- Hi, everyone! Today, I share my college decision reactions for 2020! I applied to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT (HYPSM), all 8 Ivies, and plenty more (26 colleges in total). Enjoy!

I watched some of the college decision reactions in 2018, and I definitely watched all the college decision reaction videos in 2019. Now, it's my turn to add my college decision reactions 2020!!

Your initial reaction to the early deferral of your dream school brings back so many memories!! I had the exactly same reaction lol. I had only applied to MIT early and heavily procrastinated my other apps until I got the early MIT decision so the deferral not only felt like a rejection, but it also meant I had to really crank through some applications quickly; I was just utterly dejected. A few years later and I find myself on the verge of graduating MIT so it all worked out haha. Glad you ended up with some great choices as well! Harvard is overrated, anyways. Good luck!!

everything happens for a reason!
Sometimes schools realize that the person is too good for the school and since schools like to try and keep their admission stats lower(really low if it's private), they determine if the student would actually go into their college. Sometimes they offer scholarships if they really would like to have them, but other times they waitlist them to see if they write another letter. In that letter, it is common that you explain what you did after you submitted your application. The letter signifies that you actually have an interest, and then you get accepted(hopefully).
that's all true! but i think the reason i didn't get into bu is largely because the essay i wrote for them was not very good...

a good amount of school to apply to in my opinion is around like 10. a few safety schools a few target schools and a couple more hopeful or “reach” schools. Applying to too many can be like mentally draining and if you knowww you don’t want to go there you are taking a spot from some individuals who may really want to go there!! @@arniie5288 Didn't get into a single one of the higher-end colleges I applied to lol. I graduated at the top of my class, got a 1500 on the SAT, and was in a leadership position for show choir, choir, band, marching band, art club, anime club, and a racial equity organization, but I think my essays were mid and I didn't have nearly enough volunteering experience (this was the year where they stopped requiring SAT/ACT scores to be submitted and also I'm asian).
I'm commuting to a local college rn and it's honestly given me time to realize that my entire life I've been pressured to excel at academics but I love drawing and art more than anything. I'm tired of academic validation being my only method of building my self-esteem; it feels like what makes me happy when I get a good test score is not that it shows that I learned, but because it shows that I'm better than other people, which is not who I'm trying to be as a person. So I just added an art major and I'm trying to do something in art-entertainment, and since I live at home I have a lot more space to draw and do projects.
So, I think they were right to reject me because I probably would have gotten burnt out really quickly had I gotten in.

deferred means that you applied early action/early decision, but the admissions office wants to wait until the regular decision cycle to make a final decision

Stanford didn't have good connections to jobs, like the other schools, espescially, like Colorado School of Mines. You want to go to a school with fortune 500 connections.
