- Fall is continuing on with more quality pieces being added to the collection! There are a number of different points and tools featured in this video. Everything from a drill, blunt tip, uniface scraper, large points, small points, and a really old paleo era piece... What I believe is a beaver lake. Haha nope… it’s not broken yet at least! I have nightmares about the wire on the back of my artifact frames randomly breaking, sending my frame of points falling to the floor. Let’s just hope that remains a nightmare and not a reality!😂 But thanks man, I appreciate it!

Haha I feel ya man! My buddy won’t let me live down the time I took him out with me and I told him “I wouldn’t go much past those roots, you probably won’t find anything past there”…. 6 steps or so past those roots I told him to stop at and he was yelling! He found a mega sweet drill that was whole. Needless to say I now walk past the spot I told him to stop at… every time! Haha

Woow woow woow, I haven't enjoyed a video like this in a long time my friend. Scraper, drill, arrowheads diversity and clasp with a gold clasp with that paleo. Sure if it was a hunting place there friend. That place will give you many gifts yet. Blessings on your way and who accompanies you friend.

tennessee too and we are blessed. That BL is amazing and I was lucky enough to find one too a while back. I thought it was aCopena but had it looked at and they called it a Beaver lake. good job on the videos and look forward to many more.

I had quite a few people thinking that beaver lake was a copena. If you were holding it in your hands looking at it you’d be able to tell no doubt it was a beaver lake no doubt! That Beaver Lake point is a first cousin to a Cumberland point. Remember the exact spot you found you found it,there's probably another one there in the future.
The spot where I found that beav lake is one of my regular spots. It puts out everything from old stuff like that to Madisons. It’s one of my regular spots though! I still haven’t found a Cumberland though. It’s one of my bucket list finds! I found a broken, double fluted Cumberland base about a month ago. That hurt!
I play a game with your videos. I try to pick a favorite point. I come up empty handed every time because it's so hard to figure that one out. Good lord, man.

Haha as you said, it was laying right out there! Some poor guy stopped short 15’ or so of walking up on it. His foot prints stopped and he turned around! He has no idea what he missed by stopping short!

I'm trying to get something going to where you can pay for a license. Like a hunting license and be able to hunt the Tennessee River. They have undercover boats and hidden cameras out there on the water watching for people now. It's bs. All that stuff just washes away. Lost forever. Pisses me off

The majority of people at those shows buy their collections, that's why they can put a whole case of Clovis' together. Probably pretty costly though. I prefer finding them rather than buying them myself. Mike Brooks and Richard rocks put together a good show. They get a lot of the top arrowhead youtubers displaying in their show, so you know everybody's collections are personal finds.
I feel ya man.. I take pride in my collection, especially knowing they are all personal finds I worked hard for and earned! What states / area do these artifacts shows you’re talking about typically take place? That sounds more like my type of show right there!
The show im talking about is in tuscumbia Missouri near the lake of the Ozarks. I don't know if you watch any of creekdalton's videos or not, but he is usually there, then there's nomadic adventures, and Richard Rockhouse, and lots of other big names in the TH-cam artifact hunting community. It's a great show.
@@Points365 I have to say if you ever have a chance to travel to that show you won't regret it. It's a who's who of MO arrowhead hunters and all personal finds. Had a chance to attend a couple years ago and that group is a great bunch of guys and gals.

I think artifacts just want to be found by you, only you.. they don’t even hide, laying flat out, sticking straight up in the air practically jumping in your hands ready to be filmed.. Man you find the best artifacts on TH-cam by far!!! That blunt was sick.. What are you calling that axe looking piece? Oh and the G10 dalton just to round things out!!! You’re having one hell of a year! Congratulations! Hey I actually found a site right by my house on accident in the woods I have Doug on it like three times I found two broken blades in a broken tip and for me that’s fantastic! Looks like it’s mid arctic so far. I’m super excited I always thought they were there now I have proof!

