Make sure the guy is worth it. I dated an avoidant who turned out to be a loser and when I had him hooked, I had to run. Alex’s tips are spot on but make sure the person is worth it.

same.. he does send a meaningless text every day just to keep me on the loop now that I think of it, but only meets every 2-3weeks. says he's busy, traveling hiking working out cooking exhibitions doing all sorts of stuff by himself or with his 'male' friends.. ? -according to him- but that went on for 2 months already. I finally confronted him and called it quits. Told him i like being with him but i feel distant with his inconsistency and don't like when he ignores my text replies treating me like an option, he replies 24hrs later saying 'don't think too much, i'm not good with chatting, i was busy'.. wow that took 24hrs to reply? so i replied asking what he wants cuz I want to invest my precious energy, time, and emotions in someone who's willing to do the same.. him? no answer for a week since then, today he changed his profile pic of him having some tropical decorated cocktail with someone in front of him who took his pic. 2 guys hanging out having cocktails? puhleez... as if. He seemed liked a perfect catch but now i know why he never got married till 50.

That sounds like a lot of work.....
Sounds like someone who will keep looking around sooner or later.
What kind of life is that?
Alex you're not talking about how to change his behavior until the second half of the video, only talking about changing our own behavior.
Perhaps the avoidant man is the one you need to avoid completely. Because long term, he's going to look around and you will obviously, inevitably be taken for granted.

Yep! Was with mine for 5 years and he was very disconnected. He left me and my daughter in Feb. he was very involved in the beginning. Then within months of the relationship he literally just wasn’t there anymore :( but he tried. But never really committed. Now he’s keeping me on a tether and left his shit here in my garage and his car. It’s been 8 months and he’s still got his stuff here. Along with seeing my daughter every now and then. Wants to go with her and I next month to cedar point. Very confusing.

I was LABELLING the men...but NO!! These men are on The Autistic Spectrum!! ( My Indian friends & me)
Even my EX HUSBAND is on this Spectrum!! (I've know him 25yrs - he couldn't FEEL me)...I'd love to talk to you about it.

Alex I love your work but I need a bottle of wine right now.... It is so hard to always take THEIR emotions and their attachment style into consideration. It sounds like the entire relationship is about addapting to his needs.... other wise he will run. Oh man.. And to come to thiink he pursued me for 3 whole months before I actually opened up, it took me so long just because i was afraid for him to break my heart!!! and now this??

What if it ended abruptly again when it was going amazing he opened up about being avoidant and his past (he’s never done that with anyone else) and this time I chased because I thought it would show him I wasn’t going to abandon him. But now I have done no contact for 3 months and haven’t heard anything. Is it done for good?

I met a guy in May, he was wonderful, he was alot of things I have wanted in a partner. Everything seemed to be going so well, he's talking about seeing a future with me. Then he pulled back Really hard last month and said he was unsure about everything. So we stopped dating and remained friends and now I'm dating again and it's like he's interested again. Will we always have to be in the chasing stage?

How often do you talk or text with your avoidant in an ldr almost 2 years in. Always when we talk I look sad and than he makes me smile. Promises he comes more often and he hide s again. I am trying to find balance. We are always so happy and drawn to each other. We are planning to meet going on vacation and closing the gap.

Avoidants porbably have vision abou jobs, hobbies purpose...which is actually healthy thing....because some people are born with a talent and want to fulfil the urgency of it.
but I guess they are not against close realtionsp they just probably want to fulfil th edream...I think he may love people in general, but schedule is pushing him to be alone for some time to undrestand why its difficult to fulfil the needs of customers or business, trying to understand it takes a lot of time so therefore has less time for partners, not because he wats to have less time for partner but because of other things...but sometimes mediation helps people to achieve things faster both career and loving realationship. because mediatation makes the heart blissful and heart is a great advisor for health career and relationships.
