Oh my goodness, I got so addicted to Napolitanke during my three months in Croatia this year. I couldn't stop eating them! 😂Great roundup and you've given me a lot to try once I'm back.❤️Great video!
I am from New Zealand, and due to many tragic circumstances when I was very young, all family ties were lost on my mothers side, and she passed away when I was 18 months old. My father was adopted in a closed adoption, he has passed on now, and I will never know his background as all of his adoptive family are passed on too. One thing I did always know was that my mothers side was “Yugoslavian” As I got older and discovered that “Yugoslavia” no longer exists under that name, I learned that my family was actually from Dalmatia. Recent years I began piecing together what I could of my family tree, and discovered that from my great grandfather, they are all from Drvenik - back at least 4 generations. I remember for many years, I would dream I was floating very quickly above the most clear blue ocean, with many small islands, and sand bars, that were visible beneath the super clear water. I’d never seen ocean so clear, and my brain had seemingly made up this place. But when I started looking into my history, I opened images of Dalmatia, and Drvenik, and realised that I was dreaming for many years, of the Adriatic Sea. I have such a calling “home” I feel like it’s been calling me. Sometimes I watch videos of areas around where my family would have lived, and I actually get teary. The mountains feel so familiar to me. I am 37 now, and I live in Australia. I have been trying to learn Croatian, although it feels very overwhelming, I am trying to pull genetic memory into myself, haha. Anyway, after all of this babbling, I just want to say that watching your videos is a super easy way for me to feel a little closer to a place that calls me, to call it home. I plan to live there one day, but I am scared of the culture differences, and not knowing the language. I will overcome that though. Thanks for your videos! I’ll be watching them all.
My mothers maiden name was Kostanić, and I found that there is local history regarding that name going back many hundreds of years in Drvenik, which I found so amazing. To feel a part of something, when I have never known anything.

Pouring water in wine was a madeleine cookie for me. That reaction in joining, fizziness, and sound of it, it took me back to my childhood. My late dad had his own vineyard, with wine cellar (klet). As a kid, I used to drink a little from the barrels when he wasn't looking. When I grew up and left home, I often came to visit him. We would go to the klet in the evening, sit on the terrace and sip in peace. Complete peace, no conversation. Maybe two sentences all evening. Just listened crickets chirping. I miss that very much.
The peace and traquility at your grandpa's vineyard cottage reminded me of the poem Crn-Bel (v trsju popeva, grozdje dozreva etc...) Even though kajkavština isn't my dialect that scene was a Madeline cookie for me, the trigger that sent me down the memory lane! The Zagorje zen :)))

Bajadera today is not so good anymore. I looked ingredients and find the possible reason, they started to use palm oil in production process. That oil smells awfully to me, like somebody left normal oil open on sun for days and it got oxidated and smelly. And that is noticeable in product and ruined the loving taste i remember when i was a kid (25 years ago). What is even worse food companies started to replace or mix palm oil in variety of products thus lowering their quality significantly. For that reason i stopped buying some of them. I don't like the smell of bad oil like burnt or rancid.

Badojara is truly yummy. I also received it from my croatian partner twice. Čokolino is love! My other personal favorites are: Jaffa cakes, the pink Jana water (collagen beauty), and Prsut! 😍
Love products from Croatia, especially the ABC Cream Cheese, it’s my family’s favourite, and definitely agree that it is far better than Philadelphia! European chocolate and ice cream are superior to American. Fortunately, here in Chicago, there are multiple stores that sell most Kras products (I know cause I buy them frequently), so I have Bajadera and Cokoladne Napolitanke all the time, along with Podravka soups, which I love. Unfortunately not all types are available in the US. Francuska juha is my favorite, but not available here.

Croatia has been a part of the Habsburg empire for almost 400 years so plenty of German loan words are still present in Crotian, especially in the northern regions around Zagreb. Like gemišt, šlafrok, šarafciger, badeancug, beštek, gablec (brunch, from German word for fork). In all honesty, when it comes to tools and car parts, I'm not sure I ever used Croatian word in my entire life. 😂