But for now I just have to settle with being a wknd warrior. That axe looking piece I really don’t have a clue?! I was hoping someone on here would be able to label it for me. Its an interesting piece and figured a few people might like it!
But dude that’s awesome having a spot right there by your house!! You can’t get any more convenient than that. Have you made yourself a sifter yet? Those archaic pieces are usually really nice and come in a wide variety of types. I hope it winds up being a honey hole for you!! There’s a camp on some property I own. I’ve dug it minimally. Flakes galore and have found a number of points there, but I find it much easier to walk a few miles of creek or river to find artifacts! Haha when my spots dry up might get back to digging it. I at least know it won’t be going anywhere until then!

Nah man! I had so many different guesses as to what type it was, I think I’m more confused now than before I asked everyone’s opinion! Haha I’m going to an artifact show tomorrow with that piece in tow. Hopefully someone there will have a good guess as to what they thing it is. I’ll let you know what the consensus is afterwards!

@@Points365 You really should. I believe it will give you a better handle on the whole copper kettle situation. I don't know about you but I can read about something or be told about it but seeing on a video gives me a much better understanding of it. The ones he finds in that video are basically Madison points made of copper. In Wyoming,South Dakota and that general area the points are made like Adena Robbins points. See ya later and good luck. FINALLY got to check out that vid! I can definitely see the resemblance. Bangle I think is what he called them. That kettle brass looked a lot thinner than that piece I found. Hard to really tell just by looking at the video though. It was an interesting video, thanks for directing me to it!
@@Points365 I believe you're is from the bottom of the kettle which is much thicker. Not positive but probably a good guess as anything else.👍☮️
It always blows my mind how the oldest points are always the finest made with the best craftsmanship. Not to mention how the Clovis, Quad, Beaver Lake, and Dalton points, etc. all look like they were made by the same fellow. Like they weren't allowed to deviate from the design for 1000's of years. You would expect that locally among a certain tribe maybe. Not the entire North American continent... mind-boggling.🤔
First flint tools were slivers of flint .. then came the Clovis - paleo era … somewhere in that transition from paleo - early archaic I would imagine is when the great floods happened … cause they went from percussion in archaic and back to pressure flacking in woodland I believe is what that time period is called … I feel like there is a missing era of learning by the Indians between the slivers & early paleo !!! I wish I was a licensed archeologists so I would have access to prove that !!!
@@kevinellis5327 there is the Western stem tradition, which is thought to predate the Clovis and temporally overlaps but does not have a clear evolutionary relationship with the Clovis tradition. Then there is the Redstone projectile point, which is a direct relative to Clovis, but is thought to represent the population directly after the younger dryas. After the younger dryas it is believed that there was a population bottleneck in North America, and Redstone represents those surviving people. They are found in a much smaller area, and much smaller numbers.
What really blows my mind is, the lancelet projectile points with the concave base like Clovis hit the ground running in North America at the peak of their evolution, and did not change for almost three thousand years until after the Dalton projectile points. These points are clearly related. So much so, that if you held two in your hand, you almost can't tell the two apart.
Now suppose you taught your son how to make a Clovis point... Do you think his, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandson is going to make it the exact same projectile Point flake for flake? My kid can't remember to take their bike out of the driveway. Imagine following your father's exact directions for 3000 years? After looking at projectile points for almost 50 years, I'm starting to believe the biblical narrative is correct. Maybe people really did live for thousands of years back then. Because it certainly looks like the same fellow made these projectile points. It's hard to believe for thousands of years there were no independent thinkers, no Mavericks, no Rebels in society. nobody thought outside the box. Everybody just repeated what they were taught generation after generation after generation. Now that I've said this, you will not be able to unsee it.
I hear ya about the old stuff being the most well made. You would think that over time the quality and craftsmanship would improve… but like times now I guess, everything is getting cheaper with significantly less quality! Haha I got a good kick out of the “your kid can’t even remember to keep the bike out of the driveway” comment!🤣
I read an article recently where they thought the Clovis style artifacts were only made for 300 years. Doesn’t seem possible to me, but an interesting read either way. The younger dryas event… now that’s some interesting stuff to read about! I’m convinced I can see evidence of it in places where I hunt.
@@Points365 yeah, we're definitely de-evolving as a species. Kids nowadays think cursive is a foreign language. And people used to have problems using "your, you're and you are" in a sentence. Now they think your is spelt, "UR" 🤦♂️
And yeah, I have read where the Clovis were estimated to be about 300 years also. That seems to be the general time frame they give for any culture. You have the Clovis for 300 years, then the Redstone for 300 years, then the quad/ Beaver Lake, Cumberland, Dalton, etc, etc.. all of these points are very similar, and obviously directly related. that would kinda be like if Jesus made a Clovis point. Do you think people today would still be making Clovis points? Like I said, it boggles my mind. I have a hard time wrapping my head around that. At the end of the day, they are just sharp pointy rocks. There was no need for them to make lancelet points with concave bases EXACTLY the same for thousands of years. Yet they did. And it doesn't stop there. Just look at the Adena culture. Those were some unimaginative people. You could have two Dickson's found thousands of miles away from each other, and can't tell them apart... Why?? Mind = Blown

