As a university grad myself, I want to say make sure you enjoy your school experience, and don't feel like you need to be perfect all of the time. Effort is clearly important, but don't be too hard on yourself. High grades are nice, but enjoying what you are studying is most important.

that's because youtube is not a real representation of the actual acceptance rates. harvard and stanford have lower acceptance rates than MIT so more people have actually been accepted to MIT than to harvard and stanford.

one thing i would say is to write in a way that shows your true voice/identity. the creative style of writing college apps are completely different to formal school writing. write in a way that mirrors the way you think or how you see the world. AOs want to see those aspects of you and what type of person you are, so try to craft writing that shows those aspects
