    Brian I’ve watched since revision. I gotta say Diamond Jim is by far my most favorite guest. A lot of his stuff is very memorable and simple to do. Thank you for having him as a guest frequently.

    I've been doing this trick since you uploaded it's great and there are some people who sometimes don't get it and and look through the deck for the card they named and don't see the aces or jokers or whatever you've used as the 2 cards and it makes the whole thing better

    Not first comment. The pass is a favorite utility move of mine. There are SO many variations on the pass. I’ve been working on a routine that is nothing but pass variations, more as a practice than something to actually share (think kata in the martial arts world). Anyway, I was excited for this and rightfully so.

      Dont be embarrassed. This has a good chance of fooling someone who is in the know on passes and cuts. I started practicing them for a week once just for shits, very quickly got to the point where if you distract them they won't notice.
      If you wanna learn it just remember, when you say someone's name they WILL look at you. I would say about half of all passes and cuts done in magic are done while looking at the person and saying their name.

  • @JudithOpdebeeck
    @JudithOpdebeeck 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    i wonder if it might be a little bit stronger to put them in reversed, so face up into a face down deck. do the move and put what is essentially a face up deck that looks like a face down deck on the table, and ask them to just think of a card. then you can get them to bet before they say their card, and just spread out the cards and point out the card they thought of, and use that fancy ribbon spread turnover thingy to show its between the aces. idunno if thats better but its how id do it

    When I do this trick I don't say "your card is going to be in between the two aces" I say "it will be SOMEWHERE between the aces" it's subtle and they don't instantly pick up on it and I'm basically telling them that there's more than one card in between but they don't realise it for a while

      You can look up the turnover shift and find many resources on it. Alex Pandrea has a great video to start learning it. It is a variation of what is called the Herman shift which I would recommend you learn the basics of before trying to learn the turnover pass. The shift is cutting the deck inconspicuously by moving the bottom half to the top.

    Can you make an episode of how to counter a magic trick? Maybe some of the well known once where you can end up fooling the magiction themselves?
    I once got asked to chose a random card and shuffle it for example. I made my card the bottom and did a exagorated Hindu shuffle. My card remained on the bottom and I cupped it when I turned the deck back. As they did a few cuts and counts to get to my card. It never turned up. So I grabbed the remaining stack with the cupped card and showed that they were very close but not there.
