    I realized a few weeks back that I don’t ask my clients their budget. I will be doing this in the future because both me and my clients are losing out. I can make more money, and my clients can get a whole lot more out of me. Usually they’ll just say “I need a logo” and I say “definitely” but I never ask them “what is you budget as I may be able to do more than a logo for you” .. it truly is a process and I’m learning and growing and my confidence is improving ❤️❤️ Thanks Abi

    That’s super interesting regarding posting pricing. Very good points! For me as a client though, I am less likely to reach out if pricing isn’t discussed on the website. It saves time on my end. Additionally, I’m a big fan of transparency in business.

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you, I think when it comes to pricing it's for sure open to interpretation, I'm big on value based pricing, 'how much value will 'said product or service' bring to this business' For example a jewellery shop would be much more open to the idea of spending £2000 on rent a month for a store front because there profit margins are higher compared to a magazine company, who would rather invest that money into a really good website and delivery service as it suits their niche better, it's all about the value to the unique business, there isn't a one size fits all. Plus in my case each branding package is unique because businesses have different needs, some might need social media templates, some might need packaging design, and some might need both!😊

    This is always a hard one to answer. I'm in web development and choosing my starting wage was difficult. It was over $10/hour of my previous career and it felt strange starting out higher. I'm glad I did, as I feel like raising my prices for that now too.

    Love this! Totally agree with the flat rate instead of charging by the hour, how do you go around charging for numerous amends? Do you set a flat rate for any amendments too? I always worry that charging more for these bits will put a client off and I of course don't want that to happen, but I also want them to love their work too! Xx

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thank you!! So in my contract it stated they get 3 revisions within the cost of the project and then if it goes over this I will charge them accordingly!! You’ve just got to be super transparent with your clients and tell them every detail about the cost and why it will cost x amount for the amends! I normally find that my clients only ever have a few revisions to their brand, but if it’s over I will let them know the extra costs! It also stated this in my contract so they are well aware of this too xx

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! Ahh this is a tough one - I've definitely struggled with this before. Ultimately, your friends and family should be well aware that this is how you make a living and should want to compensate you fairly!! Be confident in your pricing, don't discount too heavily (unless you really want to). You could always suggest Payment Plans (50%, 25%, 25%) to ease them into the investment!

    • @abiconnick
      @abiconnick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I didn't go uni, I only went to college, After that I got an apprenticeship as a junior designer, then spent a few years working in the industry, building up my skills from experience, and then I would say most of my growth has come in the last two years of working for myself, A thing that has really helped develop my skills is doing my own passion projects! TH-cam is a great place to learn by the way! If you're motivated enough you can learn pretty much anything online 😊
