Great vid. I used to own mk2 transits (showing my age). They're even worse than Sprinters for rust. Did exactly this on my rust spots, it never came back.

KuRust is from the seventies, and ordinary red rustproofing paint and WaxOyl and pitch.
Many happy hours spent under a vehicle killing rust and pitching it up

@@BigVanSmallWorld Some one once asked me for a jump start from that vehicle and asked where to put the negative clamp because the batter terminal was covered or something. There was nowhere to put it.

A quick tip - when you’ve finished using spray paint, hold the can upside down and give it a quick squirt as it clears the nozzle out.
Like your idea of peel edge of tape slightly when painting the top coat to soften the edge of the paint.

Great Job of blending the paint. Yeah no body wants rusty holes in their van. I guess when we get a nice day I will have to crawl around dobby checking. A friend on another page with the same Ford transit like mine had some door issues and the sensors were dirty on her slider. I will have to check and clean mine. Happy Trails mate!

I have from inside to outside rust along bottom of sides of my (2008} chevy express. I am not sure what if anything I should attempt myself. But, I love your video, very nicely done. Take care.

On our crafter they had painted behind those plastic clips, good thing you fixed everything and resealed those clips in place with sealant :)
WE had to fix our rust, it wasn;t the best as ours was in a more obvious area and spray painting is a technique we are yet to master, but no matter :D Easy fix, should hold it firm and good
Well done for having a go the more you do it the better you will get 👍🤓👍
Just try painting a few non crucial items first. 8-12" away, keep moving, each time you move before pressing the nozzle, release before you stop moving. On bigger areas, we'll spaced horizontal lines, top with well spaced vertical. Light dust, then it dries off quick. Repeat. If you follow these simple rules, you will soon learn what will make it run. The finnish is so good you'll be proud of your work.

Wish I knew that tool when I did mine last year I broke ever clip lucky I bought replacement clips in case :) I was surprised that mine was all rust free when I took them off ;) really handy to see this tho in case I do see any rust areas :) 💪

The thing with rust is, it doesn't matter how bad your painting is what ever Finnish you end up with it will be better than having rust. The amount of people I know who have just scrapped perfectly good vehicles because they've started to rust, because it would either 'cost too much' or 'would look crap' is rediculous, surely it would be better to just sand it back and just use any old paint on top, if it looks crap, who cares? you've just gained a couple of years out of it. That being said, you've done a cracking job👍, as always.

Hello Mel, I've done. Few of these yesterday. But today I fitted my two side windows. The same you bought. Quick question, do yours sit a few mills off the panel? Maybe just one and a bit??
Just a little that’s the sealer that’s holding it back I didn’t use the edging strip so the glassworks be more flush 👍🤓👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld there are those drain vents too. I've drilled a few holes in the roof but two big holes in the side was a stressful. I watched your video over and over. They seem to sit a little bit out but the holes were big enough. As I say the drain vents hold it out a bit. I've ordered some external black sealant to go around the windows. For my piece of mind I guess. Thanks for the videos mate.
You could get some waxoyl to spray on the inside of the door
Fold the masking tape back on itself along the swage line that way it’ll help polishing back to the line as it’ll be dusty just above the line rather than a thick edge

@@BigVanSmallWorld ah okay, a girl on a van life forum had said she sanded a floor down to get rid of rust and was just gonna paint over it with hammerite, I linked your video to her post but that got me thinking, red oxide or the kurust, she's opted for kurust before she paints it now!

Были холода до минус 25))) ( поставил на авто)) всё нормально завёл когда потеплело до плюс пяти))( я в большие холода не езжу)) пока нет необходимости)) (( вторая волна холодов началось)) подождал 15 дней )) пришол заводить не заводится только ( клац!клац) рыле)) снял аккумулятор подзарядил) ставлю опять)) не заводится)))

Аккумулятор мастер проверил ( рабочий) до этого стартер работал отлично !! Что может быть? Мерседес только полгода как из Голландии!!!

Yeah, rust should be on your mind if you bought a Sprinter, known rust buckets lol, same counts for Ford Transits. Sprinters, great engine sure, but damn these things rust.
I think as kind as you stay on top of it you’re be fine love my sprinter rusty oil leak and all lol 😂
yeah good Job but zink is much better than filler..it is available also for filling as zink spray an you have the sam effect as filler….filler should only be put eventually over a layer of zink if necessary and then the Color...….this way it works … but no filler directly on the car without zink..that works but not quite good.

Unfortunately, whilst I was ill last week some bar steward stole all of my plastic trims. I guess I will make some out of ply and cover them in shrink wrap. If they get knicked again then the thief will be very disappointed :o)