I’m not dismissing it either! I never leave the house to hunt without my lucky point in my pocket, my lucky walking stick (a stick a beaver ate the bark off of), and my lucky hat! 🤣 I swear I can tell if I leave one behind!

Thanks buddy I appreciate it! Those old pieces are just hard to beat when it comes to quality. They knew what they were doing when they made them that’s for sure! It’s amazing what they could create out of raw materials, using the most primitive of tools.
A good hunt as usual. Wonder how many points are washed out into the water to never be found? A land owner told me that before they put the newer dams on the Ohio that he planted corn on a low laying field next to the river. The new dams raised the water level and now that spot is completely under water. He said the field was full of points. 😞
Thinking about how many artifacts that have washed into the waterways, never to be seen again gives me nightmares! It’s one of the reasons I hunt as much as I do. As you can see, a lot of my finds are a few good waves away from being washed away for good! But my G grandad farmed along a river. I have old pictures of his fields in the 60’s. The amount of erosion that has washed that field off into the river is unbelievable. You can still find artifacts in that field, but about 50-100 feet of it has washed into the river since the 60’s. It pains me!
I have friends here in Charleston, SC that dive the rivers here to recover NA artifacts, fossils, and WP artifacts.
I’ve always wanted to dive for artifacts! Most bodies of water around here have 0 visibility, so that eliminates that idea I reckon. :/
@@Points365 These are brackish water rivers and at low tide when there’s no dilution the water is brown. The guys I know do most all of their searching by feel.
The one that was sticking straight up out of the sand does not appear to be a hafted scraper but a specialized knife 🔪✝️✝️✝️

Thanks Mike! But yeah, I agree. It’s like the more modern they became, the more they realized they didn’t have to try so hard to make a pointy rock! Haha Some think copena articulate, some think beaver lake on the last one. My vote goes toward beaver lake. It’s just different from all the other copenas in my collection. It’s ground in all the right places for a beaver lake, and was found in a spot that spits out transitional / early archaic pieces.

Yeah its worn down almost smooth on both sides. I thought it strange looking myself. They must’ve used the heck out of it doing something! I’m thinking beaver lake on that last one myself. It’s ground on the base and half way up on both sides. A couple people on here though maybe copena articulate… I have to disagree to myself on that. To me it’s no doubt beaver lake!
@@Points365 I have a big stemmed point I found in a field that the Native American must have found in a creek . It's smooth all over . Not ground , looks tumbled in a creek to me .

No sir, I’ve given a few away, but I’ve never sold one. I get out there on the hunt to expand my collection! I’m going to eventually have to find somewhere to expand my collection… display space is getting scarce! Haha

I’d say it’s about 3-4 weeks worth of hunting. They don’t come as easy as the videos make it look! Haha

Oh my Lord what a fantastic array of artifacts ! Congratulations my friend ! I’m curious as to how much territory you covered to affect their recovery ? I was particularly taken with that small double ended axe(?), not that they weren’t all fantastic. I immensely enjoyed this video. That last was a day maker if ever there was one.

Thank you! I cover quite a bit of ground in order to recover what I do. Overall I typically span across 6 or more counties here in middle TN. For this particular video my search spanned across 3 counties or so. Miles… no clue. Hours.. too many to count! Haha
As far as the last one, I would call that one a hafted scraper. Some people would call it a blunt tip. Although I do think some of the rounded tipped pieces were used as blunt tip projectile points, some such as the one in this video, was repurposed as a hafted scraper I believe. I wish I could’ve seen that piece when it was whole! That blue colored material was beautiful!