Stvarno dobar odabir.
Svako dobro tebi i tvojoj familiji...
Puno hvala Romeo! 🥰
We just arrived in Split and I’ve made my shopping list from your videos! I can’t wait to shop and try all the wonderful products ❤.
Badojara is truly yummy. I also received it from my croatian partner twice. Čokolino is love! My other personal favorites are: Jaffa cakes, the pink Jana water (collagen beauty), and Prsut! 😍
Small correction: Bajadera
Love products from Croatia, especially the ABC Cream Cheese, it’s my family’s favourite, and definitely agree that it is far better than Philadelphia! And Napolitanke is the best chocolates, perfect with coffee! So lucky we can find lots of these food products from Croatia in Canada! Another wonderful video, your videos are so sweet and heart warming and I always enjoy them so much! Also you have the sweetest children. ☺️
Napolitanke are great but far from the best. Loacker is the best napolitanka ever.
@@neboderkica Simple Loacker napolitanka is best but Kraš napolitanka covered in dark choco nobody can beat...
08:31 KING DOUBLE Baby!
I love the Batons as well as Tortica from Kraš 😍
Well, Tortica is basically a big, chocolate-covered Napolitanka :)
Super video i lijepo nas predstavljate na ovom kanalu👍🏼👌🏿Hvala!!!
This is so funny, I was watching this video and had a coffee and I was eating napolitanke. The same as you showed. They are delicious 😋.
I also really like the Melem products.
Bok👋🏻
when we wanna say something is beutifull we say "melem za oči" means melem for the eyes...its an old saying
@@bsod4144 we say something similar in the Netherlands. We say: oogstrelend.
I agree with you in everything you said! You are my favorite Canadian woman in Croatia. I want you for the president!!!
Sara bravooo 👏👍😍
Sve se slažem u potpunosti, baš lijepo prezentiraš Hrvatsku i naše proizvode 👌☺️
Veliki pozdrav tebi i tvojoj familiji 🥰❤️
I miss all these things so much! I'm Croatian but live in Canada most of my life.....but when ever I'm back home...those are all my Favorites!!!
🤗🤗🤗
European chocolate and ice cream are superior to American. Fortunately, here in Chicago, there are multiple stores that sell most Kras products (I know cause I buy them frequently), so I have Bajadera and Cokoladne Napolitanke all the time, along with Podravka soups, which I love. Unfortunately not all types are available in the US. Francuska juha is my favorite, but not available here.
Ho ho nice. Znači, infiltrirali smo američko tržište :) Btw, kakav je Chicago? Čujem da je dosta opasan.
@@Imperiusism Severni Chicago nije loso.
Great to see that you so love out products , one big hug for you and family
Once again, very nice! Live in Croatia for almost 15 years and I cannot get rid of famous Napolitanke 😊
Josip, there is something addictive in them... :) My guilty pleasure, too! Love them more than Bajaderas.
You are 100% on point with Napolitanke! I am yet to find cookies that taste better.
Amazing, Sarah. Thank you so much for advice. Cheers from Sibenik. Lucy and Jack
Za mene najdraži hrvatski proizvodi: 1.Melem, u kutijici i lipstik,
I absolutely 100% agree with every product you have mentioned in this video, all of them are amazing.
I agree about Jamnica! And if you want still water, it’s got to be Jana. I may be biased because my great grandmother came from Toplice Svetojanska.
Thank you for the video. I really like this types of videos because when i travel i love visiting supermarkets and drugstore to see new to me products and what locals are using. I'm planning on visiting Croatia postcovid. So, now I now what should I look for and buy. Thank you. As a mom we always in need for some healing balms and creams.
I like your channel, there is always something interesting! I’m glad you love ABC sir , I see that milk factory from my balcony, I live on a street 50 meters away from it! I also adore ABC sireve, they are produced with many more flavors, I personally love the one with pieces of ham in it the most!
You had me at Čokolino ❤️ besides napolitanke i love Domaćica kekse and pašteta.
Argeta? :)
@@Imperiusism ne, Podravka! :)
To see your videos is really energy boost.
Hvala na prekrasnom videu@Divni ste!
"gemišt" is actually a German word: "gemischt", which means "mixed". 😄 Funny for me as a German! 😂
But most Germans call this drink "Schorle".
Gemišt is mineral water mixed with wine
@@agnezabarutanski1963 I have to agree it is somehow funny that "gemis(ch)t" became a loanword - because I'm sure "mixed" does exist in Croatian.
@@henningbartels6245yes its “mješano” but it just doesn’t sound the same
@@Pollicina_db do you think "gemišt" sounds more fancy?
Do you have a video on Croatian desserts? I love the pastries there more than from any other country. They are light and not overly sweet.
We agree with you in almost all of them. But, Lino Lada ice cream on a stick is the best!
Thanks for the tip: Napolitanke dipped in blak coffee!
Your kids so cute 🥰 I love cheese spread, I will find out that kind when I come there in Croatia 😊
kakva vegeta......
Vegeta je must have u hrvatskoj kuhinji, bar za mene.
@@Imperiusism Bez vegete nema života.
@@bangi2757 Tko ne voli životinje, ne voli ni ljude. A Vegeta je puna konzervansa. Postoje razne začinske biljke koje svakoj hrani daju poseban okus. Probaj...
This is so weird, but nice, to see a person from another background admire all this ordenary things😆 it makes me so happy to see you love all this products, they are really good! Your croatian is really good, I wish you and your family all the best! Thank you for promoting Croatia so well!
OMG Cokolinoooo! I love it!
Thank you so much for the jewelry suggestion. Whenever I travel, I try to buy some small piece of jewelry that reflects the culture. I will be looking for these I have really been enjoying your channel.
Wanna try them all! Hahah We’ll definetly save this vid for when we get to Croacia 🤤 Thanks for the tips!

When you finally got to the wines,in the Napa valley, Grgich Hills Estate, absolutely one of the best Croatian cabernet that I have had.
I am now out of Napolitanke from my last trip! I love the ones you showed but my fave are the chocolate covered 😊
You totally nailed it...
Great Video...
What a lovely video and a sweet family 🥰🥰 I'm impressed by your pronunciation of Croatian words 😊😊
Fabulous
Thanks for sharing I will definitely try the ones I haven't yet
13:17 i like mineralna voda with bazga bazga is like something you put in water and it s best with mineralna voda bazga is liquid you put in water
Try Jamnica mineral water with orange Cedevita, also ppl beware Napolitanke are addictive it's easy to start binge eating them if you fall for the trap of seeing them as a snack.
🤣🤣🤣 So True!!!
Such a great video! I love most of the products to! Thank you on a great representation of Croatia 🥰
