Dan I want to steal all your ideas, but the installation manual says not for small spaces. Please discuss. I wish for the *perfect* water heater: upstate NY winters, direct vent, battery ignition (I'm off grid, solar power). Perhaps there is a model that can be easily drained when not in use.
Trying to find were it says its "not for small spaces". I was unable to find it on their website. If it does say that, I would believe that its because it needs fresh air to run properly. So putting it inside a closet wouldn't be a great idea. But then whats the definition of a "small space"? the vent holes in the side which provide the fresh air might total 1 sqft, so I would think if you have 1 sqft of space leading into the closet it would be fine. They are all fairly easy to drain. There's a small screw in plug that drains the system. marey.com/english/products/gas-water-heaters/power-gas-10l-lpg-dp.html I'd email them if you have any questions.. "Don't stress the small stuff." Hey Dan! Question, how much gas do you use on a regular base? The only thing we still have to cover is the heating for showering and sink water. Since i'm not planning on getting hooked up to a gas line i'd like to know how ofter you need to fill up the gas bottles.
+Gerwin Kappert it's hard to say but not as much as you'd think you use. At the most 1 20 lbs tank every 3 months. I have made 1 tank last 6 months but that was before I had the stove and dryer. 15$ a tank. So $60 a year at most. CHEEP.
@@TinyHouseCustoms Thank you so much for this video! We have been looking for the best solution for our small garden cottage, and after seeing this, and your comment on how long a 20lbs bottle would last, I feel confident about going ahead with this.

Tiny house customs. This is an awesome set up all around. My mother has a small off grid cabin I’ve been working on for her. I installed a tankless water heater. Cheaper ones. 4.8 gpm. The instructions have not been very informative. I was wondering what you used for the ventilation for your water heater. I’m worried about the carbon monoxide being an issue myself. I would appreciate your feedback. Anyways awesome house. Keep up the good work.
Excellent Video... So what you're saying is this (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) The Second water heater is like the first one, (Hook up wise) but on the 2nd WH you have a vent... Right??? Because I like the first one, but would love to have a vent. Thank you so much for sharing this great video.
I didn't see another video talking about this water heater later in your journey. I was hoping you could answer a few questions about it. How hot does that vent pipe get? How do you keep that pipe from catching anything in the ceiling on fire? Have you noticed anything with the carbon monoxide detector? I'm just starting on my journey and new to learning this stuff. I want to put one of these water heaters in my camper.
Hey I’m using my now divorced wedding crystal bowl and platter as my bathroom sink (I couldn’t get Natures Head to make the toilet with it so this is as close 30 years down the crapper as I can get). The I First I tried the the hole on the matching Mikasa individual salad bowls & my Dremel multi tool worked great (I am using that as a matching sconce). Re: Propane ...what kind of piping did you use from the tank to hot water heater? How big is your piping for that and also the pex coming out? LOVE your videos. You are too hard on yourself.
The temp in your shower will depend on the flow. In my experiments with the Eccotemp if the water is too hot then turning on the cold side in the shower cuts the flow through the tankless water heater and finding a stable water temp was nearly impossible unless the heater was right in the shower with you and you weren't using a cold water source to balance the temp but only using the knobs on the heater. How did this install turn out? How is your shower? Aren't you concerned about using a single wall vent pipe with fire hazard in the ceiling?
Do these propane tankless water heaters always have a flame going? I have a cabin that freezes and I don't want to over amperage the electrical system. I do not want something that has a constant fire like a tank water heater? How has this worked out for you?
I bought an on-demand propane water heater online and it flashes like it will ignite and then nothing. The manufacturer said I need to adjust the ignition needle but would not even send me a photo showing where to look or how to adjust it. Can you give me some guidance on this task? Send a photo or diagram with the part in question circled and how to adjust it please. These cold showers in a room that is poorly heated in December are not fun. Thank you.
Is it a low water flow issue. Ignition needle.. the thing that makes the spark. You need to move it like they said. If that’s not enough information, I wouldn’t touch it and find a plumber to come fix it.
