  • If the engine oil cap looks milky and let's say the head gasket is not blown, oil and coolant are not mixing and the car is not overheating then the problem is something else. Stay tune to find out what the problem is. The issue can be caused by many things such as sludge and failed pcv valve.

If the reason is from the blowby then the oil consistency will be the same everywhere in the engine, obviously due to oil circulation. Since the oil is okay, but the pcv is stuck, it suggests that the reason is stuck open pcv valve and the vapor comes from the intake with the air. Any vapor that gets in the cylinder will come out with the exhaust. However some vapor will enter the crankcase via the stuck open pcv valve. The vapor will mix with some oil/blowby and when the engine start to cool it will condence on the bottom side of valve cover and the oil cap, the top areas that cool first.
This is my explanation, and Allah knows best.

PCV valve isn’t a maintenance item for GM but it is for me. I change mine every 30,000 miles (or 6th oil change). The valve is $9.00, cheap insurance as a new engine is $4,000.00 and up.

I'd found what looked like Cheese-Whiz in my oil cap. Turned out the gasket on my oil cap was shot and was ducking in moisture. Great work sir.

I have a 2015 chevy cruze LS with the 1.8 liter engine. The oil was once milky white but not the dip stick. I tried a block tester kit from Harbor frieghts, and the results i got is more than sure a blown head gasket. Just want your opinion

If you don’t run an oil catch can and idle your car a lot during the winter you get a lot of blow by under the cap.

im wondering if on a little tk barina this could be a problem.
oil, water and temps seem fine (cap apparently was a little milky),
But the exaust manifold it gets smokey hot (starting from where top of catylic bolts on which they swapped out)
i Thought it may have something to do with clogged exhaust back pressure (so removed 2 sensor (pre/post cat )Thought it worked, but then put them back in and it didn't smoke while i was testing it. . .
but apparently she smoke up again 🤔

I pulled the valve covers on my l37 3800. It had alot of milk under the valve covers but no where else in the engine. Thermostat was not letting engine heat up enough. I'm also doing the PCV. Hope this fixes it.

My V6 3.5L Toyota with just 20K miles on it is FULL of oil mixed with something. I mean the "oil" is filled so much it's filling up the valve area as I understand it. The coolant isn't low. I don't believe condensation can't form a gallon or two of water in your oil and I don't know what it is or where it's coming from. I just had the oil changed 500 miles ago at the dealer. I'll find out what it is when I get it towed to the dealer in a few days. It was running smoothly as silk the same day I discovered this problem. I obviously don't want to even start the engine like this again. I'm already afraid there is cylinder wall damage... But no signs of it as far as burning oil out the tailpipes.

    • @mulljacob
      @mulljacob 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@rodv.4726 I forget the details but yea, they did me right. It's still as smooth and peppy as ever. I keep the oil changed every 6months or 5k miles, whichever occurs first. Those 8-speed transmissions are a little slow downshifting, but it's consistent so I think it's normal and something I've gotten used to.

Hey I was wondering the old oil has none of that in it but inside the valve cover you could see it and the cap but when I took out my pvc valve and shook it it it was kind of full of that moisture and water but I shook it and it rattled a little bit itI blew it out cleaned it and cranked up the car and it's got good suction on it and it works now I wonder if that could have been the problem or if it's something else because the PVC valve did rattle

The engine isn’t having enough time to heat up hot. Take it fir a good long ride. You maybe not driving long enough to heat up the engine and burn off the moisture in the engine. You will get a light brown milky hunk inside the oil cap. Moisture builds up and causes this.

Is there an opportunity for the radiator reservoir cap to pop off..?
I'm not seeing any discoloration, no lost fluids, and not overheating.
I did add recently an oil catch can to my car. My car has an aftermarket supercharger installed which wouldn't allow for the pcv hose to reconnect. So we just added the oil catch can. We tapped it into the air intake and pcv to the can. I am seeing a bit of oil in the can as well. Not a lot, but some.
Would this indicate that my pcv is operating??
    You thoughts are appreciated.
    Thanks.
