You did a great job on this video. can you do simular videos from this show like shallow duet , beste zanger , lady gaga, There are so many songs to pick from .
I love both, but still prefer Disturbed's David Draimen's version better. Who knew a metal singer's voice could be so beautiful and haunting? And I love when he uses his metal voice and then finishes so smoothly! Great job! Love it!
Yeah David did it seated for Conan because he was too sick to stand or walk by himself. Henk sounds like he's trying to go just a bit too deep for his voice. It's not as soft as David's on the lows. Even if David is able to turn the the ruggedness up... it hits softer and much more natural than Henks sound.
@@lindaammons6432 Better? No, not true. Henk also sang it so very easily, also sitting down and has also a great voice control. It's just, whose voice speaks more to you, touches your heart a bit more. For me., it's definitely David. But David is not a 'better' singer than Henk is. Both a great singers, both are schooled and we definitely can hear that in both voices.
Nice job! I don't know Henk Poort or what kind of music he usually sings. David Dramain usuallly sings heavy metal, so for him to sing this song with all the tenderness, range, power, distortion, emotion, etc is pretty incredible.
Draiman's version is the best among them all. Not Du Tuit's nor Poortman's nor other claimers. Even Paul Simon, the songwriter and orig singer of TSOS admitted that Disturbed rendered the best version and expressed gratitude and pride for them.
Wonderful vocal comparison.. It truly shows how metal, classical, and opera have so much in common. Thank you so much for the time you spent making this side by side comparison. Its absolutely a wonderful way of expressing how the genres coincide.
Disturbed version is superb! When I first heard it five or six years ago, couldn't believe it! Not many cover versions are better than original , but he owns it. Such a powerful voice!
Henk Poort was good but No one sings it like Disturbed. I'm sorry, he brings tears to my eyes. He sings, he is so effortless!!! What a great voice. I'll take Disturbed over anyone.
No. Draiman's version was far better. His voice was solid, heavy but smooth on the lower octave. The voice quality did not change on the higher octave but became more powerful. Amazing. As it built up towards the end, he deliberately added raspiness to his voice and climaxed to the growl. And it was rendered so beautifully. Poort's voice was velvety but faltering, must be the age catching up with him. The vibrato worked for him on the lower octave but it got annoying in the higher octave. It took the attention away from his singing. He tried so hard with that raspy sound and with the high notes. Poortman's version is still ok but I wouldn't listen to him twice. I reserve all my listening to Draiman's take.
I absolutely love them both. They are both amazing and what gifted voices. Love the song, love both their interpretation. Great job putting this duo together
First off Disturbed has all the bells and whistles working in their favor. Awesome song! My first time hearing Henk Poort and yes he hit's it out of the ball park as well. I think they both put their heart and soul into this and how can you judge? Enjoy both! You do have to admit though, Disturbed covered Simon and Garfunkel, Henk Covered Disturbed.
I agree with you that Henk covered Disturbed. The voice change up at the same point with Henk trying to sound gravely, which the song sort of lends itself to, is a sign he listened to the Disturbed version before he tried it. Henk did a great job, and I love rock opera, but I'll still go with David Draimen, all the way.
But Poort fell short. Draiman's version is the best. Paul Simon even admitted that Disturbed rendered it better than they and among all who covered his song, was the best he has heard.
This comment from someone below says it all: David did a complete remake of a masterpiece and crushed it. Henk did a cover of David crushing it. David for the win.
Totally agree with Rosannasfriend. Great comparison that I only just discovered. As someone who listened to, and loved, the original by S&G on a 45, Disturbed's David Draimen's version is the best cover to date and, most importantly, of its time. Its what we needed, when we needed it. It always amazes me how good some heavy metal singers really are! Henk's version would have been a standout except for DDDs. They should do a duet.
Distorted gets RAW & VISCERAL … grabs me by the brain, heart, guts & ovaries (!!) He delivers a feast to be eaten with your hands and no table manners required .. Henk is a MASTER .. absolutely superb & MAGNIFICENT He delivers a gourmet meal to savour every mouthful - with some 'civilised' decorum! Life requires both.
I think both have there place, both were frickin excellent. The older singer definitely held his own against David. That takes some doing, congratulations to both singers, like I said "FRICKIN EXCELLENT"
Henk Poort is great.. both versions are great in their OWN way. Henk Poort is a bariton opera singer... for him this was a Total different style of singing and he did it!!! Great job!!
Obviously David does the destortion better because he's been doing it for years, whereas Henk literally had days to learn, but seeing them side by side, Henk takes it for me overall!
