    What a taste and musical touch you have... And it seems you know so much melodies, from the 70's to now... And it also seems you could play everything! The starting music, kind "dark" and sweet, was so beautiful... So nice to see what a strat can do as well.... Great!

    Fantastic intro Dave - took me back in time to better days when people played to take you out of yourself rather than to just take your money (business). Can think of no better player than you to get the best out of the HX. As Jimi said - "shine on Mr business man you can't dress like me.

    Very cool. Planned on watching this yesterday. But, I spent an ungodly amount of time fighting with my Ditto Stereo Looper. I ordered one from Sweetwater and was super excited to use it. Then, I saw that the dorks at TC Electronics didn't include an actual manual. Nothing but a stupid fucking piece of paper with what was basically a diagram that didn't tell you shit. Went online to see what the manual actually says and I died laughing at how absurd the whole situation was. Once I read through the ONLINE manual, I was able to figure out some stuff that the damn piece of paper made no mention of at all. Seriously, I was ready to send it back. But, now, all is well. Fantastic video, as usual, Dave. Hope ya don't mind the babble about the looper. LOL Besides, your videos are what made me want one of these, to begin with. So, I think that it applies. LOL

    Question dude if I have a Friedman small box 50 and I’m good to run this thru the fx loop ? Would that be the best way to do it? I want to use the distortion from my amp and mostly use this for jet pedal effects just like a delay and a reverb maybe an octave. Sorry if you already explained something like this in the video. At work and didn’t have the time to watch the whole thing

    Hey dave took your advice and passed on trading my sg standard for a bandmaster. Came across an offer and traded for a brand new 65 deluxe reverb and love it! Thanks for the advice can you jump both channels with deluxe like with a bassman or plexii? Thanks again! Your the best man!

    • @thunderrosa2258
      @thunderrosa2258 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do this but there is not much point to it, it doesn't really sound any better or worse than the custom channel by itself imo :)

    • @RobCmusic
      @RobCmusic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Generally the Fender blackface amps with reverb (and or vibrato) on ch.2 don't work well jumpered because the channels are out of phase with each other and result in a very thin, weedy sound. My old '65 Bassman was awesome jumpered because the channels were in phase and I used it that way most of the time.

  • @sunrise2539

    Dave, pls your opinion. Hx effects or hx stomp. Is worth the amp sim instead losing switches and blocks? Is an important issue to play to FOH and to not have amp on stage? Small stages, in ear, foh, soon or later will be probably the time to say bye to the amps...

    Hi Dave! Maybe not super relevant for this video, but I have a queastion. I own a Fender Mustang V2 Amp with an Boss DS-2. Everytime I use the Boss DS-2 the volume goes through the roof, do you know a way to fix this? Thanks!

    • @jeffhatcher6778
      @jeffhatcher6778 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adjust the level on the DS-2. Toggle the switch on and off and adjust level to get the stomp volume where you need it. You'll manage the dirt with the distortion knob.

    • @CJL-ib5ee
      @CJL-ib5ee 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      What Jeff said but also put a tiny bit of overdrive before it for a tiny bit of compression.

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to give the DS2 a slightly overdriven signal for it to behave. It hates a cleans amp. You will need to overdrive your amp slightly. :)

    This or the new stomp?

    • @jeffhatcher6778
      @jeffhatcher6778 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stomp if you want amp and cabinet modeling, and are on a budget. Also depends on how many effects you run at one time. The HX Stomp gives you six blocks. 1 - 2 blocks can be taken up by amp and cab, leaving 4-5 potentially for effects. I have the stomp, and am thinking of going for the FX so I can get the best of both worlds (amp, cabinet, and impulse response + oodles of effects) by combining them.

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would personally go for the HX over the stomp. :)

    • @mattirving4164
      @mattirving4164 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Simpson the only reason I’m debating the 2 is because of how compact the stomp, but I think I’ll go with the FX :)

      Katana 50 by a mile

    • @jeffhatcher6778
      @jeffhatcher6778 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the Katana 50 is a little more versatile. The Champion 50XL sounds great, but I get a lot more mileage out of the Katana 50 (including the acoustic setting, which is acceptable for acoustic guitar, and more than acceptable for inputting the line 6 HX Stomp (very little color). Clean and crunch tones on Katana are both decent. Champion XL really kills clean, but not much else IMHO.

    • @LauraSquirrel

      A lot of people seem to like the Katana 50. Personally, I fucking despise modeling amps. But, that's only my point of view.
