Your pricing methods and amounts are right on target. I've been a Graphic Designer/Art Director for over 35 years, I've used basically the same structure you've mentioned. Thanks for reinforcing the pricing structure and method/s.

I really appreciated this video! So much useful information that designers rarely want to speak about. Thank you! Would love to see one on other types of design projects like websites.

In my area (SE Iowa) there is an influx of designers-all undercutting each other for small freelance projects, all driving the price and quality down just to get the project. It's nearly impossible to charge a fair market value for beautiful, quality work because of inexperienced, poorly designed, low cost work.

Thanks for this! It also depends on the size of the company and if you answer to an individual or are designing by committee which is double the revisions. Then there is demand. The higher you are in demand, the higher you can command.

So many designers undervalue themselves and the industry.

This is so helpful! Thank you. I just graduated with a degree in graphic and web design and in the two-year program, we couldn't get the instructors to mention any numbers.

Great video! In the past I’ve charged $1500, but I’ve been debating on increasing to $2000 minimum, since it seemed like I was doing far too much work by the end for not enough. I’ll definitely be increasing after this video.
Also, your process really helps. I’ve allowed for more revisions in the past, but clients (even well meaning ones) will *absolutely* abuse this, dragging out the process. Definitely going to incorporate some of that, as well.

thanks for sharing, and for your transparency. i’m in the same price range as you... so it’s good to know. i do however make a small branding guideline for each logo, and prepare all the various files for various outputs (cmyk, pantone, rgb, and then .eps .png, etc) which adds another $600-800 to the tab.

I'm curious about how many work hours each of these types of projects range for you (in short, as an established designer, what you would consider to be an hourly rate). This would provide some context for those of us who are hobbyists or starting out to get some idea what sort of time commitments we might be looking at (also expecting newbies/hobbyists to take longer at the same tasks because, well, we're new).

I started using free timer software like Harvest or Clockify to keep track of how long it takes me to complete every project (admin tasks as well as designing). After a while, it's given me a pretty clear picture of the hours it takes and that's helped me price myself more accurately for both hourly rates and project rates. Maybe that would be helpful for you too? :)

I am a graphic designer too and find your process very similar to mine! I is nice and reassuring to see I am doing it right :o)

A good and thoughtful approach. I think your pricing model is similar, though hard to find clients at the 3-4K level. Are you considering increasing your prices to reflect recent inflation in the economy?
