Thank you for this fantastic virtual walking tour of Downtown Houston, Texas! As someone who has never been there, your video allowed me to experience the vibrant atmosphere and architectural beauty of the city from the comfort of my home. The skyline is absolutely stunning, and it's fascinating to see the mix of modern skyscrapers and historical landmarks. Your attention to detail and smooth camera work made me feel like I was strolling through the streets myself. I appreciate the informative commentary and interesting facts about the different locations. Truly a captivating tour that has sparked my interest in visiting Houston one day. Yeah I also noticed there is no street life. Where is everybody? I live in Pittsburgh and our downtown, though more dead than it used to be thanks to COVID, still has more street life than this, and Houston is many times larger! Was this shot on a weekend or something? This is what happens in cities that just have tons of suburban sprawl and massive interstate highways. It kills downtowns. Like seriously, the more I'm watching this, the less people I see.

On a weekday, and in this current summer heat which on some recent days has had a heat index (heat and humidity) of 109-113 degrees Fahrenheit, most people would be using the underground tunnel system which connects all of the major buildings in downtown Houston. It is air-conditioned, and has many shops and restaurants lining its corridors; it is accessible from inside of buildings, or from street level. There are videos of this several mile long tunnel system on You Tube. There is not much street activity on the weekends downtown since most weekly workers live outside of the downtown area and must daily commute by freeway or bus from their homes. I hope this answers some questions.

Lack of density and is WAY more spread out + the actual population of downtown Houston is 10-11 thousand people + like most American cities Houston is a giant suburb with a small central business district as its core with not much to actually do there. actual excursions and attractions are going to be located in specific neighborhoods/ districts/ or around the Great Houston area which is well over 10 thousand square miles of sprawl. Houston is also not a "touristy"city in the same way NYC or SF is. Most tourism is probably going to Galveston which is an hour away from Houston.

This is pretty normal/ typical for the vast majority of American cities and small towns even.
It's simply the urbanism/ urban fabric of American society.
Houston is basically a giant suburb with a small Central Business district as its downtown (core) and not many people actually live there (10-11 thousand) with not much to actually do there.
actual attractions are going to be spread about the area or in specific neighborhoods/ districts.
The area is also MUCH more spread out with low density sprawl for 10 thousand square miles.

Haven't been to downtown Houston in a long time. Too much disjointed artsy carp. No theme to it, just strewn about like someone had a field day at a Saturday morning garage sale. Not enough form and function, lacking conceptual tie-ins. Those overhead cables for the rail system are a distraction to a clean appearance. Bubble-gum spotted sidewalks give away lack of attention to detail and maintenance. Mismatched brick styles laid in the roads, dirty bricks.
