    Hi Barry, you nailed it yet again with your presentation..... 8 tents....WOW... You should have lined them up favourite to least favourite ha ha . ATB Tom

      Thanks Tom. Yes, I thought it was high time I bought them all out so everyone could see them. And to your comment of ranking them, that’ll be like saying which of my kids I like best. 😁 So in reply, they all have their great points and not so great points. However I’m happy with each of them, depending on the situation and terrain. Happy camping.

      Thanks. Yes, it was my first tent as well. It’s been in many adventures with me. I’m taking a break from making vids at the moment. 😀

    Dam, that's a lot of tents. You might have a tent collecting problem. Hahaha. Thank's for sharing all your tents. It was fun seeing all of them and seeing how you used them over the years. Well done! Most poeple do reviews on tents they barely used. This was great because you used them all and have lots of experience. I just subscribed. I started a channel recently too and am always looking for inspiration. Let’s stay connected!

      Thanks man! Yes, I certainly do like using all my tents and not just talking about them. I checked out your channel. Good editing skills and content. Well done. I subbed to your channel as well. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼

    I do feel we collect tents for the places we tent, I don't need a bomb proof tent for forestry areas I travel in the north island, so mine are all light weight single wall or mesh inner tents and my tarp...
    Little envious of your hilleberg, but it no different to me owning jimmy as my off-road vehicle and admiring the mud beast's you see on off road channels... 😂
    Look forward to seeing what you will do with an ultra light set up be it tarp or trekking pole or what ever... watch storm test of that would be a laugh.

    • @wildmountainman1
      @wildmountainman1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah a tarp in a storm sounds more like a disaster lol! There’s always a first thought. 😀 I do love my Hilleberg. They are expensive, however they will last you for many years, evens a generation or two. The quality and strength is fantastic. And yes, every tent for every situation. One tent doesn’t fit the bill. All the best out there. 😀

      @@wildmountainman1 thought I was OTT with 4 tents, a bivvy and a tarp. An ultralight and a pyramid next?

    Impressive! Ever been tempted by the Sololight? 300g less than the Microlight which I find tricky to get enough tension on the inner walls.

    • @wildmountainman1
      @wildmountainman1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there. Due to the larger size of the microlight, I’m not tempted to step down to something that’s smaller, even if it is a bit lighter. One tip on the microlight is to independently peg out the inner and outer (you’ll need to take about 4 extra pegs) so you can get greater tension on each layer.

    Tents I had at one time were hilleberg, an Akto, Soulo, nallo, namatj, tarra. The nallo being the favourite except for storms for which the tarra was used. The akto was just used for short trips, the nammatj used once in the snow, the soulo not at all. The akto was ripped out of the ground in a 90mph storm, my fault, only damage being a slighly bent pole.
    Hillebrg recon that the Tarra can survive anything on the planet, which I can believe as sheds wind, having incredible strength aswell. It can also be double polled and secured with as many guylines as you want.

    Hello, how have you found the Mont 1 man tent in windy conditions ?

    • @wildmountainman1
      @wildmountainman1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. It handles moderate windy conditions ok, I wouldn’t pitch it in strong wind though. I add a couple of extra guy lines at the top, (loops provided) which helps as well.