Both versions are great. What I'm missing is the 2nd voice as is in the original. Means there is still space for the guys to make the covers even better ;) When I first heard the cover from Disturbed, it was on our rock radio, and I was like "Who the heck dares to try to make a cover of this song?"... 2 minutes after I was nailed to my chair, singing along and was like "WOW!!! WOW!!!" Disturbed totally nailed it. And Henk Poort as well Xcuse me, but I really love this song ;)
next together like that, while both versions are great... the one and only Uncle Henk wins this for me, his voice suites the song perfectly for me, not to mention his diction and clarity adding a lot tot he story telling of this song. Thnx Germain :D

Henk Poort's version is interesting and nice in some ways but the spirit of the song, of the lyrics, are better expressed with a more rugged style of singing, the style Disturbed nailed it.
Hank did a great job for what it was, but everyone knows that Disturbed crushed this song with that power voice that Poort just could not pull off. Disturb already made it epic. No disrespect on Poort.
@@eugeneveen38 Not true. No auto tune needed for David. I have watched this video many many times and that has been brought up once and struck down by those who know what they're talking about. Like your guy I don't care I just think David's voice is much better!
I adore Henk. I knew of him before I started fangirling Beste Zangers because Floor was on it. But I have to give the prize to David Draiman on this one. They both killed it. But something about David's delivery got me a teensy bit more.
Henk's voice was faltering both in the low and high octave of the song. His vibrato style was annoying and tried so hard to copy David's growl but still fall short. Also his high notes were forced.
I just watched a video tonight (Nov. 17, 2021) that detailed how the Disturbed version on TV was an auto-tune version of the song. The other singer is obviously singing live without the auto-tune effect and English is not his first language. There are links in which the Disturbed lead singer does a duet with Myles Kennedy that is live and not auto-tuned. It sounds even better than the TV version.
When Disturbed went into the studio, David would not touch the song, because it’s Simon and Garfunkel. You don’t want to eff up, a classic and if he did f*** it up, he knew, he would grasp the ire, of so many people and it would haunt him, for the rest of his career. So, he was understandably cautious, in his approach. But, the fact that Henk was sitting down and singing, was impressive! I’m a trained singer and I need to stand! So hats off to him!

Tank Dempsey sorry to break your heart, but you can clearly hear Autotune on 3:52, when he sings “songs”. Now, as far as I now, it was the Tv show production who decided to add the Autotune in that part, not the band, since David had a cold and a sore throat that prevented him from reaching that high note on his total power
The Conan Show added autotune without David knowing. He was livulid when he found out. Apparently this is something the show does automatically without telling the performers.
@@monsermingch4106 You can clearly know that they were not informed that autotune was going to be added and the band was livid when they found out. David does a much better job here. The old man is laughable when he's trying to use distortion.
Nothing is stolen sweetheart. David clearly owns this. I am obviously stuck in a clearly biased post here as you all were here for Hank anyway. So obvious

RIGHT ANSWER you win 10 Internets
Distorted gets RAW & VISCERAL … grabs me by the brain, heart, guts & ovaries (!!)
He delivers a feast to be eaten with your hands and no table manners required ..
Henk is a MASTER .. absolutely superb & MAGNIFICENT
He delivers a gourmet meal to savour every mouthful - with some 'civilised' decorum!
Life requires both.
Thank you for your time doing this. EXCELLENT!
David Draiman...wow!!! ❤
goosebump.... love it so much. Greeting from South-Sumatera Indonesia.
Great job!!
WOW WOW WOW! Both amazing
Obviously David does the destortion better because he's been doing it for years, whereas Henk literally had days to learn, but seeing them side by side, Henk takes it for me overall!
side by side, i hear that the destortion part is stronger from David, but for me he is more screaming, while Henk keeps singing during that part
Days? Make that 2 hours.
@@ArumesYT Thats correct! 2 Houres!
WOW!!!"
Disturbed totally nailed it. And Henk Poort as well
Xcuse me, but I really love this song ;)
A tough call. I’ve always LOVED the Disturbed version but the other one sounded amazing too.😊😊😊
Aún con una gripe tremenda David estuvo genial!!
next together like that, while both versions are great... the one and only Uncle Henk wins this for me, his voice suites the song perfectly for me, not to mention his diction and clarity adding a lot tot he story telling of this song.
Thnx Germain :D
I am definitely partial to the Henk Poort version. He just really delivers it powerfully. Rocks you to the core!!
Finally someone admits biased here. Everyone is biased here cause they're all here cause of hank
@@metalmellie4371 Draiman's version was far better. His voice was solid, heavy and smooth on the lower octave.
He tried so hard with that raspy sound and with the high notes but sounded unnatural.
Poortman's version is still ok but I wouldn't listen to him twice. I reserve all my listening to Draiman's take.
I love Jesus, too.
This is such a brilliant song by Paul Simon. It's really amazing to hear all the different interpretations on TH-cam. I won't state a favorite because I could hear one I like better tomorrow. I will say I'm very impressed by Disturbed's version. I had no idea metal singers could sing!
Well there is Floor Jansen. I think she is a Valkyrie or something.
