller and I can see the house from where I was.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Having, showing, and being respectful usually gets you a long way with people. Unfortunately there seem to be too many people in this hobby that aren’t exactly the type of people you’d want poking around in your back yard… Or at least the people I have snooping through the creeks and banks in my woods aren’t. I’ve had them get downright argumentative and hateful toward me for even questioning why they are there. That in return gets the same attitude. If they are respectful and straight up tell me they are looking for artifacts in my creek, I’d probably tell em good luck, and I’ll leave the gate open for you so you don’t have to slide under the barbed wire fence on your way out like you came it!🤣

I have had a couple badly broken pieces restored, just to see what it looked like. It’s insane! Just by looking at it you could never tell the base was half gone, or the tip missing.. it’s impressive what the guy I used can do.

      Haha well… this particular day isn’t exactly normal for me! It’s typically a handful of broken pieces and 1 complete one if I’m lucky! But the natives depended on water for survival, so that’s always been my strategy… follow the water! To start out you will definitely be wandering about what might seem aimlessly, and putting in tons of miles. You will eventually get a good idea about spots you consistently have luck at! Off topic,. I'm still dreaming of relocating to TN. What do you think of the Chattanooga area? or Nashville?
    If you had to start all over again in TN, where would you land? And not just artifact wise, I mean somewhere decent to live, with work, decent area and housing, that isn't totally New York-ifornia'd yet like Florida.

    • @Points365
      @Points365  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Man you’re gonna be hating life in Nashville. Native Nashvillians like myself are referred to around here as unicorns these days. All the natives have been out priced and booted out by the blue state transfers. Of course Nashville is going in the gutter in the process. Chattanooga is better, but not much. You get on the outskirts of most of these cities and you still have decent people and access to plenty of jobs. Dude Wilson county, (Mt. Juliet, Lebanon, Watertown) now that I think about it would be a great place to relocate to. Lebanon / Watertown is still country but access to tons of work in all kinds of different fields.. especially construction which I believe was up your alley.

      @@Points365 Thanks, I'll look into that. I get another vacation in June. I'll have to come visit and put boots on the ground. If I can find work and affordable housing, I'll leave Florida for good. There's no future here. No chance for retirement in this State unless you're a Yankee trust fund baby. All the stories of Florida-man are sorta true. It's just that they're not really true Floridians. They're Northerners that come on vacation, and stay on probation... haha! This place has become a zoo. Not where I want to spend the rest of my life. Not to mention the 11 months of summer. Brutal here most of the year.
