I moved to Houston 54 years ago. Yes, summer is hot, but the rest of the year is awesome. I can say that because I grew up in the Great Lakes area. I can't imagine living anywhere else, but Houston. It's an exciting place to be.

Houston is a completely different city compared to what it was back in the 80s. I wasn't born yet, but have done enough research on the topic to make that observation. During my lifetime, Hurricane Katrina in 2005 was a huge turning point for Houston.

Most of the people here will help each other in times of need and are decent, friendly people. We get a lot of bad press from sources who have no clue about how great the city and its people are. Though we have some significant hurdles to overcome since the beginning of the pandemic, it is still a great place with great people who will help their neighbors in times of need. H-Town pride!

Houston is one of the most underrated cities in America-the diversity is amazing; when I lived there I met people from Turkministan and Paraguay and all other countries that most people never really hear or know anything about. So random lol. Great food, excellent world class museums and parks; I also never met so many smart people in my life while living there-so many chemical engineers and doctors. Yeah, it's humid and the traffic sucks and there is no urban planning really, but it's lush and a really exciting and dynamic world class city.

Houston doesn't get the credit it deserves. its a very major global city but it gets overlooked by New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago because these cities are on the coasts and Houston is in the south. I assure you that Houston is definitely up there with those cities in food, culture, diversity, importance and the list goes on. when people visit Houston for the first they definitely surprised of the stature of the city from downtown to galleria area to the Texas Medical Center on to energy corridor. the city is massive. How can someone not recognize that it is a top tier city. I've been to Los Angeles, Houston and LA have a lot similarities. LA was very laid back in vibe but very Fast-paced at the same time just like in Houston.

If you’re planning to come here, I’d recommend you going to the Texas workforce commission. They have them throughout Texas and they can assist you with things related to jobs as well as short term/long term training programs you might be interested in. I hope that helps and good luck to you 🤗

I very much enjoyed this video. Very upbeat and positive. I relocated to Houston in 1981 from the northeast part of the USA. I have seen major changes in infrastructure and attitudes here over the years. When I moved here, Houston was thought of as kind of a back-water, dirty gas & oil town. But from where I was originally from, Houston was and is a major upgrade. It still has a ways to go, but it is going in the right direction.

I'm originally from Ohio but moved to Houston when I was a child. I've been here 42 years, great city, great vibe! I've only experienced 3 hurricanes since 1980. We also don't get the tornadoes like the Dallas/panhandle part of the state does. Flooding is the main concern, if you are contemplating relocating, make sure you have a Realtor who knows the area well so they can guide you with the FEMA flood zone areas. If a house is gorgeous but a lower than expected asking price, most likely was flooded previously. Regarding the humidity/heat, you get used to it. The bonus to high humidity, it keeps you looking younger longer, keeps your skin moist and not dried out, I've rarely used facial moisturizers over the years. My a/c system has a humidity control, so no stickiness indoors. I don't do many outdoor activities in June-August unless it involves water to stay cool or in the evening hours.
