I get excited whenever I'm checking out gear on YT and I see R.J. has done a demo. It's a no-brainer - his is the only vid you need to watch. For example - he is one of the only guys who will roll the guitar volume down with a fuzz, to see what it's like on the clean-up. A+ Thanks R.J.!
I have a Old Ross from late 70's and to see these back on the market and still same shape designs with the Extra Side Switch Added, Really is a Blast and look forward to seeing when and Wear to purchase them is GREAT 👍, Thanks RJ, Ronquillio, The Blues Master this side of Nashville 🤘🫶😉🎸🤠
I always dig your demos, I already have several JHS pedals on my pedal board and see no compelling reason to buy these, although they sound good. Thanks for the great demos and playing. Cheers!
When i was first getting into guitar around 1980 I'd heard about "distortion boxes" and i was mystified... how does this work!? What does it look like!? Finally in '82 I came across the brown Ross distortion and i thought it was incredible!! So recently i bought one of these new ones for nostalgia lol
That's almost unbelievable. There are so many compressors out today that are based on or are modified versions of the Ross circuit. For example, the Keeley Compressor is a Ross circuit that he modified.
@@J.C... I'm sixty five, been playing all my life. I don't own pedals from most of today's manufacturers. I've heard of Keeley...but that the keeley compressor is based off the Ross circuit doesn't tell me anything because I don't know Keeley other than having seen videos pop up for it, or suggestions on reverb.
@@RickMcCargar The only reason I knew about Ross was due to Trey Anastasio (Phish) doing a rig rundown in 2012 and talking about his vintage Ross Compressor. So it's totally okay not to know about this obscure brand that disappeared decades ago.
The Ross Phaser is really cool. I’ve had a vintage one for years. It has a certain unique quality with the feedback control that no other phaser I own does.
Hundreds of people used Ross compressors. And thousand upon thousands more used it without knowing it, I'm sure, considering how many compressors on the market are the Ross circuit or a modified version of it. Analogman, Wampler, Keeley, and I'm sure even JHS has/had an actual Ross-based compressor available at some point. Plus the countless other companies that make them. Then there's the generic pedal companies. My Mosky Audio compressor is a Keeley 4 knob compressor clone. The Keeley is a Ross with more knobs. Now think of all of those companies. If it's a 2 knob compressor, there's a 90% chance it's a Ross or modified Ross circuit. Guarantee it. So, to answer your question...however many guitar players have used a 2 knob compressor? That's who all has used a Ross. And that's only 1 single pedal. Not even counting their others yet.
Finally, a review where the Fuzz is demoed properly with the volume rolled back to show how it cleans up. Thank you!
The compressor and distortion are my faves outta the line, thus far.
same!!!

Brilliant demos, brief and complete. Thank you!
(and goodbye to Ross pedals one year later)

Great rundown my friend!!
Love the phaser. Its beetween bad stone and phase 90 tone
I really like the Fuzz. I'm planning on building a Pedalboard with all of these Ross Pedals 👍🤙✌️

Awesome demo, thx R.J.
Ross fuzz reminds me of an harmonic percolator. Awesome
Omg! ROSS! was my 1st practice amp, and I got a "Grand Prix" Les Paul copy yo match. In 1984 from Sunnyland Music in South Miami...😂❤
that fuzz rocks!

The compressor sounds more like a preamp to my ears. Pushing the amp to that natural overdrive
Compressor, phaser and chorus
R.J. - Is the compressor pre gain when you go to the higher gain section at 10:56 ?
i love the soul to californication riffs lol
Never heard of them before the reintroduction.

That compressor is the bees knees!
Seem like thats is high Gain Distortion 🤟
Guess who's gone?
Great demo as always R.J. I get that people are nostalgic about these pedals but i don't hear anything special or unique.

What guitarist used ROSS pedals? I'm guessing Yngwie malmsteen used the ROSS chorus?

I'm still not knowing the Ross pedals.

Sounds like a cheap Dyna Comp.
Nope
most of these sound great but i dont get the hype behind the compressor. it doesnt do much to the sound maybe its just my ears
Guess who's gone?
