Another set I'll never touch unless it happens to be in a subscription box. Which is also doubtful because I get cheap sub boxes. Not too long ago it was around 100 for a hobby box of Topps Finest. Again pre-COOF times.
Chris here - it's sad how collectors are getting priced out of product. It makes no sense. Topps chrome Holliday Gold refractors have sold for around $500 on ebay. That may not even cover the cost of a Hobby jumbo Box! Fanatics needs to return to reality before they lose people for good.
Fanatics has absolutely ruined the hobby for collectors. For gamblers, breakers and sneaker bois, Fanatics has been great. I bought a case of 2024 Topps Chrome to rip. I pulled some great cards but lost $2000. I'm done buying boxes/cases and will now just focus on my two PC players. Oh well. We all have to adjust.
I really don't get the parallels at all...seems like green refractors are /75 for common, /35 for uncommon and /25 for rare. It's so confusing. Ultimately that will decrease the collectabilty of the product.
There’s a crazy amount of over printing going on now. They’ve created a far bigger bubble than the wax era and when it pops a lot of modern collectors are going to lose their shirts.
chris here - I can't argue this. Sooooo many parallels and junk autos. If Fanatics fails to grow the hobby like they want, landfills are going to be full of Aqua Ray refractorts.
My two cents is that I absolutely love products that do the tier system RIGHT. court kings does it right. 1. You need to have each tier be very unique and easily identified, especially at first glance before learning the set. 2. Each tier can’t have every parallel they should only be on the rare tier or have it so the most common parallels go with the common and the most rare parallels go with the rare. After seeing the product Topps failed miserably at both of these. The tiers all look identical and they all have the same 900 parallels. So this product is a major swing and a miss however it has the potential to be awesome. Again I love Court Kings for my basketball PC and to stick with panini examples i despise Select more than any product ever made (only a slight hyperbole)

Cactus Jack will only ever be a WWE wrestler to me. The design is a little busy for me, but don't hate it. Seems like Topps Finest and Finest Flashbacks merged this year. I don't mind the tiers, but agree with the Super Fractors. It would be cool if they made the RC's only the rare level though. Would maybe be some staying power with it then.
You guys have probably already seen this but the #d refractors are serial numbered differently depending on what level they are so not all golds are out of /50 not all reds /5 etc.

Travis Scott release is a fanatics fest exclusive. 1000 boxes made. Lottery type system in order to buy. If you get picked you have opportunity to buy a box. Same with the topps chrome hobby exclusive boxes with the skyline parallels.

Not sure how I feel about the tiers, but it makes more sense for this than for Big League, which they also tiered. I don’t care about big league and I don’t rip it, but they essentially short printed rookies in the various tiers and it’s supposed to be a product for kids. Dumb.

I will not be touching this product as a rip... and singles, I dunno - looks like last year's Masterpieces insert from Bowman's Best... Positive - the new configuration is nice.
If they can keep it clean like the 1999/2000 Topps Gold Label with the Class 1,2,3 that could be promising. Given where things are heading, I doubt it will be this simple and will make completing a set pretty much impossible. The design isn’t bad; if there is a McCutchen or Alonso to be had I may pick up singles later (After the inevitable price drop) on the secondary market. As always, a great video 👍👍
Topps Finest.... interesting.... but at $300.... well no rips for me... but I might look for a few refractor singles for my PC. Remember Gold Label had a similar 3 tier system for all the checklist? I really liked having some of those in my collection. I'm on the line about the design... It's so busy. I loved some older years of Topps Finest.... we will see if this grows on people.

I love the analogy to the Kmart, ToysRUs, KayBee sets from the 80s. With them doing tiers in Finest, I wonder if this means they will not be doing Topps Gold Label this year (since that set uses tiers, called classes). My personal opinion is the Finest set is squeezed by other and honestly better sets (both more expensive and lower price options). This used to be the highest end product in the 90s, but now its a meh mid-tier product that doesn't have a niche anymore. FYI, they no longer have a mini boxes, and the parallels have different numbering between tiers (which I hate).

Huge negative on Finest is the auto checklists. Absolutely massive. Big increase from the past year or two and a ridiculous increase from 8 years ago. Also. There’s no mini boxes this year in finest.
Topps finest is a no for me, don’t like the look of the cards, too pricey. Topps Chrome Basketball, is also a no, can’t get behind the non licensed cards.
I agree. I have a hard time buying Donruss baseball since they're unlicensed as well. Yeah the price is better than Topps but I just don't like blank jerseys and hats

And it does seem like a money grab, I think they should’ve just waited until they got the license to release a product.

I agree. I have a hard time buying Donruss baseball since they're unlicensed as well. Yeah the price is better than Topps but I just don't like blank jerseys and hats

Its 249 on topps i pre-ordered 4 and they are live at 9am so best price is on their website, i personally liked the color splashi look which is what sold me

As for me, the unlicensed cards are a hard pass. And it does seem like a money grab, I think they should’ve just waited until they got the license to release a product.
In this video I l definitively say how much I hate what they are doing with one of my favorite sets in Topps Finest. We can hate some things and like other things they do.
