    Just bought one. Waited almost two years before I saw your Katana vid. Bought that to.
    You my friend, equal integrity on guitar. No BS , the truth and nothing but your truth.
    Your opinion matters to me when it comes to guitar. Thanks Dave , for sharing the gravy.

    Oh man, this is one the best reviews of anything I have ever seen. I came across Dave whilst looking for Evil Sheep Pickups, saw his review of the Sheep Experience set, got in touch with Mark and have just received a set for my Voodoo Strat, brilliant pickups! Decided to delve deeper into Dave’s Yootoob world and have spent literally hours watching his awesome reviews. Great guitarist, totally into what he is doing, Dave your videos are so cool, I could watch them all day, in fact I nearly did, I was upstairs and my wife thought I was out! This one takes the biscuit so far, what a piece of gear, I thought Line 6 was just icky modelling crap, I had a Flextone 3 amp for two days years back then went running back to my Marshall and Laney but I totally want one of these so I can lose myself in soundscapes and return to earth a chilled and happy man, Great job Dave!!!!

    I feel you Dave. I've spent waaay too much time designing crazy shimmery organ sounds with my TC Nova System. Add some subtle vibrato and maybe two more delay pedals panned in stereo and you are in heaven.
    Unfortunately I lost some of my technique and I don't play as quick as you because i was too busy tweaking knobs haha. But who cares? Sound design is fun!!!

    I can imagine all of those pedal manufacturers groaning inwardly as they see their businesses going down the tubes with this product. There is no denying it is awesome (I have been listening for some month's to Brock Davisson on You Tube with his Helix and it -and he - is outstanding). Like the music industry in general however it reflects a corporatist trend where the little guy gets squeezed out by money and technology. Having grown up musically in what I regard as the golden age of the 60's & 70's I can only feel regret at this trend. How long before talent is totally squeezed out by technology as Artificial Intelligence starts to dominate ?

    • @Eleni_Be
      @Eleni_Be 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in a way i'd agree but on the other hand these machines are nothing without a mind full of music in the first place.
      sure it inspires the dullest musician but only for so much time, then it becomes a boring stream of bloated generic blah.

    41:02 - 53:35. Just.....wow. Now, I'm not going to lie. I am not a fan of multi-effects units. But, that's just me. HOWEVER...that...was....AWESOME! All of that stuff that you were playing was so rad. You seriously need to do a record on your Bandcamp where it is just stuff like this. Sooooo good!

    • @LauraSquirrel
      @LauraSquirrel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also want to comment on something else. But, it's related to this section. I always see people that say this: "Why buy pedals that basically make your guitar sound like a synth? Just buy a keyboard if you want that sound." As Dave shows here, there are little nuances that you can only get when using a guitar for those types of sounds that you could never get on a keyboard. (case in point: a subtle bend of a guitar string vs using a pitch wheel on a keyboard or using picking dynamics vs the touch response function on a keyboard.)

    Line 6 seem to make better multi effects than they do amps. Ive had the line 6 spider 2 and ive had the 75w line 6 spider iv and i just thought they were OK. But the multi effects are great even the older pod xt was great for its time. Possibly is the speakers they use with the amps?

    Hi Dave, could you try the 4 cable method into your Crush Pro with it?
    The Helix Effects has loop and an amp switch making it possible, could be interesting to hear how it's Tubescreamer etc. stacks with the Orange's dirty channel.
    If you got time to do that, could you also be so kind to check if the Helix Effects allows the guitars volume makes the CR's drive react the same way as when the guitar is plugged directly into the CR?

    • @thedavesimpson
      @thedavesimpson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure you can do that with the HX but i'll have a look and see what I can do. : )

      You can do that, I made a schematic with the Helix FX and the CR120 head
