Every high school weights gpa differently and some don’t weight gpa at all. At the end of the day, many colleges reweight an applicant’s gpa based on their own metrics, so weighted gpa as defined by one’s high school doesn’t hold as much weight for the college in my opinion
If ur a robot with 5.0 gpa and 1600 SAT and no ECs, then chances of good colleges are slim. If you have a 4.5 gpa, 1550 sat and have a passion in let’s say art, ur chances are much higher. U don’t want to be a robot and have no personality

I would love to go to MIT :) I have some good ECs but they aren’t very developed yet and I’m worried given the pandemic is slowing everything down it’s going to take even longer to develop them. I’m taking all H classes as a freshman and I’ve maintained all As except 3 A-s (as far as end of quarter grades). I’m planning on taking 2 or 3 APs next year.
your grades look solid, and i think you'll be well on your way if you can keep that up. i think now is actually a good time to try to develop your ecs because there are a lot of great things you can do online from home! some schools require all test scores to be sent, while others say that they will only consider the highest scores sent. Since your friend has such a big ump in scores, i would advise to check with each school's policy
My school requires us to take pre AP classes before most actual AP classes. We also can’t skip the basic class such as English 9 and 10 and Pre AP Geometry and Pre AP algebra 2. But at least we get like 0.5 bump on our gpa

You have to be able to drive by the end of your Sophomore year, possess a driver's license at the start of Junior year so you don't have to bug your parents to drive you to your numerous EC activities and attendance to advanced courses at local community colleges, etc. If you fail to achieve independent mobility by your Senior year, have your girlfriend/boyfriend drive you to your academic responsibilities and community services relevant to Common App and then give her/him a bunch of TLC afterwards. Lastly, have enough money to pay for the submission of your 26 college applications. 😂
I’m from the East Coast and took the ACT when I was in 7th grade as a part of the Duke TiP program. (I’m now a freshman in high school about to take my first AP exams 😅)

i don't think the specific classes you take matter as much. i think taking those kinds of classes would be more important for stem majors than humanities majors, but you should still try to challenge yourself when possible.

That was a mistake...sending your highest score would have been better in my opinion, but it worked out great anyways.
