Yes, he not only stopped Tanjiro from cutting his throat in the real world,; he was savvy enough to know he and Tanjiro would only get in the way if they tried to help Rengoku fight Akaza. What he said at the end was intuitive and spot-on. Rengoku would have approved.

I don't think you're supposed to agree with Inosuke there. I mean, Tanjiro's friend and role model just got brutally murdered by a coward right in front of him. I think it's permissible for him to cry.
Not only that, Inosuke is crying too. I think the scene is to show you that it is okay to cry, especially because it shows Tanjiro and Inosuke sobbing when they're both very stoic characters.

I've got a pretty unique perspective as I actually haven't scene even a single scene of the series itself. My gf is actually a huge fan and so the trip to the theatre was made for her. That being said, the movie definitely relies on your previous knowledge of the show. There's not a whole lot in the way of character introductions but even without them, the characters are unique enough that you get a feel pretty fast. The same can be said for how the rules within the universe work. Even without any previous knowledge of the show I was still able to enjoy the movie. As Chris said the action and animation is top notch, and the visuals alone were enough to keep me entertained, but the story itself is also really interesting, and the characters are done so well it shows why this anime is so popular. Rengoku is an instant favorite of mine. As a whole, the experience was way more enjoyable for me than it had any right to be. They definitely didn't pull any stops for this movie.

During some of the fight scenes I got so hype and during the emotional scenes I cried. It was honestly pretty easy to follow, granted my friend explained some of the bare basics of the world, but other than that, I understood the motivations, and personalities pretty quickly. It was a great experience. The next day I started to binge the show. Funny enough, we watched the subbed movie, and when Netflix gave me the dubbed version I was soooo confused! This type of movies should be more common. Promote the next season while advancing the canon story. Worked well with Made In Abyss' Dawn of the Deep Soul as well. I'm always glad when a franchise's anime isn't just for promotion of the source material that dies in 12/13 episodes, but instead, a proper adaptation. The few cases that actually go through with it mostly turn out to be gems (prime example: FMA Brotherhood).
