  • This is a walkthrough video on removing the engine and transmission from an Audi B7/B6 S4. The front suspension was removed prior to the engine removal due to a required control arm replacement. The methods used in this video reflect my personal experience, and may not work best for everyone. Do not attempt this job unless you are 110% confident in your mechanical ability.

    Did this on a VW Touareg but I only removed the engine actually did it without dropping the subframe

    Is the front end sill required to be removed if your fully dropping the engine down by lifting the car with a hoist?

      Muck Man - You probably could, but it would be way more fucking around than it’s worth. The front end comes off in twenty minutes.

      Comes off in 20 minutes if you've done it before. Takes w a y y y longer if its your first attempt

    Is this the same procedure for the 2.0t?

      I'm not sure, we've never pulled the motor on one of those. I would use this as a reference, and then just make sure that there's no major differences with disconnecting the shifter linkage and slave cylinder. The driveshafts and subframe mounting should be very similar.

      I own 2005 s4 b7,pain in the ass to work on bc engine is huge and there is very little space.If u have somebody whi can work on this car go for it.If not then stay away from it.Having said that car is rlly fun to drive .

      @@DevJB ha. $2000 barely buys the timing set, never mind bearings and rings.

      @@DevJB I was going off the list you mentioned. Rings are about $1300. Timing set is roughly $1700. Crank bearings are a little over $2k. I wouldn’t even bother rebuilding one.

    Common sight on audi's build after 2005.
    Self eating engines, self destructing gearboxes, etc, etc, etc. As if there are no better alternatives.

      Can you help me with my problem
      So I have an Audi S8 D2 2000 4.2 360bhp and I need to take out the engine but don't want to take out the trans and subframe how do you do that can you send me the message with all the steps especially the one that tells you how to remove the starter motor as the 3 bolts holding the torque convertor are behind the starter motor