Absolutely amazing
I honestly always loved Disturbeds version of this song. But Henk is absolutely killing it. He owns the song now
I like both versions but Henk's voice is warmer, velvety smooth, with a perfect controllable vibrato and it's technically flawless !!! So I'll definitely say Henk's version talks straight into my heart !!!
And yet it did nothing for me. David version a haunted me for months. David wins
@@Rosannasfriend I respect your opinion ! As I said at the biginning of my comment, I like both versions !! When I first heard the song from Disturbed, I liked it so much, that I played it every day for months, both official video and the live one ! However as a professional musician, I've made that comment based on what I've heard and the emotions I've felt ! I wasn't looking for a winner or a loser !! 🤘🤟
@@Rosannasfriend Same here, I wouldn't listen twice to Henk. His vibrato was annoying and he pushed his high notes as if pooping and tried so hard with the raspiness but sounded unnatural.
Really nice job Germain, putting them together like this. it's hard to say wich is my favourite, Henk wins on smoothness and his operatic sound. but i also love draiman's version, for the power and intensity he puts into it i would say it's a draw for me
Both amazing and stunning!
Henk Poort's version is interesting and nice in some ways but the spirit of the song, of the lyrics, are better expressed with a more rugged style of singing, the style Disturbed nailed it.
I like his voice, a gift from God to be able to sing so that others are touched in the soul.
They both are great singers but just imagine if Wolf Winters of the voice sang this song.. Than it will be just marvellous 👏
Hank did a great job for what it was, but everyone knows that Disturbed crushed this song with that power voice that Poort just could not pull off. Disturb already made it epic. No disrespect on Poort.
I have yet to hear a version that I haven’t liked great job
Both are beautiful versions!
I do like David a bunch. What a beautiful voice.
Sorry but David nailed it. Deeper, stronger, crisper voice🙏✌️
David's using an auto-tune. Henk didn't use that.
@@eugeneveen38 Not true. No auto tune needed for David. I have watched this video many many times and that has been brought up once and struck down by those who know what they're talking about. Like your guy I don't care I just think David's voice is much better!
Definitely autotune
I adore Henk. I knew of him before I started fangirling Beste Zangers because Floor was on it. But I have to give the prize to David Draiman on this one. They both killed it. But something about David's delivery got me a teensy bit more.
Disturbed no brainer incredible ❤️🇬🇧
Both are beautiful!
DAVID Draiman and FLOOR Jansen doing PHANTOM of the OPERA. 💞💞💞
Now that is something I would LOVE to hear, LIVE preferably 😘😍😍😍😍😍
No. Floor with Henk yes. Floor with Marko YES!
David Draiman is no singer , he needs autotune to make it work.
The difference: Henk can sing with enough force that everyone can hear him without a microphone.
I disagree here.... Henk had a bad support in low parts, David not. Middle and hi not very good either. Kudos to David.
Henk's voice was faltering both in the low and high octave of the song. His vibrato style was annoying and tried so hard to copy David's growl but still fall short. Also his high notes were forced.
Blown away!!!!!!
David was very upset that auto tuned was used. He does not like auto tune. His voice does not need it.
Disturbed all the way 👏👏🥰
I like all 3 of them meaning the song is magic
I love them both!
It is masterpiece
I bow my head !!!
ПРЕКРАСНО !!!!!!
I wish they could sing this song together on stage. Would be A great life performance of 2 great singers
after listening to both of them, we are the winners
Главное что от сердца , обалдеть , да раньше мы молоды были НО И ЛЮБИМ КАК ПРЕЖДЕ !!!!!!!
Draiman's version was far better. His voice was solid, heavy and smooth on the lower octave. The voice quality did not change on the higher octave but became more powerful. Amazing. As it built up towards the end, he deliberately added raspiness to his voice and climaxed to the growl. And it was rendered so beautifully.

Poortman's version is still ok but I wouldn't listen to him twice. I reserve all my listening to Draiman's take.
BTW, David was singing seated here bec he had the flu and he was weak. Check out his full live performance at the CONAN Show.
Ik dacht vooraf dat gaat Henk niet redden tegen DE Disturbed mannen, maar ik heb Henk onderschat hier. En even het besef van leeftijd ook.
Henk, by plenty and no auto-tune.
I was like huh, Disturbed used auto-tune? But yeah, I did hear it.
@@EyesOfGehenna Say that Disturbed have used autotune is a blasphemy
All versions are excellent. But Ome Henk is the definitive version for me.
Henk poort made this song his own! He stole it fair ❤️👌👌
Nothing is stolen sweetheart. David clearly owns this. I am obviously stuck in a clearly biased post here as you all were here for Hank anyway. So obvious
Paul Simon himself said that the song is basically David's now. He didn't steal a damn thing sweetheart 🤣
Damn now I hear disturbeds version back, Henk Owns It 😎Henk has a Band and the other guy has an Orchestra
Gesucht und Gefunden!
...thank you!
Geräuchvoll....im klang des Schweigens!
