    I’ve had IBS diagnosed about 8 years ago but had no proper guidance as to how to proceed. I’ve had IBS symptoms as long as I can remember and it was put down to ‘ate too much or too spicy, too rich etc’. Just avoided some obvious foods and got on with life! Recently discovered lots of channels giving lists of Fodmap foods and diets which helped a bit. Your channel is God Sent and just discovered today! It was a complete discussion and explained thoroughly what the different issues are and I have understood it very well. For eg- spicy curries causing problems doesn’t mean it’s the chillies causing the problem and could be the onions and garlic. Also eating too much fibre which I did, sometimes 10 portions. Thank you so much for this video. I’m absolutely delighted to gain the correct knowledge on how to deal with my issues. I’m dealing with weight issues mostly due to eating the wrong foods and resulting bloating, gas and water retention. I’m sure I’ll find my way out of this problem. Thanks once again. Subscribed.

    I absolutely agree with the statement that quantity or combination can be the problem. In September I decided that table sugar and the sugary processed items from the grocery store was the cause of my arthritic inflammation. So I decided to convert to artificial sweeteners and those that were considered healthy sweeteners like Stevia and erythritol. I purchased a bunch of packet sweeteners that contained Stevia, erythritol, and monk fruit. After about two weeks, I had an area of inflammation that sent me to the ER. CAT scan confirmed it was not diverticulitis, just inflammation. I had another bout in mid October and another in November, all different areas of my abdomen, but clearly intestinal. Now its December and I have diverticulitis with a fever. I was using this sweetener in my coffee as well as buying many items from the store that were no-sugar products; like pancake syrup sweetened with Xylitol, and a protein drink sweetened with erythritol, etc. I was heavily invested in my no-sugar rule! What I was not aware of is that sugar alcohols from these artificial sweeteners were basically GI suicide. Hot beds of sugar now in my intestines that bacteria feed off of. I don't even have to do the FODMAP procedure because I was free from diverticulitis for well over five years. I'm confident that if I rid myself of these artificial sweeteners, or at least reduce my daily use of them, that my gut will return to normal again. I'm positive that I've had these same sweeteners in my diet before because the protein drink was something that I've had pretty much daily for many years without any problem. Adding a boat-load of artificial sweeteners to my died was disastrous!

    Haven't Monash significantly reduced recommended safe levels for strawberries, grapes and tomatoes recently after doing a retest? I'm pretty sure they are not safe to eat freely any more.

    Although medical professionals are much more aware of a holistic approach to all sorts of problems than they used to be, my impresison is that there is still a tendency to compartmentalise, as with the stress on distinguishing between gluten free and fructane free. In the case of what is not very precisely dubbed "IBS" it is quite possible I think that someone may suffer from alergenes-gluten sensitivity AND have IBS. In my case, I myself seem to be very histamin intolerant, have a high Ige count, low diaminoxidase but all my symptoms seem to be those which fit in with IBS-D. I recommend that people find out what their special horror triggers are, because people are very different, (red wine doesnt hit me the way it is supposed to hit histamin sensitive people) -mine are breads, tomatoes, beer champagne and most sauces. Im getting the impression that tomatoes are the worse things of all for me. Also never forget the "faithful three"-white rice, potatoes and carrots. These three are great,are gentle on the digestion of nearly everyone. I especially stress carrots because I personally have not heard of anyone who has a carrot problem -whats more in these times of inflation carrots dont cost very much. Take care to peel carrots maybe. They get all sorts of contaminates on their skins.

      Beautiful and very well said!!! I applaud you!!! I am just under 70. I have had food issues and allergies since I was little. 2 hernias of which I still have 1. Epilepsy and treated with drugs until I was 12. It turns out I was allergic to processed homogenized milk. Fruits made me throw up. And the list goes on. Deceived by doctors that understood none of this. Medicines only!!! So in 2018, I start the meat only diet after doing vegetarian, starch and vegan diets since 1983. I got very lethargic and puffy after the salt and red meat that is naturally very high in tryptophan. Three days ago, on March 25, 2023, I said forget all the sugary fruits and treats. Focus on white Himalayan Rice properly cooked to remove most of the inorganic arsenic. As you say, carrots can have pesticides on them. Concerning potatoes, the only potato I can eat safely is a yellow gold. All the other potatoes super spike my blood sugar andI become a raving jumpy lunatic. So today, the 28th, 2023 of March, for breakfast, I made 2 local farm eggs, 1 5oz burger Angus, 1 oz cheese and 2 oz cooked rice with a little Ragu sauce. I feel incredibly alert, strong, much less pain and overall more energy. I eat red meat, some pork loin, some chicken, a large variety of fish. I recently read an article regarding the importance of coffee for our microbiota. I drink tea. Lemon water no sugar is good too. I am stopping the white stevia powder as I think it activates my gut microbes to blow off stinky gas. I also studied the histamanic response and that was another good rabbit hole for me!! Thanks!!

    The FODMAP diet help me a lot to overcome my weight loss. I thought I was about to die. I lost 20 quilos and was very sick and weak. However, I noticed that my digestive problems were caused by the chlorine used to treat tap water. Watch the levels of chlorine in your region. I now test these levels whenever I travel somewhere in this world.

    • @loretovasquez7738
      @loretovasquez7738 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patients often say tap water makes them feel bad and people who don't know tell them it's only their perception. They say tea is ok, but tap is not. Boiling the water helps a lot, a filter is better.

    • @solangeamato2949
      @solangeamato2949 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loretovasquez7738 Yes. Tea is a good idea when we are travelling as boiling the water kills many bacteria and the chlorine evaporates!
      I now use 3 filters with activated charcoal.
