Which Exhaust System is Best for the Toyota Tacoma!?

  • 👋 In todays video I wanted to discuss the best exhaust system for the third generation Toyota Tacoma! I have had a total of five systems and some have been similar and others have been completely different! An exhaust system is of course a preference for how you want your vehicle to sound!
The stock exhaust system on the tacoma is fine but of course not my style. If that's what you like though, it's of course quiet and you can't really hear it!
For the aftermarket systems I've had, lets start with the AFE! This was virtually identical to the factory system in terms of placement and piping. I was able to get a black exhaust tip to match the rest of my truck, which is the main reason I bought that! It had a really good sound and fit fell on my truck for the time being!
After I ripped that exhaust off, I tried out the MBRP which was in a sense a high clearance system. This system was extremely short and honestly was loud and raspy. It was noticeably louder than any system I have had, but it was also the cheapest! So if you want something loud and you don't want to spend a lot, it's a good option for that.
Next up was the Magnaflow and this was their first high clearance system system that also had sound adjustments to it. I really liked this system and for the money, it was a good kit! My only complaint would be the sound differences weren't that noticeable, but you could tell it was quieter at highway speeds, but slightly.
Last up is the current system from AWE. The only true dual exhaust system and honestly my favorite so far! It has a great tone and is perfect for the driving I do with my Tacoma. It also has the ability to go from a high clearance, to installing the tailpipe and tips, so you can show off the tips during the week and keep them protected for the trails on the weekends!
What do you think is the best sounding exhaust for the Tacoma!?

Im running a urd catless y pipe with a vibrant ultra quiet before the catback and for the muffler I have a vibrant oval 1102. It's the perfect loudness and growl without any rasp. If you look at specs you will see some systems fit either the 3.5 V6 or the 2.7 four cylinder from the cat back. Some companies have not tested their system on a 2.7 so they do not list the 2.7 engine but any cat back should fit, now the thing you have to be concerned with is not buying to big of a pipe. I would stick with a 2.5 inch system and avoid the 3 inch systems for the 2.7 because the 3 inch is to big and you will lose to much velosity in the exhaust system. You are looking for velosity to help remove more of the spent exhaust gases from the cylinders. Borla is one of the few exhaust companies that fully understands this.

The MBRP is aluminized steel, so it won’t last as long as 409 or 304 stainless steel.

304 stainless steel is the best.

I just bought a used '01 it has a cold air intake and an aftermarket catback which makes no sense it can take in more air but can't get rid of it any quicker because of the factory cat.
