Well. I may have to alter my opinion of John Mayer. I've never heard him more accessible.- song after song. Great players, great arrangements, and the lest affected singing style. He seems less "trying" and more expressing the liveliness of the arrangements. Less mood allows more substance to be delivered. Well done.
Insane idea they don't have in ear monitors but floor monitors. I'd be seriously worried about damage to the ears. Insane performance though. Real music, no tricking around, just skill.

yes, it does get faster. It’s kind of nice to hear in an era where the industry sets up bands to tour and the “lead musician” is a click track or precorded parts that need one.
Can't believe I'm saying this but it was actually Steve Jordan coming in way too fast. John set the tempo then to had to speed up significantly to fall in with Steve.
man controversial take but Joh sounds like shit with those silver sky's. As soon as he picked up the fender in the last song I got goosebumps. can't do it like fender unfortunately.
Imagine how good ‘why did you think I was would sound on a strat’! Seriously that Prs is rubbish. This is 60% of the sound on the Trio CD. No comparison.
Breaking news: this is a live recording, recorded with concert microphones and cranked up audio settings. Live recordings are rarely mixed as good as studio recordings, partly because you want them to sound like a concert. As for the guitar debate, the two are virtually identical. 3 single coils and a bolt on maple neck. Quit yapping.
@@NotDingse it’s not a comparison of the cd vs live. It’s tone of the guitar he’s using on the trio cd vs the tone of the prs. And clearly you know nothing about guitars if you think they’re the same because they share the physical characteristics of 3 single coil pickups and a bolt on neck.
@@davidharding200 Let me reiterate my point since you just contradicted yourself while failing to see my point. The tone of the guitar is also affected by the difference circumstances of which they were recorded. The tone you're talking about is much more a product of his amps and effect boards/pedals than it is which type of single coil guitar he uses. The overall sound quality of this perforance is pretty bad. It sounds poorly mixed and overly compressed. I don't think you can use this recording to compare the two: What is the point even? It might as well be his amp setup that is different. As for guitartone in general, the only thing that plays a significant part is the quality and design of the pickups. John starts slow. Steve goes uh aaaahh! This where we are at.
Steve is the pilot in this (and really, every) group.
Love the musical integrity of that move!
I noticed the same thing!!
Would be so cool if the JM3 release a studio album, tour it and record live sessions with Tiny Desk and KEXP

lol playback was also there in the old days, maybe even more wtf

you talkin about the amp?
I mean … but it’s not
Nvm, you’re right

THAT TONE IS IMMACULATE
That vintage Roger's drum kit that Steve is playing is very cool.

That Band of Gypsies groove was awesome.
All of you saying Steve was rushing…he is a world class musician. Do you think he was making a tempo mistake? 😂😂 it was intentional. Relax.
