Again I'm impressed by the engineerty and quick thinking ideas I would never had thought the electric release strike would work especially comming out of a yale 89 were as the latch is quite bog standard
Hi i am a bit puzzled ! (i am a locksmith of 45 years) The A1 electric release, as you know, is very shallow. All rim automatic deadlatches will only deadlock if extended fully, so the lock can't deadlock when closing into it unless the gap is so large between door and frame that the auxillary bolt wont fire the deadlocking anyway. ...but love your videos, btw!
Hi mate. This worked absolutely perfect with the electronic release. This wasn’t the BS version so the bolt doesn’t throw further. And the anti slip pin rested on the keep enough to activate the deadlocking function. I’ve done this many times when there has been and electronic door release and never had a problem 👍🏼 Glad you are enjoying the videos and thank you for watching 😊🙏🏼
I've got a problem with this exact lock I've closed my front door and now I can't open it from the inside or out, the handle moves slightly downwards and upwards but then hit a resistance and it won't go any further, I've tried using the key in the cylinder and the back of the lock with no joy what's gone wrong with it? I installed it back in 2016 and have no problems with it until now 😥 is it a fault with the slip pin? I've bought the exact lock as a replacement and it says on the box it has automatic deadbolt so has old one gone faulty 🙄
Hi David. Yes it sounds like the lock has failed unfortunately. I’ve only ever seen this once before. My advice would be to call a local, respected locksmith to sort this out for you. Get recommendations from others or have a look on Checkatrade for a locksmith. Thank you for watching and I hope you manage to get it sorted 🤞🏼
Do you need to cut the thin spindle/bar? I have a problem with my ERA Double Locking Night-latch & when unlocking the door from the outside, you cannot remove the key unless pulling down on the latch.
Yes you do have to cut the tail piece bar. If it is slightly too long it will cause problems with the lock ‘sticking’ but be careful not to cut it too short 👍🏼 Thanks for watching 😊

Thanks buddy. And thanks again for watching 🙏🏼😁
Is engineerty a new word, or just 'ingenuity'?

Nice. Only problem was, you were on the wrong side of the car. 😁
Hahaha!! I like to live dangerously 😂
I don't see surface-mounted deadlocking latches available anymore, Ilco used to make them.
Here we use latch guards to improve security.
Is this good enough for insurance?
No, this is not a British Standard lock. However, you can get a British Standard version.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Thanks for your reply
Is the British standard of this good enough?
@@solo8299 Yes, they are very good locks and very reasonably priced

I think the norm is to leave the tail about 12mm sticking out
Sometime less than 12mm

why is sound so funny?
This was in the early days John before I had a microphone 😁
