Thanks Darren another gem!! Dusty in fine form.... Having had to cancel her 4 week December 1972 engagement at the Talk of the Town in London due to illness, she bounced back with these tv shows... And then in January some night club appearances "up north" including Batley Variety Club and a Sunday night concert at the London Palladium. She had fully recovered and showed her star qualties. We are so lucky to have Darren finding these clips and bringing back so many memories!!! 2019 brings the new Dusty film "So much Love"..... Quiet please, theres a lady on stage!! Dont ya just love her💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Dusty was something else. Amazing to think this was taped during the darkest period of her career- she had moved to the US, her UK chart career was stone cold and of course she was heavily dependent on narcotics at this point too. Incredible that she managed to turn in such an amazing performance as this. It would be another 13 years before Dusty returned to the UK Top 10.
I remember this show being a regular on BBC2 for several years in the early to mid 70s, presented by Vince Hill. For some reason I can specifically remember Gladys Knight & the Pips appearance and Dame Vera Lynn singing the then recent Helen Reddy US hit Ruby Red Dress which seemed rather surreal at the time.
Sorry Andy it's not excellent. She didn't hit the high note on You Don't have to....it was edited in and although Dusty looked glamour ous.....she just wasn't with it. There's a glazed look and, especially when she bows at end, much sadness. She had been unwell with flu and cancelled 4 weeks at Talk...so it may have been the influence of medication. Always good to see her singing her songs....but this wasn't Exellent at all.
A sign of true talent is a singer who can make live performances look so effortless. Dusty always managed to do this. Her voice is lik nothing else.

"I Close My Eyes And Count To Ten" WOW! She belted that out. Let the drummer do his thing. Band sounded good.
