    thanks for the video. Honestly this video is by far the most detailed video on how to DIY on the timing chains.

      thanks! yeah i wanted to go into more detail when it came to other stuff. i know there are great videos out there but I felt I needed to go the extra mile with some explanations as to why

    Little late to the party on this one but I’m currently trying to lock my timing in place. I got the Schwaben timing tools and was wondering where you put the crank lock pin? Do I need to use it or are the plates to hold the cams in place enough?

    • @markb6s4
      @markb6s4  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MasonDesjardins so I failed to mention towards the beginning of the video the crank lock pin does need to be installed. I installed it in a previous video before this on. I only mention removing the pin once it's time to rotate the engine. I talk about it at the @24:48 min mark about the removal. For installing the crank pin. Remove the cover that's covering the to get to the crank. Once removed rotate the engine till you see the hole where the crank lock pin goes. You'll be able to notice it. Once the crank pin is all the way threaded in. Then go ahead and start removing the timing components. Install the new timing components and then as in the video at the 24:48 min mark the pin can be removed

      @@MasonDesjardins the plates to hold the cans are not enough!!!!! Please use the correct tool on the cams side to hold it in place along with the cam plate tool. do not rely on that plate only. its only to help align the cams in correct place.

    Is there a video on how to time the engine? No the timing chains, cam timing and crank timing?

    • @markb6s4
      @markb6s4  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure I understand your question. The crank, cams, and timing all are in sync when doing the timing. You can't do one with out effecting the other two components. So there is no just adjusting the cams or the crank.

      @@David-yy7lb in a previous video I explain as to what happened to the engine. since the engine was going somewhere else to be rebuilt. I didnt want to cause any more damage to it when removing the timing.

    @mark_b6s4 Firstly, thank you for showing this !
    Did you not remove transmission when removed engine? I see it in the car.
    I thought we had to remove transmission, exhaust, driveshaft, cradle, sway, cv's. No ?
    I'm daydreaming that this is possible in S4 B6 to save so much hassle. Thanks!

    • @markb6s4
      @markb6s4  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Your welcome 🙏. I did not remove the transmission. It all stayed in. As you have mentioned it saves time on removing those parts to also get the transmission out. The only thing that is tough when doing this is when it is time to install the engine back up to the transmission. In one of my other video I talk on how it can be done

    Mark, the chain tensioner gasket. Can I order 2 of the same one and it'll work for both sides or is there a right and left?

      @@vonbrewsky8019 no, the driver side and passenger side are different shapes. Down below I have linked the two different ones you will need 👍. I had a feeling this is what you may have ment by, but wasn't sure. These are timing gaskets and not tensioner gaskets, but all is good. I am very guilty when it comes to naming things incorrectly 😅

    What is the cost?

    • @markb6s4
      @markb6s4  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are several factors that determines the cost. You doing the job your self vs a shop doing it. Depends where you buy your parts. For parts, I recommend to look up AMtuned.com and on there navigate to the 4.2 sectional and the kits comes with the parts you'll need for timing
