I need much more of what Dan has. As much as I try, I can't keep those things from bothering me. It doesn't deter me from hunting, but it does put me in a pissy mood, lol. Other hunters bother me, but not NEARLY as much as ATV joy riders. Great video, Dan!
So glad Dan posts these videos.....I thought the pheasant hunter was just ignoring the "Howdy".....just to be an a-hole.....but he wasn't. I will handle my next bump exactly the same way.....If they turn into an asshole after hearing a howdy, then it's on them. The woods is a shared resource........don't crawl into a hole.
Dan you're a tough SOB for hunting in that weather ALOT OF RESPECT. For those of hunters watching Wisconsin is seriously cold right now even walking to your mailbox you get cold. Very few hunters would hunt this weather.

I’ve had my fair share of trials and tribulations this year too. I first learn from my mishaps to not set myself up for that again, but then I keep grinding. I do carry my mistakes with me for a while, but that’s just how my brain works. You have some great content and a lot of great points that I continue to learn from you, whether I’m in camp with you or not. Keep it up and best of luck to you 🙏🏼😊
Ohhhh, it bothers me but I persevere as well. The purple berries in that "pheasant" spot are dynamite late season and shed hunting. The best of luck to you, and Merry Christmas!

Smart move on the spacing of your steps ! I had 2 permanent stands and one hanger with climbing sticks i'd use . Was going to my 2 man ladder stand on a morning we were in the negatives here in Indiana . I had so many layers on that i struggled to get up the ladder ! The steps were usually perfect , even being 5'8" . I usually only had my jeans and underwear on under my coveralls . (Carhartt that are warm as hell ! Usually had to unzip the front to keep from sweating on my walk in.) Well i had on underwear , running pants , my Army longjohns and lined jeans . Then my coveralls ... could barely bend my knees so , i had to lean sideways and lift my leg 😂😂
Honestly, Dan…. You make me feel like we are all on a team. The Beast team! And you’re the head coach! And the motivational speech you just gave throughout this video is exactly what I needed.
Truth be told I have had many similar circumstances happen to me this season. In my youth I would get frustrated. But now I just keep rolling with the punches because of talks like this!

Great message. It applies to all aspects of life too. One thing I didn’t understand is why would you not like to kill a buck that was pushed to you? On highly pressured land, that would seem the play to make.
Nothing against it... Just for me I like the one on one battle of wits and figuring out the spot I need to be to outsmart him.

Wow, Dan, I am so glad to have found your channel! Thank you for your HONEST content! “Almost and not quite” kinda describes most of my bow hunting career 😢 but I love the woods; I love to deer hunt; I love venison… so I keep at it.
Age and diminished eyesight got me off the recurve and on the xbow and rifle. I still hunt like an archer tho, always tryin to get close!

Good video. I'd have to go hard after the trespassers that are dumping on the property and all. If you've already talked to them and they are still doing it I would have to get the warden and or police involved.
Obviously it can be very disheartening in bublic grounds with all the activities and disturbances but also rewarding when you can capitalize on a biggen.
Trespassers of sorts, small game hunters and/or someone continuously target shooting until sunset, seem to stack up between Christmas and New Year. For some reason these occurances tend to prevelent in northern, sportsman friendly states like WI, MI, PA, NY etc.
Tough season for you Dan, that’s for sure. Learning from your mistakes and owning up to what goes wrong is the way it should be. It doesn’t take much to acknowledge and fix what goes wrong. Kudos on showing what could easily not make the videos.

Good video Dan, nice to see you using Mavens, got mine about 5 yeas ago and compared with swaro side by side, NOT bad for 1/3 the price! how come you don't line Dave's farm up with cell cameras to get that trespasser and get a restraining order on him. That was unsettling he went right under your good stand and the doing donuts around you vehicle. makes me think he's an anti. just screwing with you. The message at the end shows you're a true sportsman and ambassador of the sporting spirit. The land owner had the trespasser get served a trespass warning by the sheriff, Next time he gets cited, And I have to think you are correct that the hunter at the end had to see and hear me,
Merry Christmas, Great show Dan. I live in Phillips Wisconsin. Frustrated with grouse hunter's all season. But now I know where they generally go. Had 3 nice bucks on camera all season long. Mostly nocturnal. Persistance and confidence will be the key for January. Thanks for all the knowledge.

Even with the holiday hunt in Wisconsin I'm glad I can still bow hunt in the counties that are not participating , December is a great time to be in the woods !!!

Sucks sharing public land with other types of hunters. The area I hunt I avoid the duck pond areas in the morning even though I’ve seen big sign around them just because I know I’ll be in a tree then 20 minutes before legal shooting light there will be headlamps and laughing and coughing
put up a cable at the entrance and a cell camera to get a picture of the trespasser

I've had small game hunters screw up my hunts more times than I'd like to remember. It Sucks especially when you have limited time to hunt.

I've had numerous hunts ruined by those damn bird hunters. That part hit home for me. One time I started coyote howling to them & they gathered the dogs quickly and left. 😂

I’ve taken a few good deer over the years that pheasant hunter had jumped and put them on their feet. I’m a bird hunter too so I understand them being there. I’ve had them walk right under my tree just as that guy did and had deer come on me within a 37:49 few minutes of them doing so. I personally would have stayed. You just never no !! Keep at it Dan I enjoy your channel !! 👍

Yep, very frustrating to say the least! The public lands I've been hunting are now getting overrun with Mnt bikers! They are like a plague! Once the trails are in, then come all the rest! Hikers, joggers, and the dog walkers are the worst! People are moving here to the Black Hills in droves ever since covid!
I use to be able to draw a hills rifle buck tag every other year, and now it's about 3-4 years. Back in the 90's I remember getting one at hardware store. Archery numbers have been increasing yearly as well, how long before that goes to a drawing?
Even with all the increasing human pressure, I killed my two biggest archery bucks the last two seasons, but just like Dan said, you gotta stick with it til the end! I've had tag soup more times than tagged a mature buck, but then I'm very picky.
